Mini games are good but the map boards arent very good and playing with computer characters sucks because they constantly roll high numbers.

While the game is decent and playable, It has more cons than pros imo. This review will highlight some of them.

    Positives :
    - The game, imo, is better than the "abominations" known as Mario Party 9 and 10, the vehicle ones, since individual play/movement is back.
    - Decent amount of characters, 10 total.
    - Fun mini-games with a mix of luck and skill.
    - Friendly for kids, meaning, fun and a casual game by default, can be slightly tweaked for more competitive play, keyword: "slightly".
    - A variety of boards that are mostly fun and offer changes to gameplay.

    Negatives:
    - TOO casual and friendly leaving you with not much control (Luck focused).
    - Lack of options and custom settings which leaves for almost no actual competitive settings. There ARE options to enable/disable handicap or enable/disable bonus stars, BUT nothing else.
    - Lack of competitive play support, and competitive settings. E.g. features such as: Banning/limiting items, increasing/decreasing item and/or star prices, modified coin gain value (coins gained/lost when landing on blue/red spaces) etc. Game released in 2021, you'd think the technology would be there by now.
    - Limited gameplay and strategy, and competitive play due to no optimal settings, bad board rework and the current items available, most being unavailable due to specific boards, random luck events or "locked" until the 5 final rounds. Also lack of targeting and item variety create less interesting plays such as planning ahead aka setting up plays or sabotaging a "specific" player etc.
    - Lack of "content". There are currently 8 characters, 5 boards and 16 items currently ingame, 9 which are always available and 2 which board specific. That leaves 5 "rare/hidden" items.
    - Lack of boards to play, while 5 boards is not too bad the game could certainly need more boards, since most boards are unique and play a specific way. E.g. On 1 board the Star doesn't move to a different space after you buy one, etc. Also when you compare to older titles such as the 1st mario party which released 20 years ago and had 8 or so boards to play at launch, it's no wonder the game feels like it's lacking content.
    - NO DLC CONTENT. Which further adds to the "not enough boards" issue and other issues such as, not enough items.
    - Bad/Weird CPU, mainly Hard and Master level. They sometimes do "correct" plays such as warp the star away if you're close to it, other times they rotate the same little path in the corner using up all of their mushrooms and extra dices, essentially doing nothing each turn. They seem decent at mini-games?
    - Bad game balance. You gain more money than you can spend. This and the existence of an abundance of free items almost makes even the shop obsolete. It also encourages you to spend your items since you'll refill shortly. The bad board and game balancing issue leads to issues in terms of economy, items and strategy, which creates almost no counterplay or smart plays, it feels too much like autoplay/luck.
    - Not enough Red/negative spaces, most were removed on the reworked boards making loss of coin difficult, also greatly affecting 1v3 and 2v2 minigame rounds.
    - Versus events 1v3 and 2v2, excluding Vs Space aka 1v1, do not lose you coins on a minigame loss, at least not the way it used to?
    - There's an excessive amount of Lucky spaces on each board, 10 to 15 and they offer random but free items or 10-20+ coins. Like waaaay too much. Both spaces and net gain from the coins/items.
    - Lucky space makes shop semi-obsolete. Has too many options granting you more items then the shop.
    - There's not enough items, there are 16 items currently ingame, 9 available at all times, others exclusive to specific board or board/game states such as hidden in bonus spaces, final 5 turns event etc.
    - There's not enough item variation, Items are more buff focused, there's barely any that target opponents, if there are it's usually random and/or affects you too.
    - Item balacing issue, rarity issue and availability issue ruin the game and makes 0 sense. "Rare" items are too commonly found and aquired, mainly the Golden Pipe.
    - Item shop sells too many similar items which means no real point in buying the lesser version. Golden Pipe>Triple Dice>Double Dice>Mushroom>Custom Dice, all items that affect "forward" movement in a way, getting you closer to the star. All affordable and almost as commonly found in shop as in lucky spaces btw.
    - Items lack originality/difference between other items or share similar purpose making the others obsolete in a way.
    - Too much coin generation per turn+minigame (probably mentioned this but I'll do it again, since it's insane).
    - Pity prizes for 2nd and 3rd place after minigame, leads to no "real" meaning in winning a minigame besides gaining 10 coins instead of 3. You can no longer deny someone who's near a star the "needed" gold since there are pity prizes now.

Probably my favorite Mario game right now.

Why? The game only works if you actively talk with your friends. Strats, lies, collabs, and coop mini-games are essential here. That way, there's no way you can have fun right here. Also, since it can last a few hours, you can totally play it for all the hangout with your friends if you want. As nothing is perfect, this game can be pretty

As nothing is perfect, this game can be pretty unfair. Thus, unpredictability can be a kind of artificial. So, at the end of the day, if you care most about having a good time with your friends, this can't be a problem. Otherwise, you'll get frustrated. A good example was my friend, Neto. He used the same strat all game. He literally played, sleep, woke up, and played again. At the game's end, he got lucky and won it - without even caring about it. Since it was a lot of fun and memorable, it's ok. But be advised about it.

This is one of those games where your kids end up needy, expecting a treat or a present out of nowhere. Because in this game, you are rewarded about every 10 steps for just advancing in a game session.

I like this game, but I think the only way to enjoy it is to play in multiplayer mode, and that is because the game boards are only five. The minigames are fun overall. I don't know why, but I was expecting for something more.

This game has to few boards. Seriously how can a Mario Party, which is commercialized as a Best of-Version have only five boards, when even the original Mario Party on the N64 has eight boards in total and six of them are playable right from the start.

I really have a lot of fun with the game, but it could be more, if I had more boards to choose from. Ten boards should be the minimum for a game like this.

This game is pretty fun to play with friends. It is a fairly simple and fun game and it creates a lot of tense moments (which I'm fond of). There is a lot of luck involved in this game but also a decent amount of skill which I like because while more experienced players have an advantage, they aren't guarantied to crush their friends.

Mario Party Superstars is the twelfth million remake of the all-time classic Mario Party. It features five remade boards from the original N64 version and some new mini games, while including all the mini games from the other thousands of installments in the past. This game is the FIFA of Nintendo, it comes out every year and gives you one new or improved feature at a time for a quick fill of the pockets.

But despite this, it is still a fun game to play with your family or friends. The goal is simple, as always. Collect the most stars before the final round is over and you are a winner. It is that simple. To do this you throw dices, buy special power ups to help you get to the star’s location faster and play a mini game after every round to earn some extra cash (when you win of course).

The mini games are always great and never bore me, this game got them all, from 1998 until now. And they even added some more in this installment. It is just good fun.

This game, like the other editions, can destroy friendships and tear families apart because of the constant torment you can inflict on your opponents by stealing their money or even stars. You also can limit their movement to 3 spaces max and to top it off, send the star to a new location when your opponent gets really close to it. Mario Party Superstars can be intense and sometimes I asked the question to my wife: “You think this is a f*cking game?” And then I realise, it is.

My only complaint is that it needs to be remade almost every year, instead of just upgrade it with new content, like many other games. I know that the magic of money plays a part in this, but still.

Mario Party, whatever the edition, will always be the ultimate party game with friends and family and remains fun to play.

It should've been perfect, but I have a minor problem with it, personally I feel like this is a kind of game you can't be seriously competitive, as "luck" plays a major part here, no matter how much you perform well on the mini-games (which I think should be merited higher) but sadly too much occurrences luck based results taking over with the dice rolls and luck/bad-luck tiles.

Nonetheless, while competitive gaming is not balanced here, it is still definitely a fun party game to play with the family with all those great great mini-games.

As for the new content, there is a severe lack of characters included to pick from, in fact there are more characters in almost every other entry in the franchise. The online is horrible, and the fact you are usually going to play with people on bad internet isn't going to help you either. Many features that are usually included in triple AAA remasters are not here either: Lack of any sort of gallery, extra features, or anything unique to make the player interested.

It's literally just watered down old school Mario party. You're better off playing any of the first 6 entries than this.

Instead, it was a cheap game without much substance to warrant a $40 price tag. Mario Party Superstars, however, was a major upgrade to that and was what the game should've been in the first place.

Superstars does a good job on recreating the feel of the original Mario Party on N64 and does so right when you start the game. Several fan favorite mini-games are back, along with a selection of boards that I have mixed feelings of. Space Land is phenomenal, but I scratch my head at the inclusion of Peach's Birthday Cake, my least favorite board.

My biggest criticism with the whole game is that a lot of charm from older games have been replaced by artificial imitations, and what I mean by that is that modern Mario Party seems to have higher standards and expectations that will weed out a lot of the original charm of early games. The bad voice clips are gone and replaced with milquetoast voice clips recycled from game to game (although Mario's "I did it!" is freakin' hilarious).

The game also has an online mode, and as someone who really didn't like Super Mario Party's online mode, this made me raise some eyebrows. Everyone knows Nintendo isn't known for their reliable online services, so I had a number of reservations for that feature. However after trying it out with a few friends online, I'm happy to report it's actually quite reliable and doesn't slow the game enough to not make it worth it. You'll probably have more lag from other players not actually doing their turns than you will from online connections, so that was a pleasant surprise.

Mario Party Superstars is probably the best Mario Party game to come out since Mario Party 8, I'd argue. I really can't say I enjoy it as much as the older games it's trying to emulate, but it was a good throwback and filled a void of a good version of The Top 100. You'll find yourself reminiscing on the good times back then as you play with newcomers, keeping the legacy of Mario Party strong.

They've picked minigames from 10 different titles, yet they decided to use some of the most generic playing boards in the games history. Only the first 3 Mario Games have their boards in here, with one of them being so outdated that the star remains stationary after collecting it. There is nothibg meaningful to unlock either. Mario Party 4 for the Gamecube for example had 5 boards off the bat, but every time you beat one you play this special minigame vs the host. Each character has a unique room to build and they receive an item when they win a board. Beating 5 of them unlocks the special Bowser one, and if you beat that there's an endboss Bowser too. This is a game from what, 20 years ago? And it has more content than this cashgrab game.

If you don't have a Mario Party game or never played the games, this is a fine addition for family and friends. Minigames are still gold, but looking at the effort for the price, Nintendo is robbing you.

It’s been so long since we had a great Mario Party game, and so this does not disappoint! This game brings back the magic of the series in the good old days, and it’s a true return to form. The only big problem I have with this game is that it’s lacking in content. There are only five boards which is too low, there should have been at least one or two more. There should have been a few more characters too (like Diddy Kong or Dry Bones). The minigame selection is fantastic, with hardly any bad ones. I would have liked to see a few more from the GameCube and Wii games though. The graphics are amazing, they did a great job at updating all the boards and minigames into glorious HD. I know some people say the remixed music is worse than the originals, but I really like most of them. Another problem this game has is the amount of lucky spaces, there are too many of them and you can still get coins from losing minigames. But overall, this game is the first truly great Mario Party game since ND Cube took over. If they had less lucky spaces and more boards and characters, this could be the best Mario Party of all time. Hopefully they will add DLC to this game in the future, it can really use it. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'd like to mention that I have played every Mario Party so I'd like to make certain highlights about the game that can improve the experience a lot fot the next games to come.

Mario Party Superstars is a great game overall; it doesn't do any new (and there's nothing bad about that) and it has improved the experience of some of the old boards which is a nice touch.

    The bad things:
    - The game spits coins everywhere: lucky spaces and bonus minigames.
I don't mind there being lucky spaces because they give unskilled players a chance in the game but the boards are flooded with them and they give a lot of coins progessively as the game approaches the end. The bonus minigames (which double the amount of coins you get) shouldn't be here because the game gives you already a lot of coins, why would you make the coin value decrease so much? It feels like the coins aren't as worth as before in the old days.

    - There animations are cool to see the first time you play but they become sluggish if you play every now and then, you just want to pass them faster e.g.: when you get an item, waiting three seconds everytime for the lucky space roulette to pop up so you stop it; the chain whistles take a huge amount of time (I try to avoid playing Horror Land because this item is everywhere in that board and the turns can take up a big chunk of time. Also, when you cross over the big counter in Space Land, the counters takes like FOUR seconds to lower a number and when it reaches zero, Bowser will shoot the coin beam EVEN if there are no players in range just making the time go to waste (the animations didn't trigger if there wasn't any player in range which was amazing, why see it if there's no one affected by it?).

    - Weird/Bad Selection of minigames: Roll Call = Goomba Spotting / Leaf Leap = What Goes Up... / Pokey Pummel doesn't need to be here if we have Cheep Cheep Chase and Mecha Marathon / Night Light Fright (the distance is hard to tell and sometimes feels unfair) / Dizzy Dancing got dumbed down (You can get several notes instead of one to win, which if fine, but the controls are reversed so it doesn't really mean anything unlike the original which screwed up your control scheme a lot and it felt really dizzy, that's the point o f the minigame...) / Piranha's Pursuit / Tidal Toss is incredibly unfair for the team, the waves hitbox is bigger than it looks / Pogo-a-go-go is the opposite, unfair for the single players, the platforms shifts gears too slow it's hard to lose on the team side / Hammer Drop is doesn't have a limit, I can get 70 coins in that game, the coin bags are too much there and if you have some skill your opponents might get 4 or 5 whilst you got 60 (wtf) / Sneak 'n' Snore control scheme is weird, I know how to play and to hide in time but it's really unintuitive. / Ticktock Hops put the player on the inner side of the clock hang in disadvantatge, unfair / Block Star from MP6... really?.

The overall selection is fine, I never cared much about how many there are from which game but, at least, spread equally the amount of minigames you give to each category (FFA, 2v2, etc...).

    There are 53 FFA, 18 2v2, 18 1v3, 5 1v1 and 6 extras. The amount could have been split better (something like 40 FFA, 22 2v2, 22 1v3, 10 1v1 and 6 Extras).

    Middle ground things:
    - The music for the boards are amazing but the music for many minigames is weird, some remixes are amazing (e.g.: On Your Toes for Storm Chasers), some are just unhearable (e.g.: Let's Have Some Fun for Cake Factory) and some are a bit wtf but ok (e.g.: No Fright, No Fear for Hot Rope Jump) although this a matter of taste but some can agree Cake Factory has an awful piece to listen to compared to the original in MP2. A quick note about the overall music is that Why did they let players choose between original music and remix for boards and not for minigames? I don't know, only Nintendo does.

    - The good things:
The side modes are nice / The game looks AMAZING and the boards remixes are nice, specially Space Land and Woody Woods in my opinion / The game as a whole is amazing and I have laughed so hard with friends, I can't tell how grateful I am they're going back to the good Mario Party ways / If you're an old fan, you're gonna enjoy it despite some inconveniences / If you're new, you're gonna love it, no joke, it's amazing / CLASSIC BONUS STARS ARE BACK

    - Minor complains:
They could have aimed everything towards the N64 era, including minigames, 100 minigames from MP1 - 3, I wouldn't have complained bc the N64 minigames had amazing music, and a lot of imagination going on, they were magical.
    - Why is there only one MP3 board while MP1 and MP2 got two boards each? Nintendo's decisions.
    - Why is there a toggle for CPU speed and not for everyone's speed?

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. All in all, Mario Party Superstars is a great game with lots of mini-games, cool strategies etc.. But honestly, the previous game is way better than this game especially that there was a two-player mode, a four-player mode (rafting) and the single-player game where you have to beat all minigames. Unfortunately, both games only have 5 boards which is a bit poor. The achievements forces 100%-player to buy 20 € for an online service and some of these challenges are literally impossible or easy when you cheat. My most-hated item: Chomp Call. They have intended this item in Mario Party 4 anyway but it wasn't necessary to include in this game too. But for the rest, we finally got the 10-sided cube, double cubes, triple cubes etc.. So, this game doesn't gain all points in my opinion due to the ridiculous achievements and somehow absurd coincidences. Expand

I love how many more options we are given compared to their previous entries. However, I had one problem. Only 5 boards? And only the n64? I think that nintendo should at least add DLC to add some later classic tracks(specifically Koopa's Tycoon Town). It's a strange decision, given that the minigames(btw i think the selection is GREAT) are from all the different mario parties(handhelds excluded). I wish they tried to include a board from every Mario Party 1-8. Overall, this is sublime, and if this game got DLC to truly make it the all in one definitive all in one Mario Party experience, it would be an easy 10 and probably the best game in the series. Great job NDCube. Expand

Mario Party; The Top 100 had 12 minigames from MP9, but Superstars only has 4. That game had my favorite minigame collection, and I think a lot of newer fans such as myself won't get the full experience. In addition, this game feels a little too similar to The Top 100. I believe more than half of the minigames are the same, and while some popular choices were obviously returning like Pushy Penguins and Shy Guy Says, I feel like they could have had some more minigames that haven't appeared in a while. The Top 100 also had the decathlon and championship battles, while Superstars is mostly just boards and minigames. This game is definitely better because it actually has interesting boards, and I'm glad the boards are finally fun again for the first time in 8 years. I do wish this game embraced all fans, instead of just the older ones though. Expand

Local multiplayer is lots of fun. You'll definitely have a good time with all those minigames! Surprisingly, online works pretty well (considering the bad reputation Nintendo's online service has). There's some lag now and then, but at least it's playable. The stickers are also a nice touch!

The design is amazing, although I wish there were more boards. Don't get me wrong, having 5 boards is definitely an improvement from the last entry. However, I believe that 6 boards would be ideal. I also wish the characters wore different clothes depending on the board, like in the original series.

As a matter of fact, the content is somewhat lacking. For example, I've found it way too easy to reach max level and collect all the items from Toad's shop. Once you've collected everything, there are basically no more ways to spend your gold coins.

Hopefully we'll get future updates with more content, such as boards, minigames, stickers and other unlockables... oh, and less lucky spaces!

Overall, excellent game and perhaps the best Mario Party entry, IMO.

Mario Party Superstars is essentially what I truly hoped The Top 100 could have been and a game I never thought they'd actually make; bringing back not only 100 mini-games from the series history, but also returning to the series true roots and bringing back five boards from the N64 titles. As a series fan since the very beginning, Superstars is a true homage to what made the series greatMario Party Superstars is essentially what I truly hoped The Top 100 could have been and a game I never thought they'd actually make; bringing back not only 100 mini-games from the series history, but also returning to the series true roots and bringing back five boards from the N64 titles. As a series fan since the very beginning, Superstars is a true homage to what made the series great while also including quality of life changes that the more modern Super Mario Party introduced. The mini-game line up is, for the most part, phenomenal and the board selections were just as good, even if I would've rather seen a few others.

There are a few nitpicks about this game, however, ones that I can deal with, but they are still details that could've made this game even better than it already is. I think the personal big thing for me is the somewhat imbalance of mini-game representation. I know it's clear that the N64 titles were the spotlight titles, but the rest of the series seems to take a back seat to them. Only Mario Party 6 managed to equal itself to an N64 title, but Mario Party 3 has literally double the amount of mini-games that both 1 and 6 have. And to address the MASSIVE elephant in the room, Mario Party 8 has only two mini-games in the entire roster. To say the least, the Wii/Wii U era was severely underrepresented. On top of the imbalanced mini-game representation, it's disappointing to see there isn't any sort of unlockable board or characters, something even Super Mario Party had. Beyond that, with the heavy focus on every mode having online, it leaves a lack of any sort of single player campaign. I'm not necessarily asking for a full story mode like in Mario Parties 3 or 4, but something as small as another Mini-Game Island would've been heavily appreciated, especially since The Top 100 did that so well.

Overall, I think Mario Party Superstars is the best title in the series in a long time. While I still praise Super Mario Party and place it up there with the greats, Superstars manages to top it easily. After the strange directions 9, 10, Island Tour and Star Rush took, Super Mario Party was a breath of fresh air, but Superstars is the true party I've been dreaming of. I really hope Nd Cube continues on this path for future installments.

A great release overall, though it would have benefitted massively from some more boards; you'll play through the five here fairly quickly, some sort of story mode, and a more appealing art style (the minimalism is rather forgettable). My only issue is that some of the mini games are just not that challenging and can be over In 2-3 seconds which almost makes them pointless. With a few tweaks these mini games could become as good as the others but in their current form you will probably end up never playing them again. A short look from an unexperienced eye could led to think of this as a weak follow up to even Super Mario Party, the previous game in the series, and that is unfortunately because the game IS indeed short on content. But for the fans this is the return to form we have always wanted.

For starters, the classic rules are back, this time, truly back. Super Mario Party had the intention to resuscitate the series, yet Nintendo's stubborn desire to mix things up and make the series 'somehow' more accesible led to some questionable decisions that ultimately hurt the design awfully- couple that with some uninspired boards and Mario's first Party on the Switch was little but a mid step into stardom.

Now things are back to normal. Stars cost 20 coins, Boo stealing cost 50 coins, important items like the golden pipe are more expensive and so on. Like I said, they look like small details, but all of them add up and ultimately make the game a lot more interesting, competitive, and super fun, just like it used to be.

Better yet, this is a celebration of the series, meaning 5 classic N64 boards have been remade and modernized ensuring quality board design- for the most part, with Peach's Birthday Cake being possibly the lone exception (Not a big fan). But really, Super Mario Party's boards don't hold a candle to whats here , not only from a design perspective, but from just simply the absolute charm and personality that is displayed on both their looks and their sound, both magnificent.

The mini-games are probably the only thing NdCube didn't messed up during the last decade of Mario Party, yet the return of 100 of a truly excellent selection of mini-games from the series past makes for what could be considered the best compilation the series has ever had. Almost all of them are extremely fun, and the developers really gave full care into remaking them- with all of them looking amazing. Whats more, all them have their original soundtrack remixed from each of their respective entry in the series. Its all great.

Plus, and this is the BIG plus- for the first time ever, the game has fully operational online gameplay and it works incredible. Yes, Super Mario Party was added online a couple of years after its release, but its definitely clear that, that was only test to what ultimately the developers wanted to achieve here. This is one of the more stable, if not the most stable online experience currently on the Nintendo Switch and truthfully, such care was needed to bring this series online. its no secret that a Mario Party match can last a long time so having a bad online infrastructure and/or bad stability would have harmed the matches profoundly. Yet, it works miraculously well, and this is truly the best addition the series could ever had. If you are a Mario Party fan you know that playing with friends or other people for that matter its where is at, and with this, its finally possible to do it any time you want. Excellent.

As of now, I have given this game much deserved praise, yet like I said the game still has one possible big issue. Lack of content. First with so much done well to bring back the series to its glory days, its somewhat disappointing to see some of its missteps. 5 boards is still one board less to any of the classic Mario Party titles up to the Gamecube (All had 6 or more) and there are no unlockable characters or mini-games. Some of the unlockables are fun, I enjoyed unlocking the Stickers to use them later at online matches, but aside from that, not much else.

There is no single player focused mode either- I know Mario Party is a game to be played with other people but for the sake of variety, some of the single player story modes in the series past where very appreciated. On the other hand, Mini-game Island is honestly somewhat lackluster, I appreciate the Daily Challenges and Survival Mode (both single player- online experiences) but aside from that there are no good modes to challenge your friends competitively on the mini-games.

This is why a naked eye could positively be confused at the time of comparing Mario Party Superstars to Super Mario Party which did had tons of extra modes to play, a single player mini-mode, and double the characters. This is definitely a fault, and I honestly do wish Nintendo decides to keep supporting the title- a new board or even 2 can go a long way, precisely because with the possiblity to now play online, it is meant to be played for a long time and 5 boards, as good as they are, can grow tiresome naturally.

Still if the long review wasn't obvious enough I still think this is an incredible game. Really, it cannot be stressed enough how a great of a job Nintendo and Ndcube treated this return to form for a series that I deeply love. Like I said, its all in the details. Thank you Nintendo.

The game is fun as expected in multiplayer. The Ai is so unbalanced it’s ridiculous. If playing in single player all 3 AI will actively try to screw your over turning the game into a 3V1 scenario. Now I get the ai sucked in Mario Party Superstars but this is truly unfair.

didn't expected this game, but this is the mario party all we needed. it's the closest to the original series, there are still some missing features, like the cosplays on MP2, the bossfights, the original sequences after finishing the boards..

this is an 8, but the online (good one) makes it a 9, so fun playing boards with my friends online.

This game is a true homage to the original three Mario Party games for Nintendo 64, with lots of quality of life improvements and several of the better features from the later Mario Party games. It has the true spirit of the original trilogy. With friends, the game is easily a 9/10. Without friends, they did an excellent job by adding features to keep it entertaining, but it will always miss that magic of talking trash with your friends. The matchmaking is pretty solid, they implemented a chat system by being able to send various stickers during gameplay which makes it more interactive with the other players, and they added an experience system that allows you to get more unlockables (including chat stickers). Everything was implemented very well and definitely makes playing alone better, but it will be missing the true experience. All in all, I’m genuinely impressed with this game, they went back to the roots of what made the series special and added a lot of more modern features to improve on the formula. Definitely best enjoyed with friends. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The game is so flawed with so many easy mini games the board have too many lucky boards and less spaces. Also if you play with the N64 controller that came for switch pretty much becomes unplayable on dungeon duos and other mini games that require the X and Y button apparently Nintendo didn’t think about that. Also good mini games that they are missing is Grab bag day at the races and Toad in the box good mini games and not simple and easy ones. Also 1st place player can abuse the game of getting golden pipes And the lucky spots if he or she has the curse block this game is too easy to abuse imo. At the same time the online is good so its meh but i don’t plan to utilize tbh. Also where is a bowser map like almost every mario party had a bowser map and now they have possibly decided not to and possibly will put in a DLC to Cash grab. Overall this game is flawed with Alot of things to abuse in the game. Expand

This is a very good game. Easily the best Mario Party game in years. However, it's still a Mario Party game.

The graphics are fantastic, and as good as anything I'd expect out of Nintendo. The game runs really well and the sounds are quite good. The game uses 5 classic maps and those maps still play exactly as they used to. Space Land, Woody Woods, and Horror Land are my favorite.

The game uses 5 classic maps and those maps still play exactly as they used to. Space Land, Woody Woods, and Horror Land are my favorite. The fact that the star moves so frequently adds to the fun. Peach's Birthday Cake and Yoshi's Tropical Island are also fun, but I don't like them as much as the first three.

If you've never played a Mario Party game, it's like a board game with mini games in between each round of turns. Each person rolls a dice and moves that many spaces and the space you land on determines what happens. It also determines exactly how the mini game might play out. You could get a 1 vs 3, a 2 vs 2 or a 1 vs 1 vs 1 vs 1, depending on if people landed on good spaces, bad spaces or neutral spaces.

All in all, it's a fun experience, but very multiplayer focused. Fun at parties with lots of people, but not something you'd want to play if you are just wanting to play by yourself. There is online play, which adds a lot to that aspect with both friends and random people online, but ultimately it really isn't a whole lot of content. A very fun game, but could really just use more of everything. More maps, more mini games, more playable characters, more content is really what's needed here. The basic gameplay is exactly what fans of Mario Party have wanted for years, but it just needs that extra bit of content to make it perfect.

A combination of everything great from the previous Mario Partys. Couldnt ask for anything more. After the many struggles the series has been through recently this is a breath of fresh yet familiar air that I never want to lose again. Whilst its nice to get a new Mario Party considering that Nintendo more or less abandoned the previous one, even though gameplay wise it was more solid than previous versions but I honestly was expecting so much more for superstars, I was expecting pretty much a remaster entire first 5 games instead you get 5 boards from previous games which are arguably meh to good at best and the 'top' 100 mini-games, the unlockables are shallow and do really nothing for the game at all, mostly stickers and cards, basically Super Stars is more like a collection of mini-games with everything else an afterthought.

The boards are all mostly small and seriously lack features from other series that made the games more fun, couple that with the still frustrating and the bonuses at the end are a joke, you could literally go from 1st place to last place and lose just because you didn't land on enough red spaces, winning mini-games doesn't seem to really matter anymore either, as long as you have enough coins for a star then you could lose practically every mini-game and still end up winning the entire game.

The bonus rewards are always way more biased now towards the AI if you play single player, I've literally yet to win any game unless I've been at least 3 stars ahead of 2nd place, all other times you get robbed of any wins effectively making the past hour you spent battling out a complete waste of time, turning off random bonuses is a must and even then, you can see very clearly what the AI is doing several turns in advance of what its going to do, it is *very* predictable.

A phenomenal party board game that does just what it sets out to do. I wish ND Cube developed new boards, but that's a minor nitpick. I also wish custom dice for each characters was still in the game as AN OPTION, but at the end of the day, most people would disagree with that. Mario Party Superstars is the best of the modern installments and shines a bright light on the future of the series.

My history with the Mario Party series is not that deep, I have memories as a kid of playing the N64 games but never played the Gamecube or Wii games. I did play the recent Super Mario Party for Switch which got about 60-70 hours of game time shared between me, my girlfriend and our friend group, and as fun as that experience was, there was definitely some stuff missing from that game. ButMy history with the Mario Party series is not that deep, I have memories as a kid of playing the N64 games but never played the Gamecube or Wii games. I did play the recent Super Mario Party for Switch which got about 60-70 hours of game time shared between me, my girlfriend and our friend group, and as fun as that experience was, there was definitely some stuff missing from that game. But here is Mario Party Superstars, a blast from the past and full of all that goodness that can cause the ultimate betrayals among the people you play with!

Mario Party Superstars includes 5 total boards from the original 3 Nintendo 64 games. There is 2 boards from the first game, 2 from the second, and 1 from the third. Graphically, the game has been updated and all the boards look amazing, if you were a fan of the original games, this will be special for you. The boards themselves haven't changed in terms of how you play on them, aside from some differences here and there, it definitely has the newer Mario Party feel when compared to the more recent Super Mario Party and some additions that wasn't there in the original, like the lucky spaces, there is a lot of them though I feel this was to give casual and/or newer players more of a chance against the veterans who know their Mario Party. For the most part, it feels like the same boards as you remember.

There are a total of 100 minigames, all taken from games across Mario Party from 1-10 which is pretty awesome. There was a lot of recognizable games here and some may have made me glance at the palm of my hand, I am still recovering from my N64 injuries of playing Tug o’ War, which is included here but also comes with a warning to NOT use the palm of your hand which got a giggle out of me. Overall I am happy with the game inclusions, I am sure there are people out there who didn't get their favourites but you aren't going to please everybody. There is a lot of variety in the games and plenty to enjoy.

My time has only been spent playing it with my girlfriend at the moment with 2 CPUs. We have both played all the boards now and have had an absolute blast. I have not had the chance to play online yet though my girlfriend most definitely has, she is quite into the game and plays it against people online each day since it was released, to the point where I had to buy her the game for her own Switch as she kept using mine.

Online inclusion is great and you can play full boards with other people from across the world, with stickers to help you communicate with them. Online play with the full boards was something that was missing from the last Mario Party so its great to see it in this one. For the performance online, even watching her I can see some regular lag during mini games especially that probably will be a little difficult to make the experience incredibly enjoyable, but overall it still seems playable.

Final Rating - This is a fantastic game for a group of people to play or even just by yourself (though most fun with people), it brings you such a huge amount of nostalgia but is also great for newcomers too. Online being included is also a necessary and highly welcomed feature as there are people who are still in lockdown or have restrictions on groups of people in one place so props to Nintendo for that, its not something they typically do well. Definitely a game to pick up, you will have a lot of fun!

    - A draw minigame result rewards players all players? If a game has some sort of competition and 2 players end up in a draw, why are they both being rewarded in the same way as they would have won? A fair result would be to split the reward in 2.
    - I think the game has a decent net code, but sometimes the other players have a very unstable connection that actually may affect the outcome. Especially survival that you may lose because of an unstable connection and lose the winning strike.
    - I am aware that there are bonus stars, but sometimes the categories could be more about rewarding effort than just rewarding randomness. People who won most of the games/coins, use/purchase more items, etc. instead of rewarding somebody that landed on red spaces?
    - Add the options to cancel the game search whenever you want.

That's it. In general, is a good game that needs some game balance to make it more "fair." A must have for Mario Party lovers.

Lucky spaces are everywhere on the boards. Why even bother calling it lucky if it isn't doesn't take any actual luck to land on them. Speaking of boards, the greedy developers gave us only 5 boards that are reworked from previous Mario Party games. It's already bad enough that the developers couldn't even bother to create new boards, so why couldn't they give us more than 5 boards from previous Mario Party games? That is just laziness at this point. Speaking of laziness, there isn't even a proper story mode.

Online works smoothly. You can play with other players on the boards and minigames. As expected, you can also play it locally and alone with bots. This game definitely has tons of replay value both online and offline. Very fun to play but it needs a bit more content to justify that $60 price tag. I recommend you get this game until it is like $30-$40.
