THIS GAME NEEDS TO BE 4-PLAYER! Meow Motors has a lot of potential, but there are just a few issues holding it back, one of them appearing to be unique to the Switch.
The game is $15, and it's worth that for sure. The characters are cute and the visuals are pretty good. However, every time you drift, it's like you've completely lost control. I've never tried drifting in real life, so I don't know - maybe that's more realistic than the super controlled drifting of Mario Kart. But my character is a cat driving a car, so realistic is clearly not my objective here.
The biggest disappointment is that the Switch version is only two-player (4 on PS4). I really wanted this as a party game, and I wouldn't have guessed it to be only two player.
Another frustration is that there is no reference guide for the controllers - like anywhere on the internet from what I saw (during an admittedly brief search). I just had to do the first cup again just to go back over the tutorials.
Final criticism is the sound track - it doesn't go with racing at all. It's all laid back hill-billy banjo music. The sound effects are actually kinda quiet-feeling. It's weird. I don't pay a lot of attention to sound tracks, but this was bad enough to get my attention. The music actually kinda makes you want to put the game down and do something else with your time.
Pros:
1. All cats!
2. Visuals and tracks
3. Entertaining weapons
Cons:
1. 2 player max
2. No online play
3. Drifting is too slippery
4. No control reference guide without replaying tutorial
5. Bad Sound Track
I am really hoping for an update to at least bump it up to 4 players, because I would love it for parties. It's such a cool game, but without 4 player (and online play would be great),… Expand
