Mar 26, 2026Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection is a near-complete collection of the Nintendo DS’ Mega Man titles. Featuring welcome quality of life benefits, new-and-improved (for the most part) audio/visuals, along with online play, it’s a must-have for a Mega Man fan wanting to replay some of the best titles in the series’ history.

Mar 25, 2026The Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection is an excellent package of three solid games, filled to the brim with bonus content and QoL features.
-
Mar 25, 2026The Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection is a bundle of delightful RPGs, with combat that feels fresh and fun even by modern standards.

Mar 25, 2026Mega Man Star Force 3 represents the culmination of the Star Force series in more ways than it just being the final entry of the series. The story noticeably steps things up from 2, concluding things in a satisfying way and tying up loose ends from the first game. It pushes the battle system forward with the Noise Change and White Card systems, adding some of the depth back to Star Force's otherwise more streamlined battle system. Throw in a challenging post-game, and it's hard to argue against 3 being the peak of the series. Star Force 3 is a rare sequel that pretty much unanimously improves everything while sacrificing nothing. While they're all worth playing, and ideally you'd play the other two before this one, Star Force 3 best represents Star Force's unique appeal.

Mar 25, 2026Without a doubt, Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection is one of the biggest highlights of 2026. I could go on and on about just how much fun I've had replaying the games, and I'm still reeling from the fact that we finally have these games on a modern platform.

Apr 2, 2026Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection is another win for Capcom game preservation efforts. It grants us access to elements unseen outside of Japan. We get complete control over the experience, with opportunities to make it easier or more difficult. We choose exactly how it displays, making the two-screen game feel as comfortable as someone would like. I’m still a bit disappointed with some font and HD filter appearances. But if you love Mega Man, this is another lovely tribute to an enjoyable spin-off series.

Mar 31, 2026For long-time fans of the franchise, this is an easy recommendation. For newcomers, it’s perhaps best approached with measured expectations and a bit of patience. Either way, Mega Man Star Force: Legacy Collection stands as a worthwhile addition to the Nintendo Switch library and a fitting second life for a trilogy that never got the attention it deserved.

Mar 27, 2026Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection is a way to give this branch of the character, which perhaps wasn't as popular, a new lease on life. It features seven different gameplay options, each tailored to the user's play style thanks to quality-of-life improvements.

Mar 25, 2026Capcom nailed it with the Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection in every aspect. Presentation-wise, it is the best compilation featuring the Blue Bomber they've ever released, adding plenty of quality-of-life changes that I'd love to see them retroactively implement in previous titles. In terms of gameplay, while Battle Network still outshines the Star Force spin-offs in many ways, each game continuously builds upon the previous one to much success (for the most part), making the highly underrated journey of Geo Stelar from a secluded, directionless kid dealing with grief and loneliness into a fully-fledged anime protagonist that would die for his friends a blast to rediscover.
-
Mar 25, 2026The Star Force Legacy Collection brings back the underrated spin-off in the best way possible. It looks and plays better than ever while also featuring a number of worthwhile bonuses both hardcore fans and newcomers alike will appreciate. There are a few remaining flaws to take into account, but seldom did these truly infringe upon the experience.

Mar 25, 2026The Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection is quite literally the definition of “more than the sum of its parts.” Playing the trilogy back-to-back puts Geo Stelar’s coming-of-age arc into a heartwarming perspective that left me emotional at the end. The way you get to watch the gameplay gradually evolve with new ideas and additions feels natural, even if the middle chapter is still the weakest of the bunch, and quality-of-life improvements and restored content help make the package feel modern and complete. Despite some story lulls and a few online feature omissions, this is the best way to play as the most underrated version of the Blue Bomber.
-
Mar 25, 2026The Mega Man Star Force trilogy is worth the time sink, but I'm curious if it would've been worth the development time to craft a three-game scenario combining the content of the other games definitively.

Mar 25, 2026Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection continues Capcom’s unbroken streak of excellent Mega Man remasters, presenting these DS classics in the best possible light and providing a compelling package. Not only do the included games each offer an enjoyable virus-busting RPG adventure, but new quality-of-life features, an addictive online battle mode, and smooth presentation all come together to make for a must-have experience for curious Rockman fans. Despite some design missteps in the earlier games, this collection shows that this trilogy stands strongly alongside other Mega Man sub-series, and I’d suggest you pick it up if you’re at all interested in Mega Man’s forays into the RPG genre.

Mar 25, 2026Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection is a thoughtfully curated compilation that aims to relaunch a series that was probably overshadowed by Battle Network. After 20 years, time has somewhat washed away the sense of “disappointment” that once permeated various communities, allowing players to rediscover some unique JRPGs and introducing them to a new generation—especially fans of Mega Man. We believe that the Star Force saga features a solid combat system that can also satisfy the most demanding RPG players: some boss battles, particularly in Star Force 3, could really put players to the test. All things considered, this re-release doesn’t offer anything new, but it delights with a complete package that lets you enjoy the entire epic from start to finish (each chapter will take no less than 20 hours to complete 100%). Compared to other re-releases, Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection doesn’t offer anything particularly revolutionary. However, having these historic games in a single package—without having to go crazy trying to track down an old Nintendo DS—is no small thing. And besides, Star Force 3 truly feels like a brand-new addition.

Mar 25, 2026If you’re new to all of this, you’ll probably want to start your journey with the Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection. It’s not that you can’t jump in with Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection, but the included games aren’t quite up to the highs of their predecessors. Star Force adheres too closely to Battle Network for its own good, and where it does make changes they are generally for the worse. With all that said, it’s hard to fault Capcom’s work here on dressing these games in their Sunday best and getting them back out there.
-
Mar 25, 2026This being a Legacy Collection brings up the question of Star Force’s legacy. While not bad games, the series is more continuation than evolution of the previous series, especially in presentation, story, and age range. Star Force 3 was also the direct predecessor to the somewhat ongoing Mega Man drought. While the perfect cure for a shonen anime friendship speech craving, Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection feels a bit interchangeable with what came before.
-
Mar 26, 2026All in all this feels like a pretty hard sell for newcomers, at least outside of people who are seeking out more novel game ideas that have a style distinctively their own. That said, I also have no doubt that people who grew up playing these games could absolutely enjoy taking them for a nostalgic spin as I can’t say I’ve encountered any other titles quite like them in the vast Switch library.
