The idea behind this game is brilliant, the parallel turn based tactical aspect is a great choice to micro manage split second moments and then to finally replay the whole engagement in real time, it does feel like John Wick at work.

The idea behind this game is brilliant, the parallel turn based tactical aspect is a great choice to micro manage split second moments and then to finally replay the whole engagement in real time, it does feel like John Wick at work.

However, the game is far from perfect, the lack of other possible actions or moves that John Wick could have performed (like interacting with objects or even enemies' bodies as part of strategy), and the janky animation that badly needs smoother transition and variety that would have made the experience less repetitive, the lack of perks or special abilities to help John Wick against the worst situations, the long game startup loading on Switch.

it feels like a prototype of something greater to come, and I am hoping for a more polished version in the near future, it would be very interesting indeed. I gave it an 8 because it is a good unique take on a tactical turn based strategy that I would very much be hopeful for its next iteration.

A flawed but fascinating addition to an excellent action film franchise. [Issue #51 – March/April 2021, p. 70]

John Wick Hex was a great experience. Players looking for a straightforward third-person shooter should probably steer clear of the game. But it was so much more than I expected for a game based on a movie since they decided to add the strategic element rather than a straightforward third-person shooter. The strategic component of it is where the game shines.

John Wick Hex is a very fun game that allows us to put ourselves in the shoes of the popular assassin John Wick and that will delight fans of the saga and turn-based strategy games. Although technically it can be improved, it is very addictive.
