Flood of Light is a challenging but clever puzzler. Some of its tougher puzzles require some head-hurting thinking, but at least a plot twist at the end is strong reward.

It’s the sort of game I can imagine myself playing in quiet downtime while waiting for something else.

For some, Flood of Light will be a relaxing, thought-provoking puzzler perfect for a rainy day. For others its slow pace, frustrating collectibles and difficulty will mean reaching for another title instead.

Whenever you want to play a laidback yet undeniably challenging puzzler, Flood of Light will certainly do the trick.

Followers of melancholic-looking puzzle titles who like to sit down and cosy up on a rainy Sunday afternoon and test their brain with some slow-paced, solo gaming sessions will want to give this one a spin. The title does a good job of churning out challenges that will keep you entertained for hours at a time. However, if a deep story that whisks you off your feet with a meaningful narrative, tight plot and likeable characters is more your bag, then Flood of Light isn’t the title for you. We recommend spending your cash on something like Candle: The Power Of The Flame to scratch your 2D Puzzler itch.

Flood of Light is a passable title for those that are hankering for a few hours of puzzle solving. While repetitive settings and cumbersome controls hamper the overall experience, there’s enough here to justify the $4.99 price tag.

In terms of puzzles alone Flood of Light is acceptable, but everything else drags it down. The audiovisual experience is one-note, and the story is unsatisfying even when it can be clearly understood. As an experience overall, Flood of Light ends up being merely mediocre.
