What most winds up dragging down Melody of Memory, ironically, is that it tries too hard to be a Kingdom Hearts adventure rather than a cohesive rhythm game. [Issue #50 – January/February 2021, p. 69]

I haven't been as conflicted about a rhythm game as I have Melody of Memory. On the one hand, the rhythm game action itself is wonderful and the music, across 140 tracks, is sublime. On the other hand, being forced to play through a truncated and baffling summary of the Kingdom Hearts narrative just to unlock those tracks has done little to enamour me to the series, and there are far, far too many little additions that distract from what the game does best (i.e. the rhythm action). The grand sum of it is that Melody of Memory is much more a game for existing fans of Kingdom Hearts than it needed to be, and once again Square Enix has struggled to fully capitalise on the rich opportunity that the Disney license provides them.

Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory is a good mobile rhythm game, which has the downside of being sold at full price. Along with this, the original content is limited to just 20 minutes in a 10-hour adventure.

A love letter to the music of Kingdom Hearts and a fab way to summarise the story, but it can get rather repetitive at times.

While it’s very short on story, Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory is a neat celebration of the Dark Seeker Saga before moving on. With a huge selection of fantastic tunes and a fun yet simplistic control scheme, this game will keep fans busy until Kingdom Hearts IV.

The rhythm game developed mainly for the Kingdom Hearts fans recycles old material (the story consists of cutscenes from previous games of the series), but makes an interesting use of it, offers plenty of content and is overall well-designed. [01/2021, p.66]

Greatly inspiredFantastic rhythm game if you're a big fan of the Kingdom Hearts series. The music is great and the gameplay is pretty unique. Greatly inspired by Final Fantasy Theatrhythm and that was one of my favorite rhythm games out there. The story is more of a recap of the series told by Kairi. Dont expect anything major in terms of continuing the plot. I mean it's a rhythm game., a really fun rhythm game I can see myself going back to for many hours. Full Review »

If you're into Rhythm games or just a fan of KH, you will enjoy this game, even if you're a Smash Bros fan, because Dearly Beloved ia available for free if ypu have Sora and this game.

Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory was made by same developers that released The Theatrhythm games on 3DS. The game is more action based than previous FF titles, but don't you worry as you still have a choice to select your difficulty level for each track. This time, you unlock new tracks by going through world tour and completing simple tasks, you also get KH story recap as you progress through the game and each individual title from KH universe. Boss battles, cinematics, online play and a lot of stuff to collect is also included. Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory is sure to hold your attention for tens of hours as you will keep encountering familiar songs and get better with ratings. Full Review »
