The best in the series, with much more levels and a pretty fun cooperative mode.

I wonder if anyone rating >5/10 really played this game to the end. After beating the game, gathering all crowns with ease, using minimum # of boxes (sometimes I used 0 when less than 30 was needed for "3-star". Question to level designers: was I supposed to cheat like that with ease?). For the 99.9% of the game I thought "OMG, this tutorial is really long...". Now I can honestly claim that this is one of the easiest and dull logic game ever. I don't even remember if there was ever a game that caused so many yawns during gameplay. I see only one reason to buy this game: If you need to use a toilet to make "#2" this game may be good choice to help you with that. Expand

The game is enjoyable, but I felt there could have been better pacing throughout. Some of the cut scenes and intermittent screens seemed to interrupt the flow of gameplay, rather than enhance it. This might be the most bang for your buck game you can get on switch. It is only $10 and is about 5 hours long, compare that to a Nintemdo published release like Kirby Star Allies which us $60 and the same length, 5 hours long. Beyond that, the co-op mode and collectibles can get you about an extra 10 hours. "OK," you may say, "quality over quantity, right?". Fair enough. This game's puzzles are simple yet challenging and fun, perfect bite sized brain - teasers for the switch. Every single world introduces a new mechanic, and that mechanic is used a fair amount, not enough to feel tired, but more than just scratching the surface. The story is minimalist, yet the cutscenes are still charming and engaging. If you have an extra $10 don't go the wrong way. Expand

Banger. One of my favorite puzzle games of all time. Everything HAL puts out is gold.

A great game overall and an outright awesome pick for its price. Main puzzles are pretty easy, but completing with low amount of boxes while collecting all crowns gets pretty challenging as you keep going. Level structure and instant rollback work really well in eliminating frustration games of this kind tend to have.

    BOXBOY! + BOXGIRL! is a fantastic continuation for this not-so-finished-after-all franchise. [Issue #40 – July/August 2019, p. 24]

BOXBOY! + BOXGIRL! is the fourth game of the BoxBoy! series and this iteration brings a very welcome cooperative mode, as well as new additions that contribute towards making puzzle solving more enjoyable. Character customization is also a new element that contributes to make this a remarkable and fun puzzle game and which will fit perfectly with those who enjoy using their heads.

Overall, Boxboy! + Boxgirl! does much more right than wrong. Outside of some ambiguity in how to perfectly solve a puzzle and a generally underwhelming visual style, Boxboy! + Boxgirl! is a daringly innovative puzzle-platformer. There’s so much to see, so much to do, and with another person in tow the whole adventure takes on a different dimension. This is one of the best new franchises to come out of Nintendo and HAL in recent times and further proof of how both companies are not showing any signs of slowing down. Boxboy! + Boxgirl! should be on everyone’s download lists.
