This has to be my favorite way to play yet. Now the story is short being 3-4 hours, but the experience you get is some of the best on switch. The sound design is fantastic with audio cues sometimes the only thing giving you a hint to what lies ahead and the aesthetic is suitably gloomy and foreboding. The gameplay mechanics are simple, intuitive and don't outstay their welcome in this short but worthwhile adventure.

Even though this is a short game, it is often challenging and occasionally left me stumped as to how to progress. If you are after a short game with fantastic art and a bleak horror setting to take on the go this is for you. I can't wait to sink my teeth into the teams follow up 'Inside' which is next on my hit list.

With another art direction, Limbo would be a pleasant, but ultimately irrelevant puzzle-platformer. Instead, its creepy, subtly unnerving style makes it an experience you won't forget. Other games tried to pad simple gameplay with gorgeous art: Gris comes to mind. They all lack something. In the case of Gris, its gameplay is a tad too simplistic and repetitive. In the case of other games, the art not quite up there. Limbo does it right on both counts.

Disclaimer: Limbo is short. If you're one of those gamers who like getting lost in a long experience, you might be disappointed. My first playthrough of Limbo, with a friend, started after a late dinner. When we finished the game, stunned and fascinated, it was light outside. But those few hours have been hard to forget, and I had to relive them by playing through the game again on the Switch.

The game is absolutely brilliant and the playability is perfect. The feeling of progress is incredible.
The unic problem is the duration, it last 6h. The playhablity and the mechanics could offer 6 hour more.

The game is well designed. It provides a lot of fun. It is definitely an example of how games should be created. The only drawback for me is its length, the game is too short for me.

Simple and minimalistic, but with a unique and intriguing artistic flair. I liked the style a lot.
Puzzles were well thought out and interesting offering a perfect balance of challenge with out being frustrating. It hook me and motivated me to solve each challenge out of curiosity of what they came up with next. I can easily recommend. I'm off to see what they're other title "INSIDE" is all about.

Great game! The ambience and art are spot on. It’s perfectly made , controls respond on point. Love the mood (creepy) created. It’s an adult puzzler-platform game. There are some dismembering scenes, just in case you plan on playing it with youngsters. It’s a classic cult game!

Nice little 2D puzzle platformer with a depressing atmosphere rarely seen in a video game.
Just right for the month of October.
I just would have liked a little more elaborate soundtrack, the actual one is a tad too minimalistic.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The first thing I want to stress out is that I do not hate this game, far from it, I think it's really good and I do recommend it if you like it but this one problem I have pretty much kills any replay value for me personally but I will get to that. I want to start off by saying is that this game being black and white is a BRILLIANT decision since a world with color could've potentially made the game look bland and generic and so because of this, it looks strangely beautiful in a way I never could've imagined and this correlates greatly into the atmosphere since any screenshot or video will showcase the atmosphere perfectly and it's extremely immersive and helps you feel attached to this world. The gameplay is simple yet good enough to the point where it'll be all you ever need to continue on your journey. The puzzles are surprisingly good since you actually need to THINK and it can feel pretty good to solve them on your own since this game always has new puzzles and they never give you any hints to solve them meaning you're on your own in solving them which is exactly what this game wants you to feel plus there are even specific collectables hidden away in the level design to ensure you're always on the lookout. I never really thought I'd say this, but the animations are surprisingly good for what they are even down to the main character. Now easily the worst part about this game for me personally and the main reason why I don't see myself replaying it is because of the story or lack there-of one. Basically, the game is about how a young boy waking up in the middle of nowhere and just has to go somewhere and along the way, he must deal with massive spiders, electricity puzzles, villagers, magnetic puzzles etc. in order to find the boy's sister. While this sounds interesting, the problem here is that it never tells you anything and it never explains why all of this even exists like why are there giant spiders, why do these villagers hate you, why do both of these belong in the past while there's also electricity here so what time did this occur? But most importantly, it never even said why we were even going on this journey to begin with and I didn't even know I reached the ending when the credits rolled because the game was never building up to one and when I saw the boy's sister, I was confused and NO, multiple playthroughs didn't answer the question. Now it could mean that the studio was just trying to make a game that was fun that just had puzzles, a good atmosphere, and didn't need to think about the story, it doesn't work for me because that's not why I play video games anymore, I play them to get a good story I'll remember for the rest of my life which is honestly why I'm glad they took into consideration in their next game "Inside". Overall, you can believe the people who gave this game 10's and 9's if you want because this game is without a doubt for them and I don't really doubt that it could be for you too; however, I'm a person who wants a story to be told and with how Limbo doesn't even have a story and instead relies on puzzles, big creatures without understanding why they exist, electricity that doesn't fit into a world with Natives, and even rescuing a sister who probably wasn't even in danger for all I care, this is a game that I do not see myself coming back to. I think I would have liked this game more if I had played it BEFORE I played Inside (made by the same people). Both are good games that create very creepy atmospheres. My advice, if yor only going to play one of the two, play Inside. But if yoo plan on playing both, play this first, THEN play Inside.

A solid game from Playdead, bested only by Inside. Short and sweet, with great graphics and controls. For a game from 2011 (10 years old at the time of writing) Limbo still looks great. Not as great as Inside, sure, but still well worth playing. Story is a bit thin here, but it has a few nice little teasers along the way that will give you enough hints to form your own opinions. I'd definitely recommend playing if you haven't done already. Limbo me ha parecido un gran juego de puzles, ya que estos son bastante ingeniosos y originales, llegando en algunos momentos a tener que pensar bastante para poder completarlos.

Despite the short length it's easy to recommend LIMBO to anyone who enjoys puzzle games, especially given the way the game expertly crafts a foreboding atmosphere with a minimum of graphics and sounds. If you played the game when it was originally released, you'll find that it has aged well and is still wholly capable of sucking you back in the way it did when you first played it. If you're new to LIMBO, then it's about time you played this classic indie game.

For all the time that has passed, Limbo remains a benchmark of the genre that few other games have come within sniffing distance of. It’s nearly unparalleled in terms of presentation and design, and this latest port to Switch has maintained everything about the game that makes it special. While some might lament the lack of any additional content, I wholeheartedly beg to differ. Limbo is a game that doesn’t need a single bit added, removed, or rearranged. It’s a classic in every sense and deserves to be played by as many people as possible.
