I played it because it was free. Now I am an addict. Take Call of Duty meets Minecraft meets Minecraft meets Lego meets Second life and you have an amazing game the family can play. Did you read the part where I said it was free? No gimmicks. Pure 100% free.

Ignore the zero score haters who post these low scores just for clickbait attention. The game looks better than the iphone

Been playing this quite a lot lately at home but also played it several times on my Switch @ a local coffee shop. This is the most versatile version ever of Fortnite. Even with a phone, there's no joycons, meaning that in portable or tabletop mode you can finally play this game decently and with some excellent graphics.10/10

Fortnite is already a great game on PC, and when they announced the switch port, I was OVERJOYED to play it (but I didn't have a switch until now). And from what I can tell, it's GREAT. I'm not that guy that really cares about graphics and frame-rate that much, but at 720p and 30 fps, its basically the bare minimum I can take (I would prefer 60 fps but still its THE BEST WAY TO PLAYFortnite is already a great game on PC, and when they announced the switch port, I was OVERJOYED to play it (but I didn't have a switch until now). I'm not that guy that really cares about graphics and frame-rate that much, but at 720p and 30 fps, its basically the bare minimum I can take (I would prefer 60 fps but still its THE BEST WAY TO PLAY FORTNITE ON THE MOVE). Everything from the PC game (all controls, full HUD). are on the Switch, However there is one thing that isn't on the Switch and I really don't know why is the Weapon Specifications. See, on the PC version of the game you would get the DPS, Damage per 1 bullet, Bullets fired per seconds, Number of bullets available to hold in the weapon, and reload time. On the Switch port it only shows the DPS of the weapon, which is kind of a drag because those other stats can really help me know the weapon stats better instead of looking it up online or if its a new weapon I read the patch notes. However I will still rate this a 10/10 because look at the user score! It's a 6.7! It should be at least an 8.0! (but still this version of Fortnite does have the highest user score and is the only version in the mixed of average range). So i'm doing this to help raise the user score. The 6.7 is mostly from unaware idiots and in most of their reviews say how some controls are missing (which is entirely FAKE NEWS), how the graphics are bad (ITS THE FREAKING SWITCH ITS NOT PERFECT BE GRATEFUL ITS HD) and how playing on the joycons is horrible (really, it's not that bad and you can get used to it pretty quickly, I prefer Combat Pro, its best for shooting and good for building).

P.S. I kind of wish this game will never die because it holds a special place in my heart.

I'd also really like to figure out how to use voice chat with those in your party. But the premise and execution of the game are really outstanding. It's player vs player, in teams or individually, 100 per one huge and diverse map, last man (or team) standing. I read some people complain about the storm but hone sting I think the storm is one of the best features of the game. Without a storm every game would end in a draw with people camping until the competitors quit. The storm forces players to eventually converge on an area which keeps the action progressing. I think Epic came up with a great business model for this game, increasing accessibility by making it free to play and (mostly) cross platform to get the widest user base, which also finding a way to monetize the game at a level each player is comfortable with. When I first started playing I had no intention of paying extra for cosmetic upgrades, and was able to unlock a few items here and there, but the cosmetic content (different characters, dances, etc.) are generally of such high quality they really do feel like they add value to the game, and I was able to justify paying $10 for the season battle pass (which allows you to unlock way more content). This game is clearly the best game on the market for $0. At $10 (for the season's battle pass) it's still the best game for $10 or less. If I'm still having as much fun with the game by the time the next season comes out I'm sure I'll pay another $10 for the next season pass as well. As noted at the beginning, the only other fault I can find with the game is the steep price of other cosmetic upgrades that can be bought a la carte. Any amount spent over the battle pass will have diminishing returns in my opinion, meaning for $10 and some effort to level up you can unlock over 100 cosmetic upgrades per season, with at least 10-20% of those being really cool and the rest kinda meh, compared to buying a character or dance move a la carte may cost anywhere from $5-20 for a single item! That's just a bit much for me, but I do see some players with some of those expensive upgrades so I guess there are some people willing to pay their asking price. Overall awesome game though for any budget very fun, and glad to see it on the Switch, the best console I've ever owned (and I've been playing games since the original Mario Bro's/ Duck Hunt for NES). What some people need to know before buying the game and leaving a bad review Fortnite is a "battle royale" game meaning it has over 100 people battle with many weapons, you can customize your character with skins or dances and even emoji's i personally enjoy the game and love the style, and NO fortnite is not violent or bloody, now my review of this game so far (i started playing back in §4 and it's hard for your first moment, now the bad thing about the game is the toxicity, many gamer are very dumb and don't understand this is a game for TEENS and somehow some adults just constantly swear or even be toxic towards children, the game it's self is fun, but i would love if less annoying people were in the game, i recommend you muting them or reporting them epic is very nice by giving us those features.. but don't get me started with the hackers though, some people hack in the game and use aimbot a computer generated targeting assistance that helps get more accuracy, and it's very rare case but epic games a big deal out of it, but there are still some hackers out there, also the battle pass, this minor feature is a big part of the game, you can level up and earn free prizes by playing, but you need to buy a better battle pass if you want skins and extra stuff like wraps, vbucks (a virtual currency you can use to buy tiers, battle pass, skins and pickaxes, building is very useful in the game as well, and that's what i hate, the building makes it unique in a way..but i see it gives more difficulty in the game and it seems a little weird, also it's kinda hard to get mats when there is 2 people trying to snipe or shoot you apart from that the game is pretty good and i'm excited for season 8 Expand

My only complaints are the lack of a free play mode to help you get used to using the building mechanic easier, and the lack of a tutorial to help ease you into the game,as opposed to immediately pushing you off a cliff (or in this case, a bus). Fortnite's polished gameplay and visual charm stands out from the hordes of other zombie games that have arrived in the past few years. To make matters worse, it feels too focused now it's held back by an invasive microtransaction model and design imperfections that keep it from being another trophy for Epic Games. Fortnite: Battle Royale is a great play for anyone.

Fortnite is developed by Epic games and was originally designed to be a 3rd person co-op survival game, That part of the game is still around but when the Battle Royale genre exploded with the arrival of PUBG Epic games saw an opportunity and remoulded their game, enter Fortnite: Battle Royale. Although Fortnite shares some obvious similarities with PUBG it has a lot of obvious differences. For starters where PUBG goes for the realistic mil-sim approach Fortnite goes for bright and colourful graphics. Instead of a military plane, in Fortnite we jump from a party bus. the premise is still the same though,up to 100 players are dropped into a map which is constantly shrinking due to the Blue Zone/Storm, with the goal of looting weapons and gear in order to become the last person or team left standing. At first glance you might be forgiven for thinking that Fortnite is a kids game and that would be a huge mistake. Whilst the game is massively popular with kids there's a lot more going on than just jumping around the map trying to shoot each other. Take the building mechanics for example. Building in Fortnite can be just as crucial a skill as shooting. Out building your foe can be the difference between an early return to the lobby or that much sought after Victory. It's frustrating to learn the art of building but it can't be overstated how rewarding it is when you manage to out-build someone, knowing that your skills were just better in that encounter. Building used in this way is pretty groundbreaking and sets Fortnite aside from its competitors. Building forts and trying to get the high ground can be important but if like me, you aren't very good at it then you can for the most part get by with just using simpler structures. It's clear though that to really become good at Fortnite then building is a skill worth learning. I love the loot system in Fortnite, no matter where you drop it is possible to get yourself reasonably well kitted out and get you in on the action or keep you alive long enough to get yourself better loot. Weapons come in a variety of rarities and these rarities can turn the tide of a battle.
The progression system in Fortnite is really good, especially if you purchase the Battle Pass and is the area that PUBG fails miserably in perhaps the most. In Fortnight you have challenges to complete and levelling up your tiers provides you with fun rewards or XP boosts. Cosmetic DLC can be purchased from the store and there's none of the frankly pathetic Loot box system found in PUBG where you buy a key and end up with a billion red T-shirts. In Fortnite you visit the store, see what you want and buy it. Prices for Skins are a bit steep but you can earn Skins just by levelling up your tiers during a season and as it's a free to play game I guess we can't really say much about it.

I think for me though the standout area where Fortnite absolutely trounces PUBG is in the way the game runs. Fortnite is so well optimised that its totally understandable to me now why so many players are leaving PUBG behind. Don't get me wrong i will still play PUBG just as much as I always have but one can't help but admire Fortnite for how smoothly it plays.

How Does the Switch Version compare to the Other platforms? Surprisingly well to be honest considering how much power the other consoles have over it. The Switch version can be played either in handheld mode or on the TV but if you are out and about you will obviously need an internet connection. The Switch version obviously has lower resolution and frame rate than its PS4/Xbox counterpart but the core of the game is still the same and shows just how well the Unreal 4 engine performs. the most notable difference is the frame rate. Instead of 60FPS we get 30FPS and resolution sits between 720p and 900p (dynamic scaling is used in docked mode). The Pro Controler is definitely the best way to play but the joy-cons are ok once you get used to them. It's truly awesome to be able to take a meaningful version of the game out and about though and in my humble opinion the Nintendo Switch version can sit proudly next to the other platforms.

Temps d'adaptation long
    - Personnalisation plutôt limité
    - Les véhicules ne sont que des éléments de décor
    - Décors peu variés

Well, I sure was wrong! This game is amazing! Though it isn't beginner-friendly, I realized that motivates you to keep trying and "git gud." Though I haven't gotten any wins yet ( as of writing this), it's still really fun and I really recommend it. The long download time is definitely worth it.

    The game is great.
I play it on nintendo switch and really enjoy it.
The only problem with the game is that the 80% of the community are little kids and there is no way to get a decent skin but mothers credit card and kids who cant buy skins are being bullied in school but fortnite do not give a chance to get a free skin.

the game it self is great

The game runs smoothly enough although PC players who paid hundreds for their graphics cards no doubt have an advantage with their massive framerates (not to mention mouse control). The only gripe I have is the lack of motion control, this is essential in a Switch game. I know it's a different control model and will take a while to develop but I really hope that Epic are working on it. For people who have played Zelda, Splatoon, etc with motion control, aiming with sticks is just horrible. Expand

Looking at the game objectively I think it's hard to deny that Fortnite offers good value. It's free and has multiple game modes (the most popular being Battle Royale as solo players or in teams), allows for custom game modes and is constantly being updated with new content.
From a technical standpoint I think it looks fine on Switch and I give them credit for having a lot of settings you can tweak (including gyro aim which I really like). However, the poor Nintendo Switch can't really handle the more demanding parts of the game (intense battles between multiple players with lots of destruction for example) which will result in framerate dips below 30fps and can really hinder your ability to play properly.
Another issue I have is how cheap the main menu looks and how much the game spams you with awful looking items it wants you to buy (for real money!). I get that they have to monetize the game but this is basically the equivalent of pop-up ads.

A more subjective problem I have with this game is its core gameplay:
I really don't care much for the movement and the weapons in this game. Compare this to Apex Legends and the difference is night and day. Whereas Apex feels fluid and powerful Fortnite feels slow and like playing with toys (weapons lack punch).
And then there's the building aspect of Fortnite. As you all propably know you can mine ressources and use them to build structures which can provide protection as well as giving you a positional advantage. Now this is obviously just my personal opinion but I really dislike this aspect of the game. I'd much rather have a smartly designed map that allows for smart positioning and provides sufficient cover.
And finally I'm very torn on the items that you can loot during gameplay. Items come and go but some are just weird. For example you can loot a fishing rod that you than use to fish for items in lakes or rivers. This just seems so stupid to me. There is so much stuff like this that has nothing to do with actually battling other players and are just there to make you waste your time.

In the end I understand that a lot of people apparently really enjoy Fortnites gameplay loop. And admittedly it's propably the best battle royale shooter on Switch right now and at the end of the day it works and it's free. But it definitely isn't for me.

I have to agree about one thing - this game is such a money vacuum. In compare with other PvP/Battle Royale games, Fortnite doesnt motivates you to be better. There is no reason to be a winner, there is no reason to be good player - no statistics, achievements, unlockable content, nothing; you just start it, and of course, buy new skins. Thats what is the main focus on - new and new skins.I have to agree about one thing - this game is such a money vacuum. Besides all of this, I cant say Fortnite is a bad game. I think its overhated for the previous complaint I wrote and because of some cringe TikTok games... but is it really a reason to give this game an "0" rate? No. Its really an okay battle royale, I think in nowadays one of the best, you can chill during playing it, have some fun, and at least some of these skins are really cool.

    Cons:

    - After a few runs, the gameplay feels shallow.
    - The few original ideas in the game, like the fort-building mechanic, are also the worst ones.
    - All the licensed content and pointless extra modes feel like dead weight.
    - Free-to-play, so it nags you for money.
    - Those dance moves are obnoxious.

    Pros:

    - Pretty fun to play for a while, and perfect to squeeze in a quick game on the Switch.
    - Yes, it lifted its best ideas from other games–but it also gave them a slick coat of paint.
    - The gameplay loop has flashes of greatness, when you feel like an embattled survivor in a post-apocalyptic world.
    - You won't have trouble finding players. Ever.
