Deponia is full of humor, funny puzzle-solving, and with a setting that I thoroughly enjoy in fiction. For anyone who likes point-and-click adventures, this series is one for you.

With lovably odd characters, a fantastic art design, and a really engaging style of gameplay, Deponia shows what a modern point and click game should be. Despite a steep incline in difficulty that may catch a few players off guard, Deponia’s highlight is its character design and writing, and you can expect to be entertained throughout.

Deponia is a pretty good point-and-click adventure. It’s definitely heavily focused on being a more humorous take on the genre, and while I smiled at a few of the jokes, I rarely found anything overly funny – but humor is subjective, so maybe it was just me. I enjoyed the visuals and appreciated the games audio – save for a few minor issues.

In its current state, the Switch version has no touch screen support. This is very disappointing given the platform and its various input options are perfectly suited to games in this genre. Thimbleweed Park is the best example of how to handle bringing the genre to Switch. The Switch version of Deponia also has some inconsistency with A and B for selecting. Usually, games that see late ports to Switch and cost more have a few added extras. Over here, you aren’t getting anything extra barring the asking price.

Deponia is a fine example of the genre, but there's no getting around the fact that the game's price on Switch will be your main barrier to entry here. It plays well and has that charm that Daedalic is famous for, and it constantly reminds you of the Monkey Island series – no bad thing at all. But when you're able to find the same game for under a quid if you look hard enough – and you take into account that this Switch version has no added benefits – it becomes harder to recommend. You'd be better of waiting for a price drop, or, if you're still interested, investigate if Deponia is available on an alternative platform at a cheaper price.

While Deponia still remains a satisfying experience, this Switch edition is quite disappointing. Far too much expensive, as the Steam version of the game is nearly free today, it also contains some graphic or major glitches. Also, where are the sequels?

Of course that naturally comes with some infuriatingly obscure "puzzle solutions". It's much easier then dialing up on AOL and posting a question to some message board and waiting days for someone to tell you how to solve a problem in Space Quest that you already know the solution to, but don't know the exact wording. But the reason it's easier is the fact that GameFaqs exists.
I did have a few bugs and freezes, but luckily I went in and out and didn't lose much progress. Nothing game breaking for me.
If you never played these types of games before, I doubt this will make you a fan of the genre. For old school fans who know what they're getting into, there's enough to enjoy - especially if you get it super cheap like I did.

Expand

First of all, it full of different bugs. Several times I had to restart the game to proceed. Also, sometimes it's unclear what you need to do because you missed some triggers. You can't understand it until you check a walkthrough. One more thing, game controls in puzzles just stuck sometimes. So you have to exit and start it again. There is no way to skip puzzles too.

Second - inconvenient controls. There is a touch screen on the console, why developers didn't add support for it?

Well, I skipped it after it stuck almost at the end of the game. I guess, better to play it on other platforms. Bought with a good discount, but it wasn't worth it

Don't get me wrong. I've purchased the game on the PC and it's AMAZING. One of the funniest and most entertaining adventure games I know. Still, I didn't pay anything for it (got it in one of the MANY giveaways), but I would love to see it with 5$ price tag( or 10$, if I'm desperate) 40? That's just preying on naive people, and I have no interest in being a part of that.

This game goes around on PC for FREE. On a bad day you can buy it for a few dollars. Pricing it at 40$ is an obvious attempt on getting people buy it at a permanent sale and it's a cash grab. Sorry guys, your game is great, but your marketing practice is vomit-inducing. It almost makes me wish I never purchased any of the products.

tl;dr -publisher is greedy; get it on PC, otherwise you're getting ripped off.
