    Gato Roboto could have just been a Metroid clone — from the screenshots it certainly looks like one. But there is so much clever work in the game’s design hidden behind its very simple black-and-white aesthetic.

    Not a completely novel idea, but the game very much works for me. The sound is great. Mechanics are pretty enjoyable, especially running around as the cat. Difficult enough thus far for it to be enjoyable yet not too frustrating. The art direction is pretty good; I enjoy unlocking new themes. Some of the button choices do feel a bit weird, I wish you could change your settings. For the price, I am having a good time.
