Sep 2, 2018This game reminds me of old-school Gauntlet, in the sense that it is a dungeon crawling, mob destroying, loot collecting, secret finding video game. The game is repetitive yes, there is no doubt about that, but that should already be obvious before you even pick up the game. For me it was fun and worth the price, not to mention the game has two campaigns.

Jun 27, 2018Very entertaining and fun game. Waiting for online mode. That I like most about this game is that it can be improved skills it's possible as the game progresses become more and more difficult, thus being a challenge for the most skillful and audacious players.

Sep 22, 2021Simple hack n slash dungeon crawler. DO NOT PLAY AS THE RANGER, it's so boring. This game is saved by the online multiplayer (ignore the note on the page, it does indeed have online multiplayer capability on the Switch). Playing through it with a friend is so much more fun.

Feb 9, 2018If you're into repetitive killing of repetitive mobs - this game is for you. It's about killing tons and tons of mobs, and you have like 3 or 5 lives after loosing which you have to start the whole game from beginning. Just save your money and spend them on something else

Dec 6, 2018If you like zelda and gauntlet on NES, you'll love this game. The dungeons are crafted with care (not generated), the mechanics are tight and fun, and it's honestly just a great party dungeon crawler. The classes allow for many play styles and the pixel art is top notch! Only thing keeping it from a 10/10 for me is the soundtrack, which is decent but not fantastic.

Aug 13, 2018I would argue that Hammerwatch is best experienced with a group of like-minded adventurers. There’s far more fun to be found in the chaotic mayhem of heroically charging down a corridor together, slinging spells at your enemies, cutting them down to size and knocking back an arrow or two, compared to when having to endure the game’s repetitive design alone. There are enough successes to consider a purchase, and even more so once online support arrives.

Mar 4, 2018Hammerwatch is set to strike a chord with fans of retro-style adventure games that feature plenty of action and a solid multiplayer experience. While its solo mode may not be the zenith of the experience, the local multiplayer mode has plenty to entertain its players and the game's overall fluidity and competent visuals add up to an experience that will find its place with many players.

Jan 11, 2018With online still to come, there's a bit more that Hammerwatch has to offer in the future. But I just couldn't take enough charm or personality from the game to make it stand out, especially when that eShop to-play list just keeps on growing...
