    Mail Mole
    it doesn’t deliver.
Mail mole is a 3d platformer with the dna of some of the best platformers of all time.. I was getting vibes of sponebob battle for bikin bottom, crash bandicoot, but more notably Super Mario 3D world.. it’s the latter than Mail Mole draws its inspiration from the most.. you play as a mail mole, you go from level to level in these hub worlds, gets to a mail

Mail mole is a 3d platformer with the dna of some of the best platformers of all time.. I was getting vibes of sponebob battle for bikin bottom, crash bandicoot, but more notably Super Mario 3D world.. it’s the latter than Mail Mole draws its inspiration from the most.. you play as a mail mole, you go from level to level in these hub worlds, gets to a mail box and slowly bring back power so that the cannons can shoot you to further and further levels as well as power up other cannons to take you to different worlds… in these worlds are carrots and turnups to collect… gameplay wise youll be smashing boxes and jsu platforming underground which is super unique.. howver the uniqueness stops there.. mail mole otherwise offers nothing worth your attention.. it feels like a shell of a game.. the levels all feel generic, they can feel frustration, and ultimately it all just feels pointless…
Th collectables for instance don’t do anything but unlock cosmetics.. so its really not worth trying to collect everything you can, especially with such challenging platforming and practically non existent checkpoints… back to 3D world, it’s the same checkpoint system.. one checkpoint in the middle… the only difference is, its rarely the platforming that kills you in 3D world… its enemies… here it’s the platforming, one wrong move and you have to redo sections and sections of just unfun platforming… which is really at the fault of the mechanics.. you just feel so slow, you have the option to speed up and naturally in platformers you feel running is how you make further jumps… but the problem with mail mole is that the input doesn’t seem to be able to read running and jumping at the same time consistently… so a lot of the times I fell it was because I feel the game didn’t read my jump input, and not because I didn’t time a jump properly… forcing a retrace of my steps to get back to where I was, only for it to happen again and again.. something that could be fixed with a better more forgiving checkpoint system.. and every now and then as youre making your way through the game youll be visted by a no good turtle of course, and go through a pretty once again annoying boss bottle… it’s a shame mail mole is just so unfun of a game, it looks cute, there is such a variety of worlds here.. it just doesn’t deliver in the gameplay department…
    I give Mail Mole
    a 5.5/10

"All in all, Mail Mole is a rather poor overall experience. Unoriginality, mixed with unpolished graphics, awful music, and controls that don’t quite work, all make for a rather unpleasant game. Despite the cheap price, there are many far better 3D platformers available on the Switch you should be playing instead."

I don’t get why any non AAA game not so famous get allways low scores in metacritic. Is like non AAA game cannot get 10 unless it gets famous for an extrain reason. 98% positive reviews on steam an a 6 in metacritic? How? This game is better game than any AAA title and noone could denied it.

I was looking to scratch my 3D platformer itch, but in the end, Molty couldn't quite offer the relief I so desperately crave! [Issue #52 – May/June 2021, p. 21]

As I said up top, it’s intriguing, if nothing else. Probably not intriguing enough to sustain a whole game, but there are still some interesting ideas to be found in Mail Mole that make it worth your time if you feel like taking a bit of a risk.

A fun game with a good 3D platforming level design. You will not find anything new, but all the challenges it proposes are very entertaining. Although somewhat limited technically and with an original but not 100% satisfactory control, it is a good game that is worth playing.
