Biomorph breathes fresh air into the Metroidvania genre with its standout mechanic—absorbing and transforming into defeated enemies. While future titles could push this concept further, it remains a rock-solid addition to the genre that will satisfy most players. The game’s distinctive art style and endearing characters pull you into its world, while rebuilding and personalizing the city of Blightmoor lets you leave your own mark on its streets.

A unique Metroidvania with a charming hand drawn art style and a fun body snatching mechanic.

While I enjoy the characters and animation, BIOMORPH doesn’t bring many new elements to the metroidvania genre. If you’re looking for a new entry point, then BIOMORPH could be a great choice, but veterans may be left wanting more.

I had some fun with BIOMORPH but it definitely doesn't live up to the dozen or so must-play indie Metroidvanias already out there.

Ultimately, Biomorph is a serviceable addition to the metroidvania subgenre that I think most fans of the content will enjoy thanks to the appealing look of its graphics and the novelty of the main character’s ability to transform. It might not break much new ground, but a solid experience doesn’t necessarily have to.
