    A pretty, addictive rogue-lite game that offers a unique gameplay mechanism where the player must manage the health bar in order to progress. Note that it’s still in early access and nearly half the game isn’t available yet.

    Flame Keepers fast paced combat system is the best part about this game. I really enjoyed running around and testing out all of my new skills and abilities on the various monsters lurking around. The downside is, it can feel repetitive at times which may cause players to lose interest, especially if they find the game to be difficult.

    In its current state, there’s some joy to be found in conquering a string of Flame Keeper’s levels with a perfect run, but there are just so many other, better roguelites available. Releasing an incomplete build in a market so heavily saturated with outstanding titles just isn’t a solid strategy.

    Flame Keeper is a truly accessible rogue-lite for anyone new to the genre, or someone who does not want an unforgiving time. Whilst currently incomplete and with some technical issues, Flame Keeper is fun with visually appealing details and offers an addictive gameplay loop.

    Flame Keeper may eventually end up being a great example of the roguelite genre, but in this unfinished form it’s just too slight to give too much attention to. You can easily see everything worth seeing in a couple of hours, and while that’s not bad bang for the buck, it’s not great relative to other games of this sort that you can pick up for a similar price. As I say from time to time, I can’t review an unknown future. I can only look at what is here in front of me now, and in that context Flame Keeper is just okay.

    Incredibly frusterating. I liked the controls at first but the gameplay was just not good. The runs took way too long between each map just toIncredibly frusterating. I liked the controls at first but the gameplay was just not good. The runs took way too long between each map just to fail on the last map and therefore fail the whole thing and start all over again. It's wildly bad design to be not at all rewarding for far too long.

    The audio is also just atrocious. The music could not be more generic and the overall atmosphere created by the enenies and actions just don't have a lot of punch.

    Just nothing about this game is good other then it was cheap and a $5 lesson learned to stay away.

    The visuals also just get so bland and repetitive.
    This feels like a grind heavy game just looking at just how much you have to do to get an upgrade. Without a hook though in so many other aspects, nothing is really done to get a player to want to grind this game out.    … Full Review »
