The game is a ton of fun and were it not for one issue, I would give this an 8 or a 9. The issue I have is somewhat poor optimization for the switch. A very well polished game, from the execution to the little bits that some devs would not bother with.

This game has a very good art style also, where the 8bit dungeon walls certainly seem to have alot of hours into making them look detailed and interesting, let alone the Bosses and the quirky sprits of the enemies. The Animations are very nice.

The user controls are nice and make you feel powerful even if you're going to get pounded by a boss...

Difficulty is pretty unforgiving , just like your usual 'roguelike'. Drops like health are rare-'as' and finding the right gear is not always a certainty. I would suggest the devs make a baby difficulty or perhaps less brutal difficulty for noobs like me - perhaps cutting half the content to make it worth while to step up the difficulty later.

In all , this plays well and has plenty of content. It is a very polished product; though i would not find it fun enough to spend hours playing it on end, it is still a pleasure to pick up before you lose your pride...

this game is just very satisfying and fun to play in general. the controls are a bit tough to get used to at first, but well-made and customizeable. just being in this game and shooting the enemies and progressing through it is very satisfying. i love the small pieces of charm, like how everything is gun-related, and the randomness combined with the difficulty leads to it being a game you can play over and over again, having a different experience each time. the lore behind the game is surprisingly detailed, and each gun and character has a reason for existing. the game itself seems to not take itself seriously at times, however, such as having a shotgun shell that shoots shotguns that shoots shells.

the difficulty of the game can be daunting at first, but the difficulty is rewarded by the bosses and new areas being fun to defeat and explore. there are ways to progress, such as making short-cuts to later zones (with disadvantages) to lessen the difficulty, or ways to enhance the difficulty for a greater challenge.

with multiplayer, you can use a single joy-con for each person, but i recommend using two joy-cons for each, so it's more comfortable.
and also, you can get from the game booting to playing it in barely any time, just by hitting a button.

The fighting system is uber fun, aim in 360 direction, and thanks to clever camera positioning, this 2-d game is uniquely not 2-d. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for loads of fun and bullet mayhem. Many say this game is very difficult, but it really isn't it just requires perseverance and and the grind isn't obvious at all as the game is just pure fun.

The game runs fantastically on switch except for very random frame drops which may freak you out, and a change of controls is definitely necessary if you actually want to beat the game. The fact that the game is offline makes it great for switch as you can take it anywhere for hours of fun and it has a two-player mode if your local friends want to join in. the music is great which helps to deal with deaths at later floors. Many say the game is repetitive but the levels are constantly changing so you will probably never get the same layout twice, and the more you play the games the more guns you get making it easier to progress to later floors.

My only problem with the game is the huge amount of RNG required to progress well although this makes it fun most of the time, some rounds you will be stuck with the starter gun until the second floor and other rounds you will have some of the most over powered guns in the game. Also if you are worried about aiming being hard on switch don't worry the aim assist is very helpful, and as long as you are pointing in that direction the bullet will most likely hit the enemy. Overall Enter The Gungeon is really worth the buy if you up for it and will supply you with countless hours of fun for only £15 or less if you get it on sale like I did.

This game is great! It has so much charm and humor, it’s gameplay is refined, and it’s just overall a great game. The art style is great, the gameplay loop rarely gets old, there is just so much about this game that will feel great while playing. The difficulty has some big spikes sometimes, and permsdeath is a thing, but it’s still great to just pick up and play a few rounds.

At first I struggled to get into the game, but after 3 runs I was absolutely addicted. There is always new things popping up all the time, new NPC’s, new unlockable weapons or items and 4 different playable characters.

It's very tough, not for the people who like play "just for fun". Even though it's playable while you're listening something (i used to listen job stuff and it works). You have to learn:
    1. how to see the "diary" in the menu, to know what things to buy and what not
    2. move while shooting around the enemy
    3. how to use the little blue bomb
after that it's just rough fun, and you can play one/two game everyday...
Every game is quite different because it has a random room creation system... good for the variety.
Must have for everybody like to shoot to everything move!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. All of my problems can be summed up with Bullet Hell. The area makes you fight SO many overpowered enemies and ends off with a very powerful boss, THEN the game tells you to "git gud" in this toxic (and I hate to say this) Dark Souls community manner and it's at its best when you're actually fighting in a fair area, however, giving this game a 10? Nah, it just has too many dumb things in it. Is it bad? No. Is it unfair sometimes? Hell yes. Expand

There doesnt seem to be the right level or progression compared to other Rouge games, Binding of Issac you can get through the game once you know the dynamics of the enemies and then the upgrades help you go further, Rouge legacy lets you upgrade yourself to get further and further but Gungeon you seem very stuck in the level you are at unless you get a gun that Over powers you or you get a ton of money to buy something that can help you.

I got as far as the 4th area before giving up due to mundane repetition.

    Pros:
    - Fun to play until you have to keep repeating essentially the same thing over and over
    - Good challenge, maybe too much

    Cons:
    - The repetition became sluggish as progress felt slow
    - Too much random luck in getting good weapons or items in a run or the boss to fight
    - Too slow in progressing

Plain and simple, this game never gripped onto me. Nothing particularly bad is present but nothing caught my eye either. While the feedback loop was interesting I felt that the game lacked the heart, soul, and emotion of other games. Sometimes as you enter the next room the enemies are right there ready to greet you with a bullet to the face, other times nobody is home. I never got past the first boss. In the five attempts I encountered Bullet King twice and Gatling Gull thrice. Extra hearts or extra lives and/or quicker reload times would have made this playable for me. I did not play Co-Op mode. Maybe Co-Op mode would have made it enjoyable or easier to play. Someone with more skill and more time could play and score this positively. I wish, I had my money back.

With the new update the game did get a little better, answering a really needed prayer of checkpoints between floors, yet still not enough has been changed to have me change the rating I've given the game, as it is still lackluster, and repetitive the moment I pick up the controller.

Love the game but the port is quit bad. The frame rate is fine most of the time but when it gets really intense it can drop down very low. This can be really bad in some boss fights for example in Gorgun fight the frame rate drops down to teens. Crashing is also a problem I would say that it crashes every four hours or so and that's too often in my opinion.

it's a fun game, i would have givenit a better score if it had more content though, don't get me wrong it's super fun toplay, butconsidering the price it's just not enough content for me to give it a 9 or even an 8 out of 10

THE SWITCH VERSION LAGS. Do I have to say more? Well that's not the only thing that makes this game not fun. I don't enjoy the gun play and it every time you die you get back to the beginning. Which is not a bad thing if you would get better stuff when you die BUT you don't! You just keep wasting your time on the same first three stages without going no where. Fun.

Un bon petit rogue lite gungeon crawler! les boss sont tous fabuleux! petit bémol: les niveaux manque de panache et le jeu devient redondant, mais sa reste une bonne petite expérience (a jouer a deux pour en soutirer toute sa valeur.)

Enter the Gungeon is a rougelike 2d shooter/dungeon crawler that offers the player a selection of characters, with different weapons and abilities, in which to try to tackle the games six levels.

Featuring a host of imaginative weaponry and enemy types the gameplay is great fun with the tight controls allowing you to shoot, dodge and flip tables as enemies come at you from all sides.

Being a rougelike however all your progress is lost every time you die, and whilst I know this appeals to many people, I personally lost interest before ever managing to see the game through to it’s conclusion...

A fantastic rogue-like with solid gameplay, tons of content and game modes to unlock, and tough challenges. Yes, it is a tough game, but the slow climb up the mountain is what makes rogue like games so satisfying. If you have any interest in the genre and enjoy some goofy humor and references, I'd definitely check this one out.

Before the new update, I had liked the game but found it a bit harder than I find enjoyable. I gave up not too long after I hit the 10 hour mark. I returned some days ago and now the game is the perfect amount of hard; it feels fair. When I die it’s because I messed up not because I scrape by each run and can’t find any decent loot and don’t have enough money to buy from the shop. Reminds me of how I usually feel when I die in dark souls, I know I have the weapons and items, but it’s usually because *I* mess up. I also now own the game on the switch and it’s terrific on the go. Honestly this new update made the game go from a previously given 7 to a super solid 9 for me. Expand

An absolute banger from start to finish. Even after 125 hours of playtime on my Switch the game has barely gotten boring to me. I'm still finding new guns, new secret chambers, characters and so much more. I've beaten the game 7 times with different modes and characters and it still feels almost as fresh as when I originally bought it.

Don't buy the game if you aren't patient enough to get good with hard games, though, or you'll become as braindead as the users who gave this game a 1 or a 0. It's a roguelike bullethell, obviously it doesn't have extra lives or that many ways to ease the game. It's a tough time, but if you're ready to stick through it, I'd recommend it a lot. Great visuals with the moody lighting, nice pixel art, Cool enemy and gun designs with many easter eggs and references thrown in and with a really fun and engaging Co-Op mode, this game is a blast in every meaning of the word. The only reason I didn't give it a 10 is because it lacks some serious optimization when using certain guns or items or fighting against certain bosses that may drop the frames to under 20 at times, even with the speedy graphics settings on Switch.

Such a good rogue-like game for a switch. A lot of fans of this genre of games ask what's better Isaac or the Gungeon, in my opinion both of them are great. However, Isaac reaches its peak of greatness while playing with keyboard. Meanwhile, Gungeon is at its best while played with controller. I do play both of these games, but one on PC and the other on the Switch.

Great pixel graphics, smooth animations, a lot of content. There is a lot to achieve while playing (a lot before me as well). It's a game that takes time to get good at it, and to unlock everything. It's cute and well designed. I hope that a lot of people who have dilemma whether to buy it or not, would take a risk to play it at its bests with controller rather than keyboard.

Tones of fun, but if you don't like challenging games like cuphead or old school 8-bit games you won't like it. It will take a bunch of time to learn patterns and get good enough to get through a decent run, but the game is rg so it feels new enough that it is still exciting.

I've loved twin stick shooters since Robotron 2084. This one doesn't seem to have the manic pace that I enjoy so much from other twin stick shooters. While not a bad game, by any stretch, I feel there's just a ton of these that do it better.

Enter the Gungeon can be brutal. However, you’ll find yourself laughing at its quirky dialogue and obviously ridiculous weapons, and you’ll dust yourself off and jump back in. And each time, you get a little bit better, get a little bit farther, discover a secret area on the map, and prepare to die — just one more time.

Games as good as Enter the Gungeon don’t come along very often. There’s so much to discover here that you’ll be playing this game for a long time. And you’ll still come back even after you see everything. Gungeon is the pinnacle of rogue-like design.
