Despite having spent plenty of time in Littlewood (yes, I kept the default name for my town), I still often find myself wondering when the other shoe is going to drop. When will I be thrust back into a life of combat to defend the town and community that I have spent hours upon hours rebuilding? There’s been nothing to indicate that that is going to happen, and I hope nothing ever will. I have every intention of continuing my journey in Littlewood for a long time - whether that comes in the form of extended hour-long playthroughs or five to ten minutes at a time.

A crystalized version of everything good about its genre, Littlewood succeeds by giving the player all the tools they need early and still finds ways to surprise and delight over years of play, both in-game, and likely in real life too.

Littlewood is so gosh darn cozy. From the charming characters to the low-stakes RPG fun, there’s plenty to love in this interesting entry in the farm-sim genre. It may be the only game of its kind that is truly “pick up and play.” Or, like me, you can sink in plenty of hours and get lost in all that cuteness.

All in all, Littlewood is certainly worth picking up if you’re in the market for a peaceful, relaxing and charming game that doesn’t demand too much of you, especially now that it’s available on the ever-portable Switch. You can certainly get out the spreadsheets and graph paper to try and optimise every aspect of your playthrough, but it’s arguably more enjoyable to just take each day as it comes, do a bit here and there, and see how things go. A bit like life, really.

Littlewood defies tradition with its unique premise, proving that Happy Ever Afters really can happen. Having control over how world reconstruction occurs is a huge bonus, enabling everyone to have an individual style with endless scope for personalisation, even with resident demands. Gameplay will stretch into dozens of hours, with you having the freedom to focus on whatever aspect of rebuilding you want, subject to certain quests being carried out.

For people who loved the collect-craft-combat loop of Fantasy Life, this game might scratch that same itch, and it'll certainly take up a fair few hours – even if the "combat" part is missing. Littlewood is an incredibly impressive game for a solo developer, and though none of its ideas go particularly deep, it more than makes up for it in breadth. Fans of the life sim genre should definitely seek this one out.

Littlewood will charm the pants off you with its delightful world and characters, but mechanically feels like the lite version of more established management sims out there. Providing that’s what you’re looking for, you can’t go wrong with this little gem.

Littlewood is a picturesque escape into a magical world that doesn’t expect anything more than your own enjoyment. If you’re sick of the pressures of daily life, then quit being a hero and take some time in Littlewood.

Littlewood's warm setting, deep customization, and endearing characters make it one of the better farm-sims on Nintendo Switch. The grind is real, but if you can look beyond that, Littlewood's homey setting, warm characters, and endless customization make it much more than just another farm sim.

If you like stardew valley, harvest moon, etc you will probably love this game. All the characters are written very cute and I was driven to actually want to see every event they had (usually in these kind of games I get bored of the dialogue pretty quick and just focus on making money!) The music is very peaceful, the sound design is well done (love hearing rain when inside a building) and the designs are all very adorable. Fair warning, this game WILL suck you in after your first few hours so be prepared to lose track of time! Full Review »

This game is very simplistic that there’s literally no mistakes you can make. Your in charge of your own town. You create & design it however you wish without having a deadline, time is infinite in this game. The townsfolk are quite charming, they give you tasks & you can hangout with them. Crafting is beautifully designed in this game aswell as farming. The music is very calm and joyful. Go out and adventure in a hot air balloon to far off places to get materials and even fight monsters. I wish I can tell you more but I’ve been playing this game for only a day now and I couldn’t help but write a review. This is proof that you don’t need to make a triple A game with the best graphics to create a masterpiece. Sometimes those masterpieces are found in a small indie game called LittleWood :) Full Review »

It took me a third of a year just to buy the bookshelf blueprint, nevermind a single potato. And because fish are seasonal I was locked out of a huge number of recipes for a YEAR because i can't buy a Spring minnow. Also needs more music. Full Review »
