Apr 19, 2023Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End and the Secret Key is a satisfying end to the "Secret" trilogy. Gust truly went all-out for Ryza's final adventure and I think it was well worth the effort. The open-zone gameplay and story elements truly felt like Gust reaching a new level on what they could do with their games. It's hard to know if Gust can ever replicate or surpass the Ryza trilogy in terms of success, but the lessons learned with this trilogy could help them nail down a course to success for the Atelier franchise. Until such a time happens, I congratulate Gust on their success with all three of these games and I'm looking forward to seeing what they come up with next.

Mar 29, 2023Atelier Ryza 3 has the difficult job of ending the story of the franchise’s break-out star, and it manages this task very well. At the same time, its ambitions feel like they’re a little too big for the Switch hardware at times, leading to some technical issues that might make you want to check out another version instead. It will be interesting to see where the Atelier series goes from here. This amazing journey we’ve been on that concludes with this dynamite RPG will certainly be a hard one to top.

Mar 23, 2023Atelier Ryza 3 is the best game in the series to date. An outstanding instalment that brings the most successful trilogy of the Atelier series to a close with a highly versatile, entertaining and emotional adventure. We have seen these characters grow over the years, and this adventure is the perfect moment to say goodbye to them. If you're a fan of the series, you have to give it a try.
-
Mar 23, 2023Atelier Ryza 3 is the perfect way to end the trilogy with slight improvements on almost all aspects found in it’s predescessors, an intriguing story, and some fluid, satisfying combat. An absolute must-play for Atelier fans.

Mar 23, 2023Atelier Ryza 3 should be the final chapter for Ryza, and it’s a fine send-off. It’s a game in which nostalgia plays a key thematic role, and has been made for nostalgic Atelier fans first and foremost. I know this probably sounds like faint praise, but Atelier is my favourite JRPG series and Ryza 3 is a perfectly fine game in that context. Hence the store. It’s just that, more than anything else, I dearly hope that after the next Marie remake, Gust settles down to give us new stories, new adorable alchemist girls, and some new ideas again.

Mar 23, 2023Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key ends Ryza's three-game run on a high note, serving up a heady mix of exploration, crafting and combat that benefits greatly from a narrative arc that's had time to develop and grow. The new key mechanics add more depth to combat, synthesis and exploration, the world is more seamless and diverse than ever before and the whole thing comes together to form a satisfying end for this hugely popular protagonist. We did have some issues with small text, no English dub and a little fussiness in how information is relayed, but overall this is Gust's finest adventure to date and a JRPG experience that long-term fans and newcomers alike will find plenty to delight in.

Apr 7, 2023The first Atelier series to follow a singular character throughout its trilogy is coming to an end. The gameplay is still the same at its core and still very enjoyable, but it features some refreshing new mechanics. Overall, Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key is a worthy finale for such an iconic series.

Mar 27, 2023Atelier Ryza 3 is a wonderfully cheerful celebration of everything there is to love about modern JRPGs. Its gorgeously realised world is filled to the brim with quirky characters, vibrant environments, and a whole lot of charm. While its many interlocking systems (which are taught through tutorials that prove simultaneously verbose and unhelpful) may prove a barrier for newer players, persistence and a sense of curiosity are rewarded with a rich and deeply satisfying level of mastery. The core gameplay features – exploration, combat, synthesis, and key creation – feed into each other in a delicious loop that is at once addictive and relaxing. Atelier Ryza 3 is a joyous, cosy romp that will delight any JRPG fan looking for something refreshing.
-
Mar 23, 2023Atelier Ryza 3 is a more-ambitious take on the formula that builds on prior games in almost every way. While this has led to it being rough around the edges technically, Atelier Ryza 3 is an excellent RPG on both Switch and PS5, and a lovely finale for Ryza.
-
May 3, 2023In Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End and The Secret Key, there’s plenty of systems to min/max to your heart’s content, and fans will enjoy getting to hang out with the cast one final time. While I wish things were perhaps a bit more compact, most will enjoy the expansive world and plethora of experiences to have, even if the text is more than a little hard to read. This finale to Ryza’s summer adventures is nonetheless a worthwhile journey for fans to embark on.

Apr 10, 2023I felt both so happy and sad when I finished Atelier Ryza 3. On the one hand, I was so happy that the story stuck the landing and Gust truly learned from the missteps in Atelier Ryza 2. On the other hand, I was so heartbroken that my time with these characters whom I have grown to love throughout three games was finally coming to an end. While there are a few hiccups, overall Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key is a brilliant send-off for Ryza, her friends, and fans of the series as a whole.
-
Mar 27, 2023Atelier Ryza 3 is a game that makes good on its promises. We’ve spent years getting to know Ryza and her friends and learning more about their world. Now there’s this pay-off that really feels fulfilling. Yes, some minor elements might keep it from being completely perfect. Considering how much it accomplishes, it’s still an admirable achievement.
-
Mar 27, 2023Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key adjusts the JRPG series’ gameplay formula in numerous ways—some subtle and some dramatic. Not all of the changes work, but the end result is still a very fun and satisfying conclusion to Ryza’s summer adventures.
-
Mar 23, 2023Atelier Ryza 3: The Alchemist of the End and the Secret Key is a wonderful sequel with great pacing, but the Switch version does have issues.
-
Mar 23, 2023Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key is a comfy and cute game. It's one more trip with Ryza and her friends, with mostly familiar mechanics and locations, but there are enough new twists to make it a worthwhile revisit. The only real complaint I can give is that the Key mechanic is poorly implemented, but even that is a case of missed potential rather than anything that's actively bad. If you like Atelier, it's easy to like Atelier Ryza 3.
-
Mar 23, 2023Ultimately, much like one of Ryza’s alchemical recipes, there are a lot of great ingredients that went into creating Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key. The game may not look perfect, but there’s a lot of heart and fun to be found, and the ability to finetune new weapons, armor, and combat items to your exact needs is unmatched.
-
Mar 23, 2023Atelier Ryza 3 doesn’t fix what’s most broken but compensates by presenting a vast world to explore. Newcomers and veterans alike will find a mountain of content to enjoy.
-
Apr 7, 2023Ryza’s third adventure heartily welcomes even newcomers to the series with its cozy characters and story, but its combat and crafting systems leave a lot up to the player to figure out and/or decide without giving sufficient guidance – for better and for worse.
-
Mar 23, 2023Credit where credit is due, this is a charming game with a lot of love poured into it. When I got into the flow, it gave me a unique experience I’ve never quite found anywhere else. But I don’t recommend it to anyone who isn’t already a fan of the Atelier franchise. At least, not until people start putting their item crafting spreadsheets online.
-
Apr 27, 2023Atelier Ryza 3 works as a fitting end to this particular trilogy, even if its various gameplay mechanics cause more frustration than enjoyment. Persevere and you’ll find plenty to enjoy here, but this really is a game you need to be fully invested in.
