Jul 5, 2022Capcom Fighting Collection presents a slightly bemusing package, given that half of the content is Darkstalkers and seven of these titles are in the two Capcom Arcade Stadium games. Cyberbots feels oddly out of place with its mecha-style gameplay, as does Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo, but that's hardly a complaint; it just feels like the overall product could have been bolstered by more of Capcom's rich fighting game history, of which there is plenty to choose from. This is a great way to dive into the fan favourite Darkstalkers franchise, in particular, though, and seeing games previously exclusive to arcades, like Red Earth, make their way to consoles for the first time is a pleasure. Just beware the hefty price tag and lack of cross-platform online play.

Jun 23, 2022Capcom Fighting Collection is a pretty good collection of games, including some titles that we haven’t seen in these specific forms on home consoles before. It leans a little hard on the Darkstalkers games with some very slight variants that feel like they are padding the number out a bit. The overlap with other collections and my bad experiences with the online play keep me from recommending this too enthusiastically, but even with all of that taken into account, this is still worth picking up for fans of Capcom’s fighters.

Jun 23, 2022Overall, Capcom Fighting Collection is a decent compilation. With its various bonuses, options and new modes, it appears to be an ideal companion for lovers of 2D fighting games. On the other hand, some choices (Cyberbots, Red Earth) can challenge and the Darkstalkers saga represents half of the titles available! A daring bet that will not please everyone, but we must recognize that the Street Fighter trilogy, with the anniversary edition, the Super Gem Fighter and the Puzzle Fighter II Turbo, is worth the detour. Depending on how attached you are to the ten games in this compilation, this one will have a more or less pronounced interest.
