I won't lie - the main attraction of the sheer god-like freedom to design every character in the whole game is something I've yet to see anywhere else, and I couldn't resist coming back until the main campaign was over. Ok, so I’m stuck babysitting my niece once a week, and she loved the demo version. She begged for me to buy the game when it came out, so now I sunk $50 into this port. But, the game itself is very silly and simplistic. Like, put players in the same room together to build friendship. Then increased friendship leads to random collaborative attacks on the battlefield. The fighting is very simplistic. Players can choose a job such as thief, pop star or chef. There are unicorns. It is a game for kids. Little kids. I’m glad that she’s happy to play the game and it is an activity that she doesn’t need much supervision, but hopefully she can beat it and let go of it in a few months and I can get half my money back. For young kids, I’d give this game a 8/10. For adults, it’s like a 3. I would never pay $50 for a game like this for myself. Games that young kids and adults can enjoy together better include Mario Kart, Snipperclippers, Luigis Mansion, and Minecraft. Expand

Not a bad game, but it suffers because the Switch doesn't have streetpass, so I have to create every me, which can be a bit pace breaking, where as on the 3DS I had hordes of Mii's to choose from.

An absolute treat for those who missed out on this game's charm the first time around. The expanded creation tools are a nice draw, but it's still hard to justify a $50 price tag on a remastered 3DS game, especially when there isn't much else in the way of new content. That there are no new classes, costumes or personality types added to the game is unusual to say the least. But for those who aren't too wrapped up in Nintendo's questionable business practices, the quirky and casual charm of Miitopia still offers an escape into a lighthearted fantasy where you can create and adventure with just about anyone you can imagine. And if the game finds new fans on the Nintendo Switch, maybe the means justify the ends. Expand

Miitopia is on paper a very good rpg, original and fun. This is demonstrated with the humor of the Miis or the fairly complete options. But what marks the most here is its enormous lifespan! However, the reality is quite different: despite a correct artistic direction, the game is repetitive and long for nothing and is justified with a beast that takes the same paterns of monsters. In addition, if the relationships are interesting to note, we clearly do not have control of the game (not control of allies, nor of conversations) which makes the game a random rpg!
But casually, the game is nice and fun because you can put those around you in the game and see the coincidences between it and real life. I recommend for arduous secondhand players.

I want to love this game, I really do. The music is so charming, and so is the rest of the game. The big issue is that in the later game, it becomes boring. Post quest center place, you are released free. There is no longer a story, or motive for you to play. The gameplay gets repetitive and you must document every good thing and the best play styles. Again, I want love, but the developers just didn't make it exciting in the later game. If there was a little more action from there on, than this game would get an easy positive score, but it becomes so lifeless from there on. I think if you still enjoy the concept and trailers of the game, go for it! Maybe you'll end up liking it! Expand

Miitopia is a silly rpg with life-sym mechanics. This mix offers a fun experience for people of every age. The only thing that bothered me is the passiveness of the game; at least in the battles, I would have liked controlling every member of the team and not just one.

A good entertaining game where you get to customize and create your own characters, the only flaw is after you beat the game it gets very boring with doing the same side quests over and over again.

While it’s fun to cast every role in your Miitopia adventure, it’s less thrilling to sit back and let this very hands-off game play itself. [Issue #4, p.57]

Miitopia is a fun first RPG for young kids, and while it can also be fun for adults, the game quickly gets repetitive and unrewarding. It would be better as a multiplayer game on Switch, or even an online outing that had more to do. It really defeats itself as a solo game. Its real appeal lies not in the RPG adventure itself, then, but in how wildly robust the new Mii-making interface is. Some people may want to pick up the game for that feature alone. Compared to the original released on 3DS in 2017, the Switch version of Miitopia looks better and offers a couple of additions, but it is pretty much the same thing. I had a lot of fun with it once again and I can recommend it to anyone looking for a funny (but not necessarily hilarious) game with an extraordinarily enjoyable gameplay loop. [08/2021, p.66]
