It’s a boring arpg that hide behind narrative storytelling excuse.

If you like narrative storytelling, this game will make you cum. If you like rpg, go buy something else

It's a nice and even beautiful game (though not in all places time was nice to it). Bought it just for 1$ at Nintendo Sale, totally worth it.

+The length of the game is exactly right.
    +The art is mostly nice.
    +The world-building is ok.
+The ending is well-made (and the options there make sense).

    Cons:
-The loading times are obnoxious for such a small game.
-The art is outdated in some places (like the Kid model itself). And in general, repetitive.
-All this plot involving Zulf was super predictable, stupid and meh.
-The controls felt bulky and unresponsive at times.
-And the world doesn't feel alive whatsoever here. Just locations wit NPCs.

I’m halfway through the game, and I’m not sure if I want to finish it. It’s just meh. The game-play is fine but nothing special. The narrator is kind of annoying with his “I’m so cool” vibe. He’s talking about the different races and events from the past like it’s some kind of epic lore but it’s not. The game is in dire need of a good introductory cut-scene to hook you in. The odd gimmick where the world creates under you gets old really fast and takes away from exploration. Movement is slow and combat is very clunky. I have heard this was a classic but I didn’t enjoy it.

I like the *mode* of storytelling, but the story itself is not that great (at least to me), and the gameplay is not Hades either. The gameplay itself is OK, because it is not too hard or complicated, and flows well. It's nice that the levels are not too long and the combat is not too difficult, because the story is the focus and that's a change of pace, I guess. The art style/graphics are also not bad. However, all in all, I did not see why the game got such overwhelming praise. I guess people feel for it what I do for Hades. Expand

The main character walks at a painfully slow pace so you end up dodge rolling to move around faster, however due to the asymmetric vantage point I would occasionally fall off the edge of a level due to visual clutter. The overall art style is wonderful, but the levels all seemed very similar only with subtle differences in design, so this didn't entice me to want to venture back to them and explore. The overall world within the game of bastion felt tiny as small paths unfold before you as your player moves within a level. This made me feel trapped, and a bit claustrophobic. As to the visual clutter there just seemed like a lot of elements jammed onto a tiny field of play, and due to lack of textures could and often did make it difficult to navigate. Most people seem to like the narration, I am yet another exception as I found it to be distracting except where it was necessary to move the story/plot along. For those who don't know the game has the narrator follow you throughout your journey and comments on absolutely everything little thing you do, which if you're like me would come to find it tiresome at a certain point. As for audio the overall soundtrack is great and gave the game a solid boost. The combat mechanics felt slow and a bit clunky, so I didn’t find them very satisfying. As for progression it seems to fly by and your character levels up very quickly which felt a bit hollow or lacking in some way. It’s a fine line between leveling too fast to not fast enough where it feels like a grind, but there is absolutely no grind to be found here if that’s your thing. This game is developed by the same folks who made Hades; however, Bastion came first, and it shows. I found the game to be just okay but nothing I would recommend to others as it didn’t make any lasting impression on me. If you like action RPG’s with asymmetric views, try Cat Quest & Cat Quest 2. Both titles are similar, but I found cat quest to be way more enjoyable. Expand

Tight controls and a fun experience that does not overstay its welcome. The story is a bit shallow, but it is enough to keep the player engaged.

It’s great to finally see Supergiant Games bring some of their great work over to a Nintendo platform and Bastion easily ranks among the best. From its eye-catching presentation to the mysterious story to the challenging but satisfying combat Bastion is an emotionally fascinating journey from start to finish and one well worth venturing.

Bastion is an involving and accessible adventure that brings its original successful formula back into play, this time on the Nintendo Switch. With a marvelous art style, an intuitive gameplay and a very appealing narration technique, Bastion is without a doubt a game that everyone should try.

Bastion is a thrilling action RPG. Supergiant Games' fans will love it, but it's definitely for those who want a story with incredible music, fascinating characters and incredible gameplay.
