Each floor offers a unique level design which makes one eager to see what's offered in the next level. The piano boss fight is well implemented along with the music. Each level is carefully designed with great attention to detail and the amount of diversity that level offered impressed me a lot. Ex: There's a level for mummies, a castle level and a pirate level. All of them are super detailed and crafted.

The bosses are fun and not challenging. It's more of solving the puzzle which is good if you want anti souls like games just to relax.

Luigi's Mansion 3 deserves something more than 9 for it's amazing attention to detail and floor designs. A 9.5 for sure.

However, it was undeniable the amount of work that must have gone into this game. The levels and puzzles were very well thought out and the cut scenes were great. Once I had put about 5 hours into the game the buttons became second nature and found myself finding better hidden gems in later levels than the more obviously placed once I passed over at the beginning. It was satisfying figuring out how to beat each boss, as discovering their weakness was always a puzzle itself. Overall, pleasantly surprised. I’m sure someday I’ll purchase Luigi’s Mansion 4. Expand

You just need to get used to its controls. Due to the fix cameras in this 3D game it can be hard to aim with the vacuum cleaner, aka the Poltergust G-00, especially vertically. Another aspect which needs to get used to is the fact that Luigi and Gooigi (Luigi's carbon copy in green jelly) can't jump properly, steps and podiums can become insuperable obstacles. And sometimes a certain linearity can install during game play, luckily it's been broken sometimes by unexpected events.
On the plus side we have the advices of E.Gadd the scientist without those it would've taken me much longer to finish the game. Then it's big fun to alternate the control between Luigi and Gooigi, from time to time they even need to act simultaneously.
But the greatest thing about this game are the boss battles, each different and needing specific tactics.
Finally I also liked the nearly senseless money gathering, which reminded me of Wario platformers, games I particularly cherish.

This game is a nice addition to the Switch's library, one of those games you better don't miss if you own the console.

I'd like to thank Nintendo for keeping Luigi to say 'Mario', wondering where is he. My father used to find so funny that luigi quote. Unfortunatley, he passed away and I couldn't show him that voice line. Overall the fun in this game is funny and keeps similar to the previous titles. The graphics are nice in contrast with illumination and light spots from the scennery. It's a must have!

    + Polterpup.

    Cons:
    - VERY SHORT campaign (finished in 19 hours, all Boos, 74/102 gems, all but one rare ghost).
    - Gameplay is extremely one note from beginning to end.
    - Collectible items are there to solely pad playtime.
    - Controls are often sluggish and imprecise.
    - No selectable user difficulty levels.
    - The low health beep sound effect is way too loud and annoying and can die in a ghost fire.
    - Multiplayer is poorly designed and half-heartedly tacked on.

All told, I'd give the total package a 7.5, perhaps rounded up to an 8 if I'm feeling generous. It's a decent enough title, but still second tier compared to other Nintendo properties like Super Mario Odyssey, Mario Kart, Zelda: Breath of the Wild, or Splatoon 2.

Definitely a "should play" on the Nintendo Switch. Not quite up there with Odyssey and BoTW. Small things detract from the overall experience.

The cutscenes are cute, but not very immersive. Just a bit more voice acting "more than mumble speech" would be good, especially when you see the characters mouths moving.

Not being able to SKIP the cutscenes, especially when the play after you die, was annoying.

More is not better. Having multiple different actions on the same button because they ran out of buttons they could use was bad (dark light + primary action on the same button). There were times where I felt like I didn't have good control of the character.

None of the puzzles were crazy obscure, some required some crazy good timing.

The fact that it's a collect-a-thon that doesn't let you continue after you "beat the game" without returning to a point in your save where you haven't won (a la Breath of the Wild) was annoying. Taking AWAY the in-game achievement for finishing the game was downright annoying.
overall a very good game, special and worthy of the legacy of the original.

I only mention this because I feel there are probably others that passed on earlier Nintendo consoles, and may also be experiencing this series for the first time. What can you expect?

Mario + Ghostbusters, pretty much what you think. There are a few nagging issues (the controls are finicky and tough to get use to, and the MP mode is devoid of any campaign co-op option) but overall this game is incredibly satisfying and fun.

One thing that stood out was presentation. I'm a Nintendo fan, so I say this with love - Nintendo is terrible at presentation in games. I've never cared about Mario, Luigi, Peach or Toad as actual characters, and I doubt many others have either. However the amount of distinction they are given in this title is inspiring.

From Luigi's hilariously over the top "scared Italian" voice to Mario only speaking in Mario euphemisms - it was a delightful presentation of character that is sorely missing in other games they are featured in. The animations of Luigi are entertaining too - I just about died laughing the first time I noticed "scared face".

There is so much charm here its almost sickening, but its cut nicely by the dark and dreary atmosphere the game creates.

Difficulty is there, surprisingly. It doesn't ramp up until about halfway through - but that's still much sooner than most Nintendo FP titles that leave the difficulty spike for the last damn level.

There IS local co-op, in the form of one person handling the gooey and green Luigi variant "Gooigi" - but this also must be unlocked past the main campaign tutorial section.

The humor was a little more relate-able than usual, not really darker or more mature but certainly more encompassing of the adult players. Some references I'm sure no kid is going to understand.

Nintendo continued to be the "Disney" of gaming, creating entertaining and varying games from their staple cast of familiar faces. It's refreshing to find each time I pick something up - it feels fresh, not just a regurgitation of past ideas. Still the same for Luigi - and now I'll be a lifelong fan of this series as well.

    Worth a buy 8/10
