To enjoy this game, you have to be a lover of the game style like Stardew Valley or even Harvest Moon. It mixes crafting, farming and RPG with very intelligent humor. There are many easter eggs like the names of the DLC or the vampire hunter (aka Geralt de Rivia). The history is long and you have to be ready for repetitive tasks - like the other games of the same gender.

Would have been an 8. 1) Great game but on switch 30 of my 40 hours spent playing was load times. I just haven't got time to wait for the loads. They are shocking. Loading times on tapes and floppy discs were quicker. Skyrim loads quicker...thats shameful.

    2) 30 fps at best...what engine are you running this 2d game on? Unreal slow 5 ? Would fair better on a commodore amiga, its the same

Game is great. On PC its strong 9 or 10. But here on Switch its a disaster... lot of bugs, issues. I needed to restart a game and load last save many times.

Spent 60 hours playing the game, and it was a pretty absorbing experience.
I will start with minuses: 1. Crashes. Don't try to play without sleep on the latest stages (when will be lots of stuff). This will cause a crash. If you go to bed when the pillow appears - everything will be fine. If not, you can catch a crash.
    2. Sometimes, it is not clear what should be done next to progress

    Pluses:
    1. Lots of options.
    2. Interesting story
    3. Good ending. I didn't expect that it will end this way.
    4. Great mix of rogue-like, Minecraft and resource management.

PS: Thumb up for developers. I was satisfied that it was made by Russians.

it's a fun game that really try its best. the humor can be sometimes to dry with all the referents they put in to other games and series. the only thing that it does not get a 9/10 for me is that the Switch port is really unstable, it sometimes freezes for a second or 2, but the nail in the coven is that it can crash when you go in to the dungeon, that it plays a cut scene or even when itit's a fun game that really try its best. the humor can be sometimes to dry with all the referents they put in to other games and series. the only thing that it does not get a 9/10 for me is that the Switch port is really unstable, it sometimes freezes for a second or 2, but the nail in the coven is that it can crash when you go in to the dungeon, that it plays a cut scene or even when it saves. this is not fun if you have done a lot and the only way to save is to go to sleep. play this not on the switch.

I have over 50 hours on PC and have completed the main storyline on there. I have not played Stardew Valley, nor did I know of the similarities of both games before playing, so I won't touch on that issue.

First, I'll talk about the pros. It's great that I can play this game in handheld mode, that's the beauty of a switch I guess. The artwork and music in this game is pretty neat. The storyline is kinda cliche but I enjoyed playing it nonetheless. Controls are simple and pretty easy to pick up on.

As for the cons, there are so many to talk about. First of all, the bugs, oh the bugs. There are countless bugs I've stumbled upon, from objects in game disappearing (including NPCs) to the game constantly lagging, and I'm only maybe 30 hours into the playthrough so I haven't seen everything yet. The bugs are not game-breaking in my opinion, but boy is it annoying. NPCs will disappear randomly, although if you know where they usually stand, you can still talk to them. The icons in the game do the same periodically as well, I've figured out a fix, which is to pause and resume the game every time I see something missing. That solves the issue momentarily, but it's not a permanent fix. My game lags periodically as well, I'm not sure what causes it, but it just lags every 10 minutes or so. Furthermore, I have not experienced this in the PC version, but it is sometimes challenging to perform tasks in the switch version. I find that there are sweet spots to stand in to perform tasks or the task will not be completed at all and your character will basically do nothing with smoke coming out of his ass (like he's running), even if you hold down the work button. It's extremely annoying knowing that an in-game day is around 7 minutes and I waste a lot of time trying to find that sweet spot. It does not happen often, only in crowded areas, but I do not remember this happening on PC at all because I built everything almost the same on switch. Last thing I want to talk about is the screen resolution. I've encountered some instances where the dialogue will exceed my screen and I can't read the top of the box where it was cut off. This happens in handheld mode and I think the only way to read the full box is to dock the switch. Even the skull at the title screen is cut off most times I log into the game. I obviously don't know a single thing about game development but how does that happen?

Since I've completed the base game before, I don't have much trouble with crafting or the mechanics in game, but I see the issue here. I had to google a lot of stuff, I even wrote down a cheat sheet for autopsy to get the perfect 12 skull zombie. Beginners would probably struggle with a lot and have to google a lot of things, but I enjoyed looking up and figuring things out, albeit it being annoying at times.

Now, if this was a review for the PC version, I would probably give it around a 7/10, but the switch version is so poorly optimised and riddled with bugs, I had to give it a lower than average rating. If you want to try out this game, please get it on PC. I would definitely recommend this game to people like me who enjoy games that you can play at your own pace and doesn't really requires skills.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Game breaking bug attached to Stranger Sins. Was reported as far as I can tell about 9 months ago. Literally cannot progress on that file.

Start a new file to hopefully beat the game finally, and run into an issue where I have a work station vanishing when I go into the dungeon. This didn't even happen on my first file! And I'm not 100% sure it will stop if I don't go into the dungeon tbh. So I've been wasting resources just to be able to make paper. Something that is very useful in this game!

So basically I ended up paying extra money to lock myself out of actually beating the game apparently. I love the game, it's super fun, but it's near unplayable! The only reason I'm not rating a 0 is because when it's not breaking it really is an enjoyable game.

To add insult to injury, I can't find them confirming they're going to fix any of the console versions (which are behind PC but thems the breaks) and they're getting ready to sell another DLC!

    Graphics is stunning.

Graveyard keeper takes a fresh approach to the farm sim type of game, farming is basically the lesser of what to do.

But you will have to have your phone nearby to go through the Wiki , there is little to no explanation of how things are done. Constantly searching for answers and how to videos. Then the upgrade tree opens up to be a grind fest.

This game doesn't have a decent Quest log, so if you do get a mission you will have to google as to what the mission entails, what ingredients you need to get and so on.

Furthermore this game lags heavily in docked mode.

Graveyard Keeper would have been a winner if the quest dialog was on par as with other titles, less grinding on crafting systems and a better explanation of how everything works and no lag in docked mode.

But unfortunately it is what it is and Graveyard Keeper is not worth the full asking price on the Switch at all.

this review is about the switch version,
long loading times. sluggish controls. make this game uninteresting to play on the console the content might be good but no way to judge with this bad peripheral delay.

DONT BUY THIS GAME! Its an ok game in itself, but there is good chance your are never going to be able to finish the story/game at all. The devs know about several game breaking bugs, that is already fixed on pc over 6 months ago, but they just abandoned every console release. The game feels like its trying to spoof Stardew Valley with dark humor. The attempt mostly succeeds, but is let down by making the game an obtuse grind through a tech tree with lots of dead ends and useless options.

Quite often, the writing saves it; the dialogue is clever and well put together. It gives it a satirical edge that does a lot to make the slower and more boring parts a bit

At the core, however, its a good idea massively let down by execution. It can be fun in spite of the flaws, but I can understand why that doesn't save it for many people. Also, the ending is one of the most anticlimactic endings I have ever seen. It's not quite "Conglatulations!!" NES era bad,but it gets close.

It has its flaws and its very much grindy, I won't deny, and at times you must seek help from wikis otherwise you'll be lost, but still it has its own charm with an intriguing story and fun moments and I believe it's very much worth a purchase. Graveyard Keeper’s limitations and shortcomings come real close to outweighing the fun that can be had from playing a new game. When I got the game and read the premise, it sounded quirky and fun. As I played, it seemed more awkward and vexing.

Visually, the pixel art is wonderful and full of character and the music fits the downbeat tone at work, but the gameplay is too slow to be gripping while the story isn’t pacey or unique enough to inspire wonder at what’s to come, especially because the conceit of the game’s plot seems pretty obvious from the outset. We did hear a car crash before waking up outside reality, after all…

Graveyard Keeper is well-crafted effort and an original one at that - a cemetery management simulation game is nothing short of unique and Graveyard Keeper does the job with a very attractive visual environment, as well as complex and involving tasks. It doesn't try to appeal to less experienced players, though, as the information available during the game is sometimes lacking, the game experience is long, repetitive and slow-paced and there are some controller flaws to improve.
