Jan 28, 2020Coffee Talk, a simple title for a simple but rewarding game. Cozy, inviting, enveloping and heart-warming, Coffee Talk puts the player behind the counter of a popular coffee shop where all sorts of people (and even species) go to relax, to vent their frustrations, to get some work done, and where the player's performance as a barista will influence the plot and the ending. These words do the game no justice, Coffee Talk is the kind of experience that should be played anywhere and at any time.

Feb 8, 2020Games in the 'visual novel' corner of the industry can often leave you a little cold unless you’re happy to watch an anime with a small amount of actual player interaction, but with its unique premise and interesting take on a fantasy world (think Netflix's Bright, but actually good), Coffee Talk serves up a refreshing brew of angst, introspection and coffee beans. Its hand-crafted story mode is a tad too short for our liking, but with Endless mode you’ll have plenty of fun getting in touch with your inner barista.

Mar 23, 2020Coffee Talk might not be for everyone and the lack of overt gameplay will likely give some players pause – as it did with me — but my time in this faux-Seattle café was well-spent, and I genuinely hope that the cast returns for a sequel.

Feb 12, 2020Coffee Talk is a simple game. What makes it work is the way all of the elements — from the endearing writing to the soothing soundtrack — work together to create a supremely chill experience. The stories are serious, but the experience is mellow. There are no time limits or game over screens to deal with. I played it on the Switch, and the vibe was just about perfect: reclined, with headphones in, gripping my own hot mug of coffee. It’s almost as good as the real thing.
