For all the time that has passed, Limbo remains a benchmark of the genre that few other games have come within sniffing distance of. It’s nearly unparalleled in terms of presentation and design, and this latest port to Switch has maintained everything about the game that makes it special. While some might lament the lack of any additional content, I wholeheartedly beg to differ. Limbo is a game that doesn’t need a single bit added, removed, or rearranged. It’s a classic in every sense and deserves to be played by as many people as possible.

Eight years later, Limbo is still a great game to play.

Despite the short length it's easy to recommend LIMBO to anyone who enjoys puzzle games, especially given the way the game expertly crafts a foreboding atmosphere with a minimum of graphics and sounds. If you played the game when it was originally released, you'll find that it has aged well and is still wholly capable of sucking you back in the way it did when you first played it. If you're new to LIMBO, then it's about time you played this classic indie game.

Limbo is the living proof you don’t need 4K nor huge open-world to create a great game. And it still great today, in 2018, on Nintendo Switch. But beware of the light’s reflections on its screen.

Limbo is probably the perfect dark, side scrolling puzzle-platformer.

For a game of this age, it still delivers on all levels, especially with the simplistic yet challenging gameplay and the gorgeous presentation and clever puzzles. Even though you are given very few details as far as plot is concerned you can’t help but invest yourself in the plight of the young boy. For a challenging adventure, and some giant ass spiders, you can’t look past Limbo on the Nintendo Switch, especially if you haven’t played it on another platform.

Limbo’s idea of a challenge is to lure you into false solutions until you happen upon the one that works, that is to say, if it works within the parameters of your limited movement. But the harsh truth is that trial and error is actually quite easy once you accept its inevitability. In fact, at that point it even manages to be minimally frustrating. The real issue is that it’s just so overwhelmingly dull, so mentally unstimulating, akin to floating in some kind of... limbo. Hm.

Now the story is short being 3-4 hours, but the experience you get is some of the best on switch. I have played this game on IOS, XBOX 360, and WINDOWS 10 but this is the best one yet! The controls are great, the way they display it is something to be framed, and the ending leaves you questioning and theorizing. This is a must have for Switch owners!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The first thing I want to stress out is that I do not hate this game, far from it, I think it's really good and I do recommend it if you like it but this one problem I have pretty much kills any replay value for me personally but I will get to that. I want to start off by saying is that this game being black and white is a BRILLIANT decision since a world with color could've potentially made the game look bland and generic and so because of this, it looks strangely beautiful in a way I never could've imagined and this correlates greatly into the atmosphere since any screenshot or video will showcase the atmosphere perfectly and it's extremely immersive and helps you feel attached to this world. The gameplay is simple yet good enough to the point where it'll be all you ever need to continue on your journey. The puzzles are surprisingly good since you actually need to THINK and it can feel pretty good to solve them on your own since this game always has new puzzles and they never give you any hints to solve them meaning you're on your own in solving them which is exactly what this game wants you to feel plus there are even specific collectables hidden away in the level design to ensure you're always on the lookout. I never really thought I'd say this, but the animations are surprisingly good for what they are even down to the main character. Now easily the worst part about this game for me personally and the main reason why I don't see myself replaying it is because of the story or lack there-of one. Basically, the game is about how a young boy waking up in the middle of nowhere and just has to go somewhere and along the way, he must deal with massive spiders, electricity puzzles, villagers, magnetic puzzles etc. in order to find the boy's sister. While this sounds interesting, the problem here is that it never tells you anything and it never explains why all of this even exists like why are there giant spiders, why do these villagers hate you, why do both of these belong in the past while there's also electricity here so what time did this occur? But most importantly, it never even said why we were even going on this journey to begin with and I didn't even know I reached the ending when the credits rolled because the game was never building up to one and when I saw the boy's sister, I was confused and NO, multiple playthroughs didn't answer the question. Now it could mean that the studio was just trying to make a game that was fun that just had puzzles, a good atmosphere, and didn't need to think about the story, it doesn't work for me because that's not why I play video games anymore, I play them to get a good story I'll remember for the rest of my life which is honestly why I'm glad they took into consideration in their next game "Inside". Overall, you can believe the people who gave this game 10's and 9's if you want because this game is without a doubt for them and I don't really doubt that it could be for you too; however, I'm a person who wants a story to be told and with how Limbo doesn't even have a story and instead relies on puzzles, big creatures without understanding why they exist, electricity that doesn't fit into a world with Natives, and even rescuing a sister who probably wasn't even in danger for all I care, this is a game that I do not see myself coming back to.
