turn based games can get stale but the energy based exploration card battles put it in the classic game tier for me
all in all i was not disappointing a wonderful game that permeates style throughout
no crashes yet happily but i save quite often to change a choice gone bad I know...cheater lol
all in all a must buy for the switch

I was surprised to find that the normal difficulty does not feature permadeath although it is advertised as a rougelike deckbuilder. After playing for quite some time, I would rather characterize it as a deckbuilding, dungeoncrawling lootfest. It is amazing how loot centric this game is, it is almost Diablo level! Sadly, the game crashes now and then and the UI does have its bugs. If these would be fixed, I would rate this an 8. Expand

I really wanted to like this game but sadly I've given up on it after only a couple of hours of play. The game looks pretty good and is quite atmospheric, but here are the problems that have caused me to quit:
    1. This is quite a complex game and nothing is really explained properly. You just have to stumble along and work things out for yourself as you go.
    2. The cards are all pretty
    2. The cards are all pretty generic looking and many seem unnecessarily complicated. You spend a lot of time just reading different cards that all seem to do pretty much the same thing.
    3. Each character can only play ONE card per turn which seems pretty limiting and reduces the card playing potential for 'strategy' while in combat.
    4. Exploring the derelicts via a boring 2D map is not as exciting as it should be.
    5. The game seemed to glitch on me a number of times. Twice I entered a battle and the menu screen didn't disappear so I couldn't see what was going on, and twice I just suddenly died and I still don't know why.
I you LOVE this genre then maybe you could persist more than I did and enjoy your experience, but I have decided I can't be bothered investing anymore of my time into this game.

Deep Sky Derelicts: Definitive Edition combines perfectly with the Nintendo Switch portable mode, allowing you to play the game slowly on the road or before going to bed. This is an interesting and atmospheric project for fans of turn-based RPGs, but the absence of any striking features in the visual design and the sterile plot cause a sense of secondariness.

Deep Sky Derelicts serves up joyful space exploration, with an unbeatable comic book art style and a cast of memorable NPCs to meet. Barring the overwhelming item system and tutorial text, the experience is seamless and rewarding.

Deep Sky Derelicts brings a lot of things and two of them stand out: a roguelike approach to exploration and a turn-based RPG take on combat under the form of cards. Along with rich amount of character customization, this makes the game an enjoyable experience, but one that requires some time investment before it bears fruit. Some elements aren't very practical either when it comes to the functioning of the game, but more dedicated players will find their way around.
