There are certainly strong moments in this game, but the core mechanics are poorly implemented.

World design is very linear with few secrets, boring backtracking and a terrible fasttravel system.

Several hours in, you can't help but wonder if the frustration and boredom are worth the slog to the finishline.

This game is hella boring. There is nothing in its gameplay or character or level design that truly stands out. Ender Lillies is not a bad game its just a very meh game that you will have to force yourself to complete.

Very disappointed. Coming from HK the reviews for this game were very hype. Unfortunately the setting didn’t appeal to me and the combat and exploration were awful. Setting: dark fantasy I guess? Unfortunately the setting didn’t appeal to me and the combat and exploration were awful. Setting: dark fantasy I guess? Honestly it felt very contrived. None of the biomes feel connected and some are just straight rip offs of other games. The music that everyone loves sounds like a collection of children’s lulabyes. Not for me. Combat: there is no sound or impact to hitting enemies. They don’t bounce back or register you hitting them. They just keep doing what they are doing. It feels like your attacks are just swinging in mid air. This makes combat extremely boring and aggravating. There is no input to your physical actions so they end up not feeling like physical actions. It’s like listening to music on mute. Map and exploration: this was my biggest issue. The map is so bad (and yes I could figure it out) that it makes the entire world NOT feel like a world, but rather a slide show if individuals zones. I never felt like I was traveling. I’d look at my map and see I had made huge progress but it never felt like it. This game was very mid. Would not recommend. Expand

While looking gorgeous and dripping with atmosphere, Ender Lilies may not be the greatest metroidvania when it comes to level design and combat. Thankfully, it is easy to overlook if you are not of the nitpicking kind. But still, make sure to use the game’s momentum while it lasts, since a number of its bumps may spoil the ride for some players out there.

Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights is a solid game all around, with a fun and always evolving combat system, a well-crafted world with tons of secrets to find, and a sober soundtrack accompanying its traversal acting as the title’s highlights. A word of caution should be given regarding the difficulty, since both regular enemies and bosses can prove to be quite hard to beat, especially during the final act. The story doesn’t shine for its originality but still manages to be well worth uncovering thanks to its characters and setting, making this bleak but ultimately endearing Metroidvania a strong recommendation for anyone that is up for the challenge.

ENDER LILLIES: Quietus of the Knights is the definition of sky-high potential gone to waste. At first it will seem like this is a flawless diamond. It is beautiful, it controls like a charm, and the story behind it all is mysterious and dark. The more you play, however, the more you realise that, under the wallpaper-worthy vistas lies something that leans more towards generic than awesome, with combat in particular slowly turning into a repetitive slog. Sadly, this is nothing more an 'okay' metroidvania.
