Yes, having to replay the same section time and again until you get your jump, timing and execution just right can be infuriating, but when you do nail a section, it comes with a great sense of achievement. No matter how difficult its challenges become, Glyph is a game that begs you to keep going. And thanks to its charming design and beautiful environments, it’s likely that you will.

Glyph will no doubt end up leaving many cold – despite the game’s setting. Those who do warm to its charms will find it to be a diamond in the rough though.

Because there’s such a disconnect between what it wants to be and what it actually is, it’s hard to know whether to recommend Glyph. It doesn’t come anywhere close to achieving what it sets out to do, but it still offers enough that if you can overlook its failures, there’s a decent enough game hiding underneath.

If there was a version of this game that let players skip the Time Trials or required only minimal engagement with them, I would have no problem recommending this mechanical bug’s shenanigans to anyone looking for the kind of physics-based environmental exploration that we just don’t see a lot of these days. I honestly enjoyed my time with Glyph and found it to be a welcome surprise… I just wish that I didn’t have to include so many caveats when recommending it.

I wanted to enjoy Glyph more than I did. The framework is there: fluid gameplay, beautiful art style, and with over one hundred levels, the game will keep a determined gamer entertained for many hours. But the developers set an unreasonably high bar for progression; one that required me to put the game down multiple times out of exasperation. Newer gamers: beware, but for seasoned players looking for a real challenge, Glyph could be your next rage-inducing favorite.

This review contains spoilers, click full review link to view. I really liked this at first, It seemed like a refreshing 3D platformer and I was surprised at how much I liked it for only two dollars. The demo was surprisingly long and it reeled me in. I am however disappointed more and more as I progress. The level difficulty ratings do not seem accurate at all. It just seems like the levels get easier and less creative as you go. Besides the time trials there really isn't much of a challenge after the first few level areas. The avatar capsules get easier to find, especially when Anobi stands literally right next to the switch and tells you "It's right there" He should be helping less and less as difficulty increases not blatantly telling you exactly where to go. A lot of the "harder" levels have less keys to collect. I get the sense the developers just got tired of being creative with the placement of collectibles. It was more fun when you actually had to search for them and they were placed far away forcing you to come up with ways to bounce higher and go farther. It's just gotten really stale and I don't enjoy it anymore. Maybe the difficulty will pick up towards the end but for now I just don't feel like playing it anymore. Full Review »

A real peaceful platforming experience. 60fps all the time. I love this game.

It's hard to explain how empowering this game feels to play. it controls perfectly and flying around the world is so much fun. The levelIt's hard to explain how empowering this game feels to play. it controls perfectly and flying around the world is so much fun. The level design is great and the overworld feels awesome to move around in and unlock new stuff. You can play like a speed runner or a completionist, whatever suits you. Going super fast and trying to beat the level way faster than usual is a blast. One of the best values I've gotten at 20$. Full Review »
