It Takes Two receives its most complete and accessible version to date on Nintendo Switch with new languages and the ability to take the game anywhere. So, although the graphical sacrifice is noticeable, we are still satisfied with what can be considered one of the best cooperative games ever made.

It Takes Two is capable of bringing two people together and transmitting a lot of emotions guided through a beautiful story of love and heartbreak, told with a lot of jokes and simplicity. Hazelight proved that they have been able to face all the technical challenges of the console, leaving us with a wonderful version.

An absolutely indispensable cooperative work that goes beyond the usual boundaries of co-op gaming and ventures into the fundamentals of human relationships, It Takes Two will captivate its players with an array of vast worlds to explore, a creative and varied gameplay, and an experience that's easily accessible even for those with little or no gaming background.

It Takes Two is a great co-op game to add to your Nintendo Switch library. It could even be something fun for you and your special someone to do on rainy days, or even a weekly date night. I would have really loved some side quests, or collectibles, but I still had a great time playing It Takes Two.

A glorious, pure co-op experience, It Takes Two perfects the balance of give and take through its ingenuitive puzzles, stellar storytelling, and enchanting environments. With communication at its core, it truly takes two to tango with this one, and I couldn’t think of a better home for it than the Nintendo Switch.

It Takes Two is brilliant, unique and amazing from start to finish. On Switch it is placed on the same level as the must-have Nintendo games. Because It Takes Two achieves the impossible: transmitting the joy of the elusive magic of the best Nintendo games without giving up its own personality. An absolutely essential title that represents a triumph of risk and creativity.

There’s a reason (err, several) why It Takes Two earned its Game of the Year accolades in 2021, and Switch owners now have the opportunity to play one of the best co-op games of late. The story remains meaningful, the puzzles innovative. The title continues to succeed in navigating interpersonal strife long after its release and the title’s ending being freely available to find online. Even though I knew of some of the events that occurred before reviewing, I was often surprised by its powerful storytelling. It runs incredibly well on the Switch, to boot. Some of the typical Switch-based quirks may be coming with, but it still delivers on a compelling and emotional experience without the compromises that usually accompany a Switch port. With Friend Pass baked into the game, Switch owners are able to play with those in the same room as well as afar. I would personally recommend using a voice comms platform should you play remotely, though.

The best game of 2021 arrives at Nintendo Switch with a wonderful port, which has almost nothing to envy to the other versions. It even adds new elements, like a superfab spanish voiceover (missing on the 2021 release). If you have Switch and you love coop games, you shouldn't miss this one if you don't have played it yet.

It Takes Two for Nintendo Switch is a great port: Hazelight managed to capture the feeling and port it to Nintendo's handheld, even with some resolution and framerate compromises.

It Takes Two takes a hit to run on Switch, but it still works and looks well, becoming a solid choice if you don’t own another platform or want the portability.

To those who've been unable to play the BAFTA award-winning game on other platforms, or want to play locally without a split screen, It Takes Two on Switch is well worth its $39.99 price-tag.

It Takes Two is a fantastic co-op game, and feels right at home on Switch. Sadly the visuals take a big hit, but in return you get a few more options on how to play. It still remains difficult to get a co-op partner for the full game let alone enough controllers, however if you can manage you’re in for a great time.

Is Switch the best place to play It Takes Two? Probably not: it’s a beautiful game which truly deserves the power of a high-end PC or next-gen console to really shine. But that doesn’t mean that this isn’t a worthy port. If Switch is your only gaming format, or even if you simply want to enjoy it again, this time handheld, you’re going to be in for a treat.

If you were even half-aware of games news at the end of 2021, you will already be a bit interested in this game. It’s brimming with fun, uniquely committed to co-op gaming, plays solidly and distinctively, and usually discards one cool idea in favour of another before there’s time to get bored. Now-standard graphical compromises have been made for Switch, and the typical perk of playing handheld is questionable for an always-split-screen co-op-only game. Nonetheless, it keeps the frames moving well enough not to undermine its Game-of-the-Year sparkle. It Takes Two and the good old Switch may not be a perfect marriage, but it’s probably worth sticking it out, now that we’re five years in.

It Takes Two joins the Switch's growing library of excellent ports and offers players a version of the game that holds up on its own, considering the hardware limitations.

There's no question It Takes Two is a well-crafted game. There's no debate it is somewhat fresh in its execution and should be applauded for following its own unique vision. Heck, no one would argue it's not fun. Its shortcomings, however, do make one wonder if others got a little drunk on the novelty of it all. Instead, while it offers a somewhat refreshing take on the platforming genre this is mostly by virtue of being an exclusively co-op experience. It could have benefited from more refined characters, as well as better online support on Nintendo Switch. Really, where It Takes Two is going to be best suited is on a couch with a partner playing together.

It Takes Two is a very fun game that should honestly be about half its length, but the Switch very much does not feel like the place you should go to play it. The major graphical downgrades and added loading screens make it hard to recommend no matter how good the gameplay feels or how clever the writing is. If you’re looking for a fun game to play alongside your significant other or a friend, It Takes Two is among your better options in general, but you’d likely have a far better experience on PlayStation or PC than on Switch.

It Takes Two on Nintendo Switch is a welcome and solid port of a modern co-op classic. The usual caveats around the game graphics apply – if you can play on a higher-powered console, then you should – and you’ll have to figure out your own voice chat solution if playing online, but this is the same great game that Hazelight released last year.

The developers from Hazelight Studios have done a lot right with this title. You will experience an interesting story with two characters and maybe with the big love. At the same time, the control shows its positive side. Unfortunately, the graphical presentation of "It Takes Two" can't always keep up. However, solo players should rather look for a partner to play the title successfully, because you can't play it alone. Those who would like to play with a friend are welcome to get "It Takes Two" on the Switch. Full Review »

Full Review »

If you try to play online with someone, you may find errors that can not be solved. It really makes you get mad.
