do NOT believe all these "10" user reviews. they are clearly shills, as user He_Never_Helps points out. the truth is this game is a full-blown disaster on the Nintendo Switch. the main reason is that the controls are so clunky, slow, and unintuitive, 80% of the gameplay experience is frustration at not being able to do what you want to, or having everything take way longer than it shoulddo NOT believe all these "10" user reviews. they are clearly shills, as user He_Never_Helps points out. the truth is this game is a full-blown disaster on the Nintendo Switch. the main reason is that the controls are so clunky, slow, and unintuitive, 80% of the gameplay experience is frustration at not being able to do what you want to, or having everything take way longer than it should as your stats quickly slide you towards yet another disheartening death. i would imagine if you were *really* intent on mastering the controls, that this might improve over time, but in practicality, it absolutely ruins the experience. add to that the fact that even on the default "Welcome To The Jungle" settings, the game is ridiculously, and i mean "WTF were they even thinking?", difficult. from what i've learned since buying it (i watched a lot of tips videos hoping it might help; it didn't) the game is notoriously difficult even played on a PC with a mouse by hardcore survival gamers. and speaking of mouse control, it's become painfully clear to me that this is the ONLY way this game would even be close to playable. after a few frustrating hours, i switched to "A Walk In The Park" mode and honestly still was struggling the whole time. i'm a pretty determined (read: stubborn) gamer, and i can't recall the last time (if ever) i've given up on a game due to maddening difficulty and a terrible UI, but trying to play this game with these awful controls was just too much for me. pretty bummed, because i'd heard a lot of good things about it, and was up for a challenge, but this isn't challenging, it's just depressing and impossible. big thumbs down to Creepy Jar for cashing in on these console ports of a game that straight up *requires* a keyboard and mouse to be playable. add to that all these clearly bogus user reviews, and i smell a turd. if you are a casual gamer, you've gotta believe me on this....this game is not fun. if you are a hardcore survival game enthusiast, do your self a favor and buy it on PC, or skip it all together. i would honestly ask for a refund if i knew it wasn't a waste of time. "disappointed" is an understament. :( Expand

It’s pretty easy to get lost and the controls suck. Don’t believe the hype.

I don’t hate Green Hell, but I do lament what it could have been. I went into the game with an open mind and a willingness to try things out. Sadly, the lack of coherent direction and awkward controls made the game overly difficult. While I’m not adverse to challenge, it is a nitpick of mine to get lost due to sloppy design. I honestly hope Creepy Jar takes my notes constructively and uses them to make their next game a masterpiece. Sadly, this particular entry is quite hard to recommend.

Green Hell is a brutally tough, deep and satisfying open-world survival sim. It suffers from the same inherent repetition and often infuriating difficulty as most other examples of its genre, but these are problems offset here by satisfying crafting and construction systems, clever smartwatch and body inspection elements and a story mode that easily trumps the vast majority of offerings we've come across in a survival sim. If you can make peace with the Switch's graphical downgrade, missing multiplayer aspect and some minor control issues, what's here is sure to satiate any cravings you may have for some seriously tough survival sim shenanigans.
