    De Mambo is a game that definitely needs to be played with friends for you to get the most out of it. Although the solo mode is challenging and rather unique on the Switch, it can be beat in a few hours and doesn't offer much in the form of replayability. However, if you add a few friends to the mix and hit up the multiplayer modes you will find hours of fun with this game. With a simple to pick up yet difficult to master set of gameplay mechanics, it's not hard to find yourselves hooked on battling it out; vying to see who can become the De Mambo king (or queen) amongst your local circle of friends.

    A noble attempt to offer an alternative to Smash Bros., and although there are some mechanical issues the multiplayer is still plenty of fun regardless.

    It's a fun distraction to casually play with friends -- be they competitive or casual -- and will perhaps help hold us all over till a proper Smash Bros. releases on the Switch; much like how the developers waited for a 3DS version. This is one fun little dance.

    Unfortunately, the entirety of De Mambo can be summed up with the initial letter sent by the developers. Yes, the style, music, level design, and ideas are all awesome. It is clear the developers put a ton of thought and heart into the game, pouring all their creative ideas into the title. Unfortunately, it never comes together in a package I am comfortable playing. The physics are abnormal and not easy to get used to, while the lack of online and health bar are weird oversights for a game like this. Overall, De Mambo nails down the unique factor for the game, but it does so without the basic building blocks required beforehand.

    De Mambo is odd. De Mambo knows how odd it is, and bathes in the identity that it has created for itself. What you’ll find here is a fascinatingly strange little game with style that I haven’t quite seen before. If you’re looking for another charming little multiplayer experience to add to your portable library, De Mambo might be something you want to check out. It’s not perfect, but there’s definitely some good here that outshines its flaws.

    De Mambo is a game with some clever ideas, but is ultimately held back by it’s limited features. No online play, bland levels and not enough of a hook to keep me coming back for more is unfortunately what stands out the most. That’s not to say there isn’t a place for this game if you have access to a group of friends who can regularly meet up and want a bite sized party game. It does enough right that makes it worth checking out in the right circumstances, just don’t expect to play hours on end.
