It's fun for a little game with your friends or so, and can be quite engaging, but it's mostly so full of microtransactions and promotions it just feels pushy. The community is also pretty toxic. I can see the vision that Epic Games had for Fortnite, but it's just gone down the wrong road.

When I first played this game, I was bored out of my mind the whole time, as I felt that barely anything was happening. However, As I continued to play, I actually began to have some fun with this title. Now, I can say that this game is actually not that bad. It's not fully my cup of tea and certainly not something I'd play everyday, but I can understand why so many people genuinely enjoy this.

Fortnite has definitely lost it's charm over the years and while wining brings some satisfaction you are constantly being yelled at your teammates and being placed against players better than you frequently so while it's a good game the community brings this game way down.

In bigger creative maps and sweaty endgames the frame rate can go into the 20’s, and even when you aren’t it’ll hang around 28-31 fps. There can be pop-in when initially dropping in, though this could be because I have a 2017 switch, and this is usually only right after dropping in. It also uses up half of the storage on your switch unless you get an sd card. Overall, it’s an ok port though due to the low power of the switch it could be discontinued when Nintendos next console comes out. Expand

Fortnite at its peak was arguably the greatest multiplayer game of all time; however, throughout the years, it has grown into a childish, frustrating game that feels completely different than the game that changed the lives of so many people back in 2018.

Ignoring the fanbase, this is a pretty mediocre shooting game with a unique building mechanic with too many microtransactions. I understand the hype, but that doesn't mean I don't hate it.

I have to agree about one thing - this game is such a money vacuum. In compare with other PvP/Battle Royale games, Fortnite doesnt motivates you to be better. There is no reason to be a winner, there is no reason to be good player - no statistics, achievements, unlockable content, nothing; you just start it, and of course, buy new skins. Thats what is the main focus on - new and new skins.I have to agree about one thing - this game is such a money vacuum. Besides all of this, I cant say Fortnite is a bad game. I think its overhated for the previous complaint I wrote and because of some cringe TikTok games... but is it really a reason to give this game an "0" rate? No. Its really an okay battle royale, I think in nowadays one of the best, you can chill during playing it, have some fun, and at least some of these skins are really cool.

It’s...fine, but it really needs a stronger setup to be worth playing consistently, which the switch struggles to provide, the game in general is also starting to become stale with epic largely relying on brand deals to keep the game somewhat relevant

I approached Fortnite with an open mind, and gave it a good 5-hours shot. In the end, I found that the biggest game on Earth feels a bit insubstantial and repetitive, but it does have moments of brilliance.

    Cons:

    - After a few runs, the gameplay feels shallow.
    - The few original ideas in the game, like the fort-building mechanic, are also the worst ones.
    - All the licensed content and pointless extra modes feel like dead weight.
    - Free-to-play, so it nags you for money.
    - Those dance moves are obnoxious.

    Pros:

    - Pretty fun to play for a while, and perfect to squeeze in a quick game on the Switch.
    - Yes, it lifted its best ideas from other games–but it also gave them a slick coat of paint.
    - The gameplay loop has flashes of greatness, when you feel like an embattled survivor in a post-apocalyptic world.
    - You won't have trouble finding players. Ever.

    1. There is absolutely no hand holding for new players, even from the main menu you feel confused and to this day I don't even know how or if it's possible to browse the shop and look for skins or whatever.
    2. There is no sense of Real progression, yes you do level up once in a while but it doesn't change or affect anything else, making it just an indicator of the number of hours played. The exp curve is so that at first you level up pretty quickly but eventually you gain less and less exp.
    3. You are paired with players of any skill level so you can end up with elite players who smack you the moment you land on the map.
    4. The building mechanic does not add much to game play and gets in the way of the shooting very often. At the beginning it is also rather confusing and unintuitive
    5. Now the switch port. .. Oh boy, set at a nominal 30fps which you only actually get while running with no other players onscreen. Most of the time it sits at 15 - 25 so it becomes really choppy and laggy to the point of being unplayable during intense fights. So unstable that sprites get stuck midair or while running, making combat really unfair because you cant really follow enemy movement nor aim properly or even dodge fire. Also lighting and shadows are not really optimised.
I constantly have the low signal icon pop up even though I am next to my router.
As I said before, the main menú is just a total mess as 90% of the options on there are for microtransactions.

Now some of the positives: it's free, has cross play, you dont need Nintendo online and you can play on switch on the go.
To sum up, it's a fairly fun free game albeit repetitive after a while. And terribly optimised for Switch, if you have any other option to play it, do it because this port is catastrophic.

Looking at the game objectively I think it's hard to deny that Fortnite offers good value. It's free and has multiple game modes (the most popular being Battle Royale as solo players or in teams), allows for custom game modes and is constantly being updated with new content.
From a technical standpoint I think it looks fine on Switch and I give them credit for having a lot of settings you can tweak (including gyro aim which I really like). However, the poor Nintendo Switch can't really handle the more demanding parts of the game (intense battles between multiple players with lots of destruction for example) which will result in framerate dips below 30fps and can really hinder your ability to play properly.
Another issue I have is how cheap the main menu looks and how much the game spams you with awful looking items it wants you to buy (for real money!). I get that they have to monetize the game but this is basically the equivalent of pop-up ads.

A more subjective problem I have with this game is its core gameplay:
I really don't care much for the movement and the weapons in this game. Compare this to Apex Legends and the difference is night and day. Whereas Apex feels fluid and powerful Fortnite feels slow and like playing with toys (weapons lack punch).
And then there's the building aspect of Fortnite. As you all propably know you can mine ressources and use them to build structures which can provide protection as well as giving you a positional advantage. Now this is obviously just my personal opinion but I really dislike this aspect of the game. I'd much rather have a smartly designed map that allows for smart positioning and provides sufficient cover.
And finally I'm very torn on the items that you can loot during gameplay. Items come and go but some are just weird. For example you can loot a fishing rod that you than use to fish for items in lakes or rivers. This just seems so stupid to me. There is so much stuff like this that has nothing to do with actually battling other players and are just there to make you waste your time.

In the end I understand that a lot of people apparently really enjoy Fortnites gameplay loop. And admittedly it's propably the best battle royale shooter on Switch right now and at the end of the day it works and it's free. But it definitely isn't for me.

Oh man. The internet sensation. Fortnite.
It is okay, but is also the most overrated game in the world. People drool over this, and millions of people are playing it. It is just an online shoot em' up game, and for free it is fine. But there is no way in God's green earth am I spending hundreds of dollars on skin packs, or V-Bucks. Overall, a solid way to kill 10 minutes if you are bored.

Fortnite Battle Royale delivers a perfect balance in gunplay, progression and sandbox elements. No wonder it may be 2018's gaming phenomenon. We even like the way microtransactions allow players to enter new challenges and earn cosmetics for the game, but don´t alter the core mechanics.
