As someone who achieved 100% completion in Guacamelee: Super Turbo Championship Edition, this game was sort of a let down for me. The story was really uninspired and anticlimactic, with the final boss posing no challenge whatsoever. I still enjoyed the signature corny jokes and references, but this time around, they felt stale, and the game as a whole just didn't resonate with me the same way. Overall, its still a fun game if you enjoyed the first Guacamelee, just don't expect a entirely fresh experience. Expand

Guacamelee! 2 feels just as good as its predecessor overall. Some of the hardest sections can be even more frustrating than the hardest challenges found in the original, but this is somewhat counterbalanced by the fact that it does streamline a lot of things that were more complicated than they really needed to be.

Guacamelee! 2 is a brilliant continuation of Juan's story. It's largely more of the same, but when the gameplay and visual design is this good, there's little need to change it. Yet another fine example of the Metroidvania genre.
