Much like the enemy forces within it, Kingdom Rush: Frontiers marches down a well worn path, but the layered mechanics, bright dynamic level design and furiously fast gameplay keep the experience feeling fresh from start to finish.

Kingdom Rush Frontiers isn’t breaking any new ground, but it really nails the staples of the tower defense genre. It's simple to learn but tricky to master, has cute graphics, and gives enough variation to sustain you through the whole campaign.

Kingdom Rush Frontiers may bring the genre back to basics but it does everything so exceptionally well that you'll be hooked for hours.

Kingdom Rush isn’t even that great by tower defence standards. The towers are generic and bland, and enemy hordes are entirely predictable.

Its music is the most epic. Every tower has a clear use and is balanced. Heroes can be delicately maneuvered to maximize their efficiency by a large margin, rewarding high-level play. The post-game stages have a ton of replay value and memorable bonus features. For anyone with an interest in games like this, there is no reason not to buy the best of the best. Keep in mind that this purchase comes with all of the heroes, hence the higher starting price. If you were to purchase this on mobile, all of the premium content would be locked behind a paywall that ultimately would cost even more than the starting price of the game on Switch. With this in mind, I see the Switch version of Frontiers as the definitive edition and a must-buy for fans of the series. Full Review »
