Gato Roboto is a bitesized metroidvania, great for a few hours of gameplay. Its graphical style is charming, quirky, and — especially in terms of the animation — well executed. The play is quite linear, although there are lots of diversions to keep you busy. I found the bosses (except for the final two, strangely) by far the hardest part of this game, but I enjoyed the combat and inventive attacks. This is a great game if you like the genre and/or retro-styled gaming, and is well worth the price level. Expand

This game was okay and has a cool premise but it just feels like another metroidvaina without its own flare. I collected almost everything and almost every item is easy to find if you actually look but there are few cases where it is completely counter intuitive. If you're new to metroidvanias such as myself, this game is a delight! Many different mechanics can keep the game sweet. It's short as it seems but the little worlds you see are fun! Palettes are fun just like from another devolver game downwell.

Cute little game for what it's worth.
It feels like a cheap Metroidvania, but I enjoyed my time with it. The filters were interesting to unlock, especially considering the game is only black and white otherwise.
Maybe one day I'll boot it up again, but nothing to write home about.

If you go into Gato Roboto expecting the transportive, sprawling, otherworldly joys of Samus Aran's best, you may be disappointed. But if you want a fierce, high-contrast, bite-sized treat, you're in the right place! [Issue #41 – September 2019, p. 21]

Gata Roboto is not a Metroidvania from another world: it does not really do anything wrong, but it does not really do many new things either. The big star in this game is the cat, that apparently is a very capable and cuddly replacement for Samus.

Gato Roboto has some wonderful aesthetic choices and innovative boss fights, but the awfully short length and generic enemy design hamper an otherwise quirky title.
