May 14, 2026Hunt the Night wants to stand beside the gothic greats it so clearly worships, and visually it often succeeds. That said, its haunting pixel art and oppressive atmosphere can’t hide its many rough edges, as beneath the beautiful darkness lies combat that’s stiff and exhausting instead of satisfying, exploration that rarely excites, and technical issues that constantly chip away at immersion. The creation of Moonlight Games is not without merit, but for every moment that captures the spirit of its inspirations, two more remind the player of why these became classics in the first place.

Mar 25, 2026Hunt the Night is a dark fantasy action-RPG where you play as Vesper, a skilled Stalker fighting to reclaim a world overrun by monsters. You explore interconnected environments, solve light puzzles, and battle both standard enemies and challenging bosses using a mix of melee and ranged attacks. The game combines fast-paced combat with atmospheric pixel art and a haunting soundtrack to create a tense, immersive experience.

Apr 12, 2023Hunt the Night moves smoothly just like her protagonist, Vesper, without forgetting to indulge in its aesthetic and musical delicacies, revealing to be capable to build a well-structured, stimulating dark fantasy ambiance, effective both in the exploration and in its combat system. The soundtrack is excellent, and some tracks have left a deep mark in our mind. Some undeniable technical issues notwithstanding, we can’t help but applaud Moonlight Games for its capacity to build a retro action adventure that looks at the past its aesthetics, but gives a deep insight at more modern experiences.

Apr 1, 2026While its degree of challenge can be high, and its stage layouts aren’t always easy to follow, it still manages to at least be interesting.

May 13, 2026I find the emphasis on story unnecessary. Hitboxes are awkward, and input lag is severe when playing on Switch. This should work better and load faster. And once we get past that, we're treated to Zelda-inspired environmental puzzles, a dark atmosphere, and bosses — often gruesome and monumental.
