Dec 4, 2023When we remember that Gothic was one of the earliest truly open-world 3D concept games, we can at least give a nod of appreciation for the pioneering effort. With the time that has passed, Gothic Classic is mostly a reminder of how far we have come with game design and system capabilities.

Nov 3, 2023Gothic Classic Switch is a cleaned and revised edition of Piranha Bytes' classic masterpiece. The innovations around camera and inventory management are just a plus in front of a title that, despite being twenty years old, still works like it used to.

Nov 2, 2023Gothic Classic has an avid fanbase, and for good reason. The game is intricately detailed, with deep lore, and meaningful world-building. But sadly the awful controls are too much to cope with, and they do ruin the game to some extent. Perhaps it works better on a keyboard and mouse – but this is a game on the Nintendo Switch, and on this format it doesn’t quite work.
