The visuals and 80s soundtrack are amazing and look great whether playing on a TV or on the Switch in mobile mode. Too often did I feel I was on the back foot when it came to weapons, upgrades, and dealing with random enemies. There’s definitely a balance issue when it comes to the procedurally generated mechanics.

I enjoyed so much, really like the context and... I see further. My idea is that these ones are the perfect characters for a movie!

Is a fast paced rogue lite shooter easy to learn but hard to master. Some times is a little bit frustrating but thanks to an upgrades system every try is different and challenging. The pixelated graphic is awesome and the soundtrack took me back in the 80's. Expand

I would actually give this game a 6, but there are clearly two, fake 10 reviews. Black Paradox should be an excellent game. The music isI would actually give this game a 6, but there are clearly two, fake 10 reviews. Black Paradox should be an excellent game. The music is amazing retro synth, the pixel graphics and animations are great, the colors and lights are exciting, procedurally generated levels are more interesting to me than being forced to memorize a game by playing the same level over and over, but the gameplay fails on every level.
This game is what you would call a euro shmup, and it's meant in the worst way possible. Your ship is too weak for the game to be enjoyable. Every enemy takes several shots to kill, and most of the time the weapon that spawns isn't strong enough to kill every enemy. This is supposed to be alleviated by upgrading your ship. The main problem is, 90% of the upgrades are horrible. After every run you have two possible upgrades you can buy, but 90% of them have crap passive effects that trigger 2% of the time, and only buff two of your stats by 5%. I must have done 6 runs before I saw an upgrade that did more than that and I couldn't afford it because I couldn't get anywhere in the game with my pea shooter ship. This isn't like Skyforce or Angerforce where your upgrades make you demonstrably more powerful and give you cool abilities and added weapons. This is even worse than Steredenn where your upgrade gives you a 15% damage boost.
On top of the terrible progression system is the hook of the game, the black paradox. All this is is a meter that builds up during the level and eventually lets you summon a bot ship that auto fires for about 20 seconds then leaves. The bot ship isn't even particularly powerful and feels useless in boss fights because it can't track the boss fast enough to hit it. There are no bombs or secondary weapons in the game as far as I'm aware. I got to level 4 once and promptly died because my ship is so weak. You can swap between two weapons but only shoot one at a time.
The game is amazingly cheap, but you're better off getting any of the shmups from the capcom arcade collection which will only run you $2 each.

The huge amount of 10/10 reviews gives me strange vibes - even if they are less critical or have no experience in the genre, I doubt many gamers would consider this game to be perfect and flawless.
