Hypercharge: Unboxed is a fun and unique addition to the small library of shooters already on the Nintendo Switch. Digital Cybercherries’ debut title on the platform offers fun and addictive wave-based shooter gameplay for all ages. With the game’s cute art style and smooth performance, it is hard to go wrong with picking up a content-filled game like this.

Even though there are plenty of online multiplayer games out there, Hypercharge Unboxed is a solid enough offering to be worth playing. The fact that you play as toys is something that the whole family can enjoy, too.

It’s fun to look at and more fun to play — especially with gyro controls. If you’ve been seeking a new FPS adventure on Switch, give Hypercharge Unboxed a shot.

There is a lot to like about HYPERCHARGE Unboxed and it combines many elements to offer the variety of a rich kid’s toy box. Its dependence on online multiplayer could be its downfall, but here’s to hoping the community get behind it.

Hypercharge: Unboxed is an engaging and challenging FPS mixed with Tower Defense, with richly-detailed stages, an awesome soundtrack, perfect sound effects and a gameplay that's easy to learn and complex to master. The game lacks in some aspects but the overall experience is extremely satisfactory and fun, and with the scheduled updates, the game tends to become even better.

HYPERCHARGE: Unboxed is a fun first-person shooter to enjoy in company, where its artistic style attracts at first sight. However, its content and the lack of incentives for a single player means that its good ideas don't keep us playing for many hours.

Hypercharge Unboxed is by no means whatsoever a bad game. Actually, it is one I look forward to revisiting as time goes on. It is extremely promising, but it isn’t quite there yet. If you have a group of friends you can reliably play with and you’re willing to trudge through the rough spots, there is certainly plenty of content to enjoy here. It also happens to somehow be one of the most visually impressive games I’ve played on Switch.

If you consider the fairly sparse selection of FPS titles on the Switch, Hypercharge: Unboxed is a genuinely tempting prospect, boasting solid gameplay that is an absolute blast with friends. There are a few issues with the gameplay that may need addressing with patches, and as a whole the game feels like a bit of a walk in the park for the most part, but otherwise it’s an impressive, unique title that you’d do well to check out.

If you have three friends who love tower defense, or you're desperate for an FPS to play on the go, then you could do worse than Hypercharge: Unboxed. It's just not the shiniest toy in the toybox.

The developers have since made so many updates it is about the most complete fps on the switch.

There are options for bots, fps or third person view and many more maps and modes than at launch.

Ignore any low reviews given before mid 2021 as the updates have made this a completely different game.

The only thing preventing me from giving it a perfect score is that the movement could be just slightly faster.

I think companies should be forced to provide demos before purchase as it allows the user to see if its worth buying the game. I find it really repetitive and unless I got bored too quick I've only been able to play on the same map three times. Full Review »
