The game isn't horrible but it isn't exactly good either. The controls are very arcade which is fine but for some reason despite the arcade roots you can't really drift. If you hit the ebrake you not only slow down way too fast but you also easily lose control because the car behaves in an odd way physics wise.

You can also ignore the driving line in most cases. Just because it says

You can also ignore the driving line in most cases. Just because it says you need to brake doesn't mean you do which can be confusing so I suggest getting the control down as best as possible and then shut the driving line off.

The graphics and audio are decent with the graphics being better than the audio. The cars have enough detail as do the tracks but things like smoke and particles effects are basically missing. There are also menu errors, for example if you set options to show MPH instead of kph it will display properly in a race but in the menus it will only show kph.

Load times are a bit long consider each race generally lasts 1-2 min which is far too short. There are tons of events, over 400 in fact but they reuse assets constantly and again the race itself may be over in literally 1 min. The longest race I've had so far was 3min 12 seconds.

If you absolutely NEED a new racing game and the switch is your only place to game then go ahead and buy it despite it being over priced there aren't many options for racing games right now. However if you have any other platform, even mobile you should think twice. This is a port of a mobile title and it shows but what really hurts is the $50 price tag.

So I'm giving the game a 5 which to me means it's average. I'm not IGN where 7 is average lol. 5/10 is a fair score for this title. There is fun to be had but don't buy it expecting it to compete with any other console or pc racing game on the market.

    If the game was $15-20 I'd give it a 7/10 but for $50 it's kinda lucky I didn't give it a 4.

    Buyer beware.

Gear.Club Unlimited is a competent but unremarkable racing game. It's the closest thing Nintendo Switch owners have to the "realistic" racing sims found on other platforms (for now), and it features a decent collection of real, licensed vehicles. Where it falls short is where it really counts: performance. Hardcore racing fans will have to look elsewhere; casual players will probably be satisfied with GCU until something better comes along. Expand

The garage sucks and just is like dragging a ball till they ache. Mostly due to agonising load screens, 3 before you get into the game from loading.
Better for being played in pro handling, using motion control and manual gears as this helps through corners without analogue acceleration. It's a fair attempt at a car racing game, but it's way better on my p30 pro, also free. Which you can

Which you can tell this is where it's roots lie a ay yo advance model, short races and awfully long winded rpg garage. Which is not ergonomic on switch docked. Certainly better than laggy un playable gear club 2 switch, which has terrible input lag which unfortunately breaks the game. This however is playable with motion control like on my phone only more expensive

Long loading times, huge and inconvenient input lag (unless you're using motion controls) and an average experience overall. But still. I played it. So it's not the most terrible. Just not good. I'd suggest you get the sequel, which is far better now.

Racing is simple and fun once you get used to the controls. Menus kinda lag and you have to press buttons more times but during the races, there are minimum problems. There's a lot of upgrades you can get for your cars if you are into that sort of thing. You can choose color, some basic cosmetic upgrades and tune your car. You can also plan out your performance shop/garage and placeRacing is simple and fun once you get used to the controls. There's also local multiplayer up to 4 players and online time attack events.

TL;DR: Okay racing game if you can get it for 5 USD or less. (I got it on sale).

The Gear.Club is as an excellent mobile racing game, as a the Gear.Club Unlimited is a bad console port. The pros that work great in the free-to-play mobile model are not enough for the console audience. The game suffers from repulsive visuals, a poor car selection, bugs, but above all an unsatisfactory driving model. If you don´t need to play some racing game right now, just wait for another one. Otherwise, Gear.Club Unlimited will not offer you much, only little entertainment, if you are indulgent.

Gear Club Unlimited tries to be the race game the Nintendo Switch needs and deserves, but fails. The racing aspect is good for on the go gaming, but the brakes don't really work and if you've seen three or four environments, you've seen them all.

Gear Clubs free-to-play past is not what it used to be. The cars are easy to control and there is a lot to do, but in the end this racegame feels cheap.
