Oct 30, 2021Fantastic love letter to the original sonic games, but with its own thing going on. Music is great and the story is fun, and can actually be skipped if its not your thing. I bought this on a whim without any knowledge of the game as the physical is a limited run game, but I'm glad I did as its a hidden gem.

Dec 25, 2019I won't lie and say I'm not very far into this game, only on the 8th level of one campaign, but I don't have the force to continue, as I don't think this game is not very good. It's not bad by any mean, it's just that I don't see what everyone else saw in it. Maybe I'll update this review once I finished the game, who knows.

Mar 7, 2019This Switch version of Freedom Planet doesn’t do much to differentiate itself from what came before on Wii U, but then, it doesn’t have to. Many players didn’t get the chance to try this game out the first time around, so I encourage them now to give Freedom Planet a look. It’s a heartfelt love letter to the platformers of old, marrying some of the best bits of Sonic with so many other notable series. Freedom Planet is full of retro charm but isn’t held back by it, instead pushing forward with new ideas to stand on its own two legs. The eShop is full of winning software, but don’t let this one slip by under your nose!

Dec 12, 2018Four years after its initial Steam release, Freedom Planet still stands as a good modern interpretation of the classic platforming formula. The multiple characters play differently enough that it's worthwhile to replay the game to see the different pathways and use different strategies to beat bosses. The two main modes do a good job of pleasing players who value narrative and those who prefer action, and the nice presentation solidifies Freedom Planet as a good choice for platforming fans.

Sep 27, 2018This is clearly a game that takes its inspiration seriously, and is a lovingly-crafted tribute to a genre of games that a lot of people, are really fond of. No new additions compared to previous releases, but if you haven’t already played this then don’t hesitate to pick it up on the eStore.
