    Incredibly bad, amateurish and worthless "remaster". They couldn't even improve past issues/bugs and also created millions of new bugs. Just cause you copy+paste same Palm trees all over the map and copy+paste new grass textures doesn't mean you can ask 60 dollars/euros for it. This so called definitive edition is one of the most pathetic remasters of all time, especially considering how amazing Rockstar used to be. They were the top. They were the best there ever was. AI is worse than ever, no swimming for 3 and Vice City, no climbing ladders for San Andreas, no cover system, nothing new. Where are there quality of life improvements and *much more* that they promised in NewsWire article? And now they ask 60 dollar for this. Whoever worked on this have only slight experience in photoshop, thats it. They have no idea how to program new things. This is most amateurish product, billion dollar company has ever released. I absolutely dont care that Rockstar North didnt work on this. They hired the studio, they green lit it, they were okay to release it in state like this. Its all on them. Everything. Now Rockstar Launcher has been down over a day, i cant even play Red Dead Redemption 2, because it asks me to connect to internet and i cant do that, because launcher is down. This is ridiculous. They have milked GTA Online over 8 years and thats all they are capable of for now. Yes Red Dead 2 was great, but that was 4-5 years ago. Thats a long time. I have zero hope for GTA 6, absolutely none. I bet it fill be with short story and extreme focus on online, i mean who know, maybe whole game will be just online, but im pretty sure they will design GTA 6 map, so it would mostly fit for online. Comparing the switch version along with the original version on the PS2 then it can’t be called a remastered version. I agree with reviews that say the audio on San Andreas is bad it really does sound odd and it’s worse then the original. San Andreas in my opinion seems to be the most buggy of the 3. I have spent some time Playing all 3 of the trilogy and I feel that once the bugs are addressed it will be more then fine to play as long as you get your head around that it really hasn’t been remastered at all. All you are getting is the original games which do unfortunately have to many bugs which is annoying and disappointing from Rockstar. I still feel that once this is addressed to have these 3 classic on a handheld console like the switch isn’t something to moan about. In docked mode against the Xbox series X version, you wouldn’t chose the switch version docked at all there is a clear and noticeable difference in the graphics and game play and I wouldn’t play any of the 3 games in docked mode over the versions on the PS5 and Xbox as obvious as that may be. However taking into account the Nintendo switches capabilities against other consoles then it’s not an awful game as long as Rockstar and Grove street address these bugs and issues quickly then it will be playable and enjoyable in handheld mode. But to round off - Rockstar should never have called these games a remastered version they should have just gone with a re-release and been honest rather then promising so much and then not delivering.

    the game should have been delayed for the bugs to have been addressed and to have released a polished game and the price tag of £50 on the switch is to much £30-£35 would have been more realistic. So wait to see if the bugs are sorted before you buy and manage your expectations against rockstars claims of a remaster it is not that it is more of a re-release of PS2 versions    … Expand

    Broken games that are hardly playable.
    From what I heard they are very good games and if they fix the performance issues I happily come back and give them a second go and adjust my grade.
    But yeah not a good day to be an early addopter.

    I can't believe that this game was even considered for a release on the Switch in this state. The original made so many years ago looks universally better, and this "Definitive" release has NOTHING definitive about it. DO NOT get this.

    Its a shame. Poor optimisation, lot of bugs, and glitches. Due to the age of the game, it would have been appropriate to bring a minimum of 30 continuous fps on each platform. There was no gameplay preview at all. That could have been a warning sign.

The game absolutely horrible, the framerate is absolutely horrid and don't get me started on all the bugs from the MOBILE PORT; it was notoriously abhorred by all the OG GTA players and speed runners alike, because of all the problems it has and the multiple instances that may lead to a softlock or saveBy god and all that is holy, Rockstar what in the world were you thinking!? The game absolutely horrible, the framerate is absolutely horrid and don't get me started on all the bugs from the MOBILE PORT; it was notoriously abhorred by all the OG GTA players and speed runners alike, because of all the problems it has and the multiple instances that may lead to a softlock or save corruption.

    The good things I can literally count on one hand; the gunplay is now much better on the first 2 titles (GTA III & GTA:VC), the lighting and shades are rather nice if not too much sometimes, the car models look nicer with their wheels looking more like wheels, I personally loved the quality of life additions from GTA:V with the weapon wheel and radio wheel... That's all that is good...

    The models are laughably bad, modders made free mods that tool less polygons and looked 30 times better (then Take2 & Rockstar decided to DMCA takedown these mods, because f##k our community, right?), the CHONKY EYEBROWS are just a joke, the glitches are all still there, the bugs were never touched, if anything they introduced EVEN MORE BUGS, the missing fog that gave this game that feeling of extreme size now makes it feel so tiny, the audio issues are insane (character audio balance is broken, audio cutting too early, etc...), milk rain, the A.I upscale textures are practically useless and have made things worse in many situations, models are janky beyond jank; ask Ryder's broken arms bones or any of the Grove gangsters that look like Patrick Star...

    GTA the definitive edition is definitive alright; definitively nailed the last nail in Rockstar's coffin for me and many others, and this is the last time I buy anything from their selection, I already filed for a refund and waiting on it because I was promised one thing but was given the bootleg version of it, Avoid it like the plague!    … Expand

    It sucks hard because cockstar just sell us nostalgia and it didn't even captured the good old gta sa and here's more, the **** character model is creepy as **** it is just pure nightmare the character faces is like glued together and they are just still no emotion at all.

    Literally the WORST version of the trilogy. I would rather pop the discs into my PS2 and witness fuzzy visuals but have ZERO frame lag and ZERO ghost car popups to derail my progression!!!! Also these HIGHLY UNLIKELY "ACHIEVABLE" achievements are terrible. The one mission in GTA 3 (mind you, I have beaten GTA 3 on, PS2, PS4, AND IOS...) requires you to take two Leone Members and take out 3 Triad Warlords. To get the achievement for this mission, you must keep both Leone members alive; easy enough, HOWEVER, you must enter the Triad factory using a Triad commercial truck to get in WHICH ONLY HAS 2 SEATS TOTAL. So after finishing two of the Warlords or whatever, I proceeded to take the truck that would allow me to enter the warehouse, leaving one of the Leone Members out to dry. Long story short, they deemed the member dead even though he never entered the warehouse with myself and the other member. If I cared enough, I'd reply the entire game to achievement hunt on ANY other version, except this one. At this point, I am playing to just finish and never come back. WORST GTA Experience EVER. PLEASE PATCH

    ***Edit: The IOS Version i played was on my IPod Touch back in 2013 and yes that version held up, this one, not at all. To add for those that will read these reviews; I understand this is the Nintendo Switch version, but I literally have put almost 100 hours across 2 different switch consoles into Skyrim and can say a game made for 360 and that is a more expansive single player experience runs excellent and should recommend Skyrim to those that are looking for some nostalgic single player roaming at a great performance and visuals over this heap of poop.    … Expand

Jogabilidade privem, personagem que parecem manequim de sexshop, o áudio dos veículos está semelhante ao jogo Enduro do Atari de 1983, Porque a empresa na segui o exemplo da Capcom com o remastered do resident Evil. Não compre, desrespeito com a história dessa geração 2003.

    I do not forgive Rockstar for what it has done to us. I've been waiting a long time for this remaster and I don't understand how they have been able to deliver these mediocre new versions. GTA III, Vice City, and San Andreas were iconic... they don't care about these games but they are selling them for almost 60 Euros.

    It's hard to believe how they turned three absolute classics into a pile of garbage. Rockstar and Take2 don't give a damn about gamers and their expectations as long as the money keeps flowing into their pockets. The Switch has gotten so many terrific ports of AAA games, but this is an insult. I'm glad I put my money into Fire Emblem Three Houses instead of buying this junk at full price.

That's great for before/after screenshots. And that's all the games are good for. The framerate on the Switch is simply atrocious.     Frame rate drops, low resolution, graphical and lightning bugs here and there. At times awkward controls. The switch can run The Witcher 3 and the Crysis trilogy. There is no excuse the Switch, or any other console cannot run these games perfectly. However, if you use a microscope, there is fun to be found.

    Between massive fps slow downs all the time (driving feels AWFUL cause of that), weird character models and lighting, missing songs and countless bugs (not that I remember it that well, but it almost feels like its way more bugged than    Used to love those games, spent countless hours with all three. I really regret spending that 60$, not even close to being worth the price.
    And honestly - I wish we could just get the original versions, without all the graphical "upgrades", at least - maybe - it would run at a stable 30/60 fps.     It has completely ruined San Andreas... the map looks tiny, like some kind of condensed Fortnight map.
    It's particularly abhorrent when you can see Las Venturas from Los Santos or Mount Chilliad from Santa Maria beach.
    The limited draw distance worked to the games benefit... it made the map seem huge. Now that sense of scale and wonder have been completely ruined. Not even a slight haze like in real life... :(

    They've only announced it in October, and released it in November. Instead they should have waited
    and really made sure, that the games look good and are optimized for performance.

    Not releasing any press copies was a massive red flag. They didn't want to have all these magazines
    and gaming outlets report on how horribly bad the games were.

    The way Grove Street Games and Rockstar Games handled this release is outrageous and
    feels like a quick cash grab.

    The version on the Switch is basically unplayable and looks worse than the original games did.
    Constant stuttering, low resolution, textures loading forever, the list is endless.

    When the games were announced, I was as excited as on Christmas Day, but boy have I been disappointed.

    Please do yourself a favor and don't buy this piece of crap.

    First of all rockstar i proved a lot of mods of all this game with very high cuality definition. 60 dolar for this medium class mod, sooo bad. Why you don't give us gta 5 or gta 4 complete edition, will be better than this gta trilogy mod. NO new features like swimming, climbing ladders to preserve the "original gameplay/feeling" but u change the cardriving physics and cut symbols and conversations from it, so maybe a lazy excuse?
    PATCH IT. Patch it more than Project CD patches Cyberpunk. Patch it from all the millions $ u get from preorders for 60$ YES 60 Bucks, done under false and misleading advertisement by not showing footage prerelease.
    And let's not talk about the fact they took down the Original Trilogy which I enjoyed playing much more than this ****. call my oldschool but I prefer a coherent artstyle and stable frame rate over shiny reflecting carbodies.
    The only Definitive thing Rockstar achieved here is that I DEFINITIVELY won't buy any Rockstar product from now on!
    If u really want to go to Liberty City or Vice City on Handheld, go get a used PSP and LCStories and VCStories, from a time when Publishers weren't too big to fail and actually cared for consumers and had a inner motivation to create something good, new, artful and innovativ.

    This remastering of the three classic games is rather terrible. At first play, they seem perfectly fine, but once you get into game-play is where the flaws start to show. Missing textures, frame-rate issues texture mis-alignments, horrible pop-in, barriers and other objects fail to load in visually, and even the breakable barriers aren't tied to their models, as they break away but visually stay put. When moving Claude around, it's possible to count all of the frames of his animation, since the frame-rate seems to be unlocked from the originals' (you'd think they would put extra time in to add some in-between frames of animation). It seems, based on other people's feedback this is only the tip of the iceberg. I would forgive this if it was limited to the Switch itself, as it's a much different platform than the others; however it seems the issues plague all platforms, regardless of power. The radio stations in the latter games don't even have all the original music, what was in the original releases so long ago. Surely, a company as well known and money-flush as Rockstar could have put a little aside for a new license for those songs?

    From what I've heard from others, the game was data-mined and it appears the songs are still present in the game's files, they are just disabled and skipped whenever they are called to play by the game. Any of the fog that was present in the games before is basically gone, leaving one of the more well-known games, San Andreas, to go from a massive-feeling world to looking like Lego Island 2. At least you can see your house (and more) from Mt. Chiliad, with the increased draw distance, for what it's worth (even though it kills the vibe).

    Now, I want to be fair, at least somewhat. The games themselves are great, there's a good reason why they are held in such high regard. This pack was to be a massive visual upgrade for these old games, breathing fresh life into them. The explosions look great. The light poles have proper physics when breaking, and cars have reflections in all three games. Trees aren't 2 images stitched together anymore, they all are modeled. Grass textures were also added, to add a bit more detail to the knolls throughout the game. Windows in building textures also have reflections. The dynamic lighting is great, too, providing proper shadows for near everything. Character models also got an upgrade (though in several cases that's debatable). An upgrade to the controls as well was done, to provide an easier was to play the games without the clunkiness. Vehicle and weapon models are also upgraded, and they look really good. The audio was to be swapped with uncompressed versions, too, and in Dolby 5.1 Surround (where reasonable). The frame-rate was also to be better than the originals' were.

    Unfortunately, it doesn't live up to everything that was promised. Bordering on false advertising, I feel like I may have been scammed, but surely a high-profile company wouldn't stoop to such a low level, right?

    And to top it all off, this package was made by the same studio which made the first remasters of the classic trilogy, they just re-branded themselves. I don't want to believe that these are just the old remasters with a slightly better polishing job, but I can't help the thought get louder the more I play.

    Grand Theft Auto? It most certainly is. The Trilogy? Absolutely, it is. The Definitive Edition?

    Just don't run for more than 2 minutes. The moment the frame rate needs to increase the game shuts down. Rockstars worse job & I genuinely think unacceptable for the charge! The modders the sued did a better job and it's shown them up massively. Rockstar used to be fantastic but no longer. Refund requested and I hope they can turn the tide for their business..

    I don't care so much about the graphics which are a joke by the way but the advertising indicated gta5 level controls. All I can see is slight button remapping. Gameplay and control is way worse than the originals.

    Playing this game is so frustrating I nearly threw my brand new Switch Oled against the wall.

    I usually wait for reviews before buying games but thought the company behind RDR2 and GTA wouldn't risk their reputation to make some quick money.

You could go through the r/GTA or r/GTATrilogy for 5 minutes and spot 30 bugs players have found, which vary from immersion breaking to game breaking. There are removed songs and animations in each game, the most egregious of the animations being everything muscular CJ does now. And as far as missing songs goes, the company that made this game has amassed an unbelievable amount of wealth, and it’s nothing but laziness and greediness to not work out licensing for the ACTUAL DEFINITIVE SOUNDTRACK. The games’ audio received almost no polish. It seems the only thing actually done to change these games from what they were before is the graphical appearance. When these games were current, they were the best looking PS2 era games around. With the “Definitive” editions just released, they are still nothing more than the best looking PS2 era games. The only changes to make gameplay any smoother are the free camera, and free camera drive by controls. By today’s standards, GTA 3 is next to unplayable. Nothing about it feels good. It was a chore to complete, and it’s a game from my childhood that I have incredibly fond memories of. I even go back and play the original version once every 2 or 3 years, along with VC and SA. These games deserved improvements to make them appeal to the generation that didn’t get the chance to play them when all the hype surrounded them. Instead, we’ve gotten 3 bug ridden messes from a studio that already ruined the 10 year anniversary edition of, arguably, everybody’s favorite game, San Andreas (I prefer VC for the story, and SA for gameplay). If changes aren’t made VERY soon to fix performance issues, and eliminate the dozens of bugs players are coming across, I think the legacy of these games will be tarnished, and the reputation of all companies involved will be questioned of laziness and greed. tl;dr: It’s a rushed mess. It is incredibly apparent they needed at least another 2 months to have the games properly built. And now, instead, we’re going to have to wait and hope that they add patches that we should’ve never had to wait for in the first place.… Expand

The long black loading screens are great at leaving you confused wondering if youve crashed or the game is just taking a break as the switch also cant believeI like that its on Switch, thats its only saving grace right now for me.     It’s really that bad. This is a buggy, laggy, crash-prone port and the pre-launch review embargo suggests that the developers and publishers knew that this was going to be dumpster fire at launch. Sad!

    Do not buy this game in its current state. Bugs (old and new), crashes and overall a poor piece of work from the devs. This is a Christmas cash grab with the old 'we can patch it later' attitude. If the Nintendo eshop had refunds I'd be applying for one. As it is I'll just have to hope that patches and updates are forthcoming to male these games worth my time.

    It is completely unacceptable that they couldn't get ps2 games to run well on the Switch. Also its very clear that they didn't manually create HD textures and instead let an algorithm do it, and the results are atrocious, so much text from the originals has been completely butchered. What a waste of time and money, whoever at Rockstar cleared this for launch should be ashamed.

    GTA The Trilogy: The Definitive Edition is a collection of 3 great titles that left their mark in history. However, the so-called Definitive Edition came out without the deserved treatment.

    These are all great games, some of the most influential AAA sandbox games of all time. I cannot in good conscience recommend you play this version, especially if you wanted to check out the Nintendo Switch version. It’s quite ironic that unnecessary and ugly visual overhauls make these ports of PS2 games almost unplayable on this system. I hate to be cynical, but I don’t think you could salvage these things without redesigning everything from the ground up. Grand Theft Auto deserved better, and you deserve better than to waste your money on this.

    In its current state, the Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition is only worth getting if you can get it at a large discount and assuming you’re willing to put up with many technical issues on Switch. While a lot of the major bugs I ran into have been addressed in patches, this is still nowhere near as good as it should be given how important these three games are to gaming in general. It also doesn’t help that the Switch patches are delayed compared to other platforms.
