    It is not the best game i've ever tried even i think the people is
    exaggerating. But i need to be honest it's a good game, and i'm enjoying it, not as boring as Bayonetta or DMC5. Good for Platinum, Good for Nintendo and good for us.

    Astral Chain is a very good Action game, with great combat and I'm enjoying the story as well. Worst part of the game are the platforming section which there aren't too many so far.

    It's also great fun doing side quests, or picking up cans to throw into the bin, for some reason. If you enjoy action games, this is the game for you.

    Excellent game. Intuitive action play broken up by sections of great world building that give a nice change of pace. Really nice looking graphics (using the switch to the best of its abilities). More cats than expected. Bonus.

    Purchased this game last Friday - it's fantastic! Very well done. Extremely happy to have this on the Switch. Don't be afraid to grab Astral Chain ASAP!

    very fun combat...a lot of eye candy....i don't really mind the 30FPS when my eyes adjust to it. overall a very solid game. it deserves a 10 in my book. the story is also cool and above average..

    Este juego sin duda es uno de los mejores que han salido para la Nintendo Switch, muy recomendable para sus usuarios. Para colmo de la hipocresía, varios fanboys de ps4 critican el juego porque va a 30fps a pesar de que muchos de los juegos de la ps4 van también a esa velocidad de frames, incluyendo al god of war que también es un hack and slash y corre a 30fps.

    Astral Chain is a fantastic Action / Cop / JoJo stand simulator that deserves attention and praise. It has gorgeous visuals, a phenomenal soundtrack, fun combat, and surprising LENGTH for an action game, too. My first playthrough took 20+ hours and there's TONS to do after that from the collectibles to going for S+ ranks on harder difficulties. It's also very accessible to new players asAstral Chain is a fantastic Action / Cop / JoJo stand simulator that deserves attention and praise. It has gorgeous visuals, a phenomenal soundtrack, fun combat, and surprising LENGTH for an action game, too.     It is a really nice game for fans of the action rpg genre (bayonetta etc). The combo system is cool, graphics heavily stylized but ok and the music really good. The game especially shines when you have to cooperate with your legion (a servant-like creature you spawn and which is connected to you through a magical chain) to defeat one of the many, many, gorgeous bosses the game has toIt is a really nice game for fans of the action rpg genre (bayonetta etc). The combo system is cool, graphics heavily stylized but ok and the music really good. The game especially shines when you have to cooperate with your legion (a servant-like creature you spawn and which is connected to you through a magical chain) to defeat one of the many, many, gorgeous bosses the game has to offer.

    It also has a decent length with 20-30 hours for my playthrough.

    Unfortunately while I really like the concept of the "detective work" in between fights the execution is really lack luster. Definitly a weak part of the game. Also the side characters are barely touched on and the story is confusing as hell.    … Expand

    Controls - are fairly intuitive but you can change the configuration between 4 loadouts.

    Music - has some great music, especially when you are in a fight.

    Graphics - the graphics look pretty good on the Switch. While not 60fps the 30fps doesn't look bad with the art style they chose.

    Playstyle - Your playstyle can vary depending on which Legion you use. I prefer the Sword and Arrow Legion because of their movement speed. However, you start out with the Sword Legion and have to capture the Arrow, Arm, Beast, and Axe Legion over the course of 8 Cases. Yet each level has things that can only be done by each individual Legion which means if you want to 100% the game, you will have to go back and play each case over as you get each Legion or after you have all of them.

    Customization - you can customize your characters face and hair at the beginning. As you progress, you can customize your outfit and the color from a hat on your head to your boots on your feet. You can also customize the color of your Legions, which is pretty fun.

    Side Quests - there are an abundance of side missions for you to do. From helping catch criminals, you are a police officer, to picking up cans, and helping citizens.

    Platinum Games really made a great game and I am glad Nintendo gave them the freedom to do it!    … Expand

    Platinum games goodness. How to put this, I enjoyed it more than the DMC, Bayonetta games, but not quite as much as Nier Automata. Excellent game, interesting new combat mechanics with the legions, one of the best games you will play this year.

    This game exceeded my expectations and really proved to be something unique among as a sea of other awesome actions games. Really fills a niche that there isn't much of on the switch yet as well. Highly recommend for anyone with a taste for style.

I think the game has a really deep mechanics in it im just yet to figure that out! Ignore the haters and bashers. Theyre trying to make the game look bad because they are butthurt about the Nintendo Switch.     exelent combat, exelent story, exelent customization exelent sidequest, the only flaw in this game is the buggy platforming sections where you're landing is wierdly messed up and you ramdomly fall out of a pi, besidres that there is nothing to complaim about.
    you feal only enjoyment while playing this game i don't regreat buying it.

    Overall very cool game, innovative and fun fighting system, compelling character designs and immersive story, Good graphics, been playing it ever since I got it without any complaints, as a fan off many diverse games I truly think this game is one of or top 3 best in the switch system as of today. I recommend it, and thank me later.

One of which is tying the enemy up to do some serious damage.

    Graphically I was very impressed. The game looks stunning on switch and runs at a pretty much stable 30 fps. During one battle, and one small area the frame-rate took small dips but other than that I didn't even feel like I was at 30fps, although I don't mind whether a game is at 30 or 60fps.

    There are a few standout music tracks like the opening theme 'saviour' and some others. Overall most of the tracks were forgettable, but definitely not bad.

    The story may be the weakest part of Astral Chain. It's full of tropes that you have seen a thousand times before if you watch anime or not. The highlights of the story is world building and side characters, of which I enjoyed talking to after coming back to a hub area after each mission.

    The game is only about 30 hours long but I enjoyed almost all of the time I spent in it. If you are a completionist then you could spend a lot longer due to a lot of side content and fun challenges

    Overall this game is an extremely unique and a lot of fun, some minor camera issues and weak story aside, this deserves to be remembered as one of the best games on switch, alongside The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey    … Expand

    I picked my copy up on saturday. And I spent hours enjoying the game. Just everything is so well made for the switch. Even the 30fps are no problem for a action game like this (they really made it work!).
    And the soundtrack is just amazing! Hope it keeps me motivated to revisit it!

    - Graphics are good enough for a switch game.

    Cons
    - The really bad camera. This was the major issue with the game up to around 25 hours into it. The game have probably the worst camera that I have seem in a long time in an action game. After enabled the 3 options for the camera that are off by default it got a lot better but still pretty bad compared to other actions games.
    - The enemies attack you off screen and the camera is so bad that it becomes annoying. This is something that platinum need to learn from Devil May Cry 5, in that game enemies never attack you off screen, however, they will try to get into the screen in order to attack you as soon as possible.
    - Platforming was just bad. They tried to put some platforming elements into the game and it was horrible. Every single time that you fight in the astral realm you do it into small platform that if you fall off you will lose around 1/4 of you life bar.
    - The game try to be to many things at the same time and is just a jack of all trades. The investigations, mini games and "lets be the good police" side activities that are always at the start of each mission are just annoying and unnecessary. I would be happy with more action and believe me when I say that there are parts of this game that I don't want to play ever again.

    This game had the potential to be game of the year but the some little mistakes will prevent it. This year are also so many other good games that it doesn't have a chance but still a good game.

    I really like this game and I can't really put it into words. I originally had buyers remorse just because of how clunky the combat was at first, but as you start progressing and unlocking more abilities it opens up more than other character action games.     Sometimes you see some flaws in the graphics but 90% of the time it looks fantastic. The art style gorgeous. 9/10 Gameplay is flawless [apart from the platforming which isn't as bad as some say] 10/10    I GET IT! It took me an hour or 2 but it finally hit me. The only thing I could say about the game is that the side quests are a bit too easy. But that's not really a concern, as that could also be interpreted as a more casually pleasant experience. Since IExcellent combat mechanics, beautiful graphics, wonderful soundtracks, intriguing story, beautifully made futuristic world, this game has it all! Honestly there's hardly a single bad box. The only thing I could say about the game is that the side quests are a bit too easy. But that's not really a concern, as that could also be interpreted as a more casually pleasant experience.     Great game! I hope they come out with an awesome sequel. Graphics, gameplay, and level design were all amazing. It would have been nice to have the side quests carry a little more significance but overall a must play.

    En muy poco tiempo, literalmente ME ENAMORÉ de este título, al punto que llegué a obtener su Edición Coleccionista. Quien desee obtener una Nintendo Switch, le recomiendo fuertemente hacerse con este juego en su Catálogo. Este es un fortísimo candidato para el GOTY 2019.

    Astral Chain is without a doubt, An Incredible game from the Music to the Graphics to the Amazing Story. I never had a Dull moment in this game.

    The city, and all the places in this world, are surrender with fights between "kimeras", soundtrack kick ass, you have to solve some puzzles and more stuff in all files.     Platinum games have made some interesting fighting games and Astral Chain really makes a thrilling battle using the sword,arm,axe,beast, and sword legions trough te whole game.
    Really worths it, but the story later its so predictable and kinda disapoints at the end. But anyway its an A- game for the Nintendo Switch system.    … Expand

    I've never thought, that it is possible to make an action game so brutally and addictively complex and fun at once but... Platinum Games made me wrong. Again. They overcame them selves once again.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Astral Chain is the best game I've played in some time and my first game from Platinum Games. I don't have fun with most games because I get super bored quickly and then just either don't play anything or just try a different game. The story had me hooked and really kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. One thing I wish they expanded more on was the Legion Fusion. They kinda just threw it in without explaining anything and never went back to talk about it. Hopefully they expand on it in the sequel. I just finished the game and really enjoyed the final boss fight against Noah CX. The length of the game was about right, it wasn't long or too short. The replayability factor is definitely there. Once you finish all 11 files you unlock file 12 and are able to do missions that Olive gives you. You can get more premium material and eventually the Raven Armor that Akira has during the story. The combat is super fast paced and fun if you know what you're doing. It's really satisfying when you can consecutively get combos off and mow down enemies. There is one thing that I didn't like about the game, and that is some of the Legion abilities. Some of the equiptable abilities don't really explain their functions properly. I'm talking about Legion Rush primarily. I had it equipt for a good part of the game and was wondering why my Legion would do a super sensitive dash that would constantly throw me off ledges and kill me. I wasn't a fan of a few of the Legions, for example the Beast and Arrow Legions. The Beast Legion would get in the way and push me off ledges because of how massive it is, and the Arrow I just don't really use. You would be on these super tiny platforms in the AstraI Plane and would have to use the Beast Legion and it would just push you off because there's not enough room. I primarily used my Sword Legion which is the only one I got to CX. I gave it a 9 only because of those issues I encountered constantly. I'm really looking forward to the sequel.     Everything I’m astral chain is amazing the story is in depth and the cutscenes are beautiful. The gameplay is something that hasn’t been done before. The only problem I have is with the co-op. Not being able to control everything a character does is annoying.

    Great games for those who like A-RPGs/ Beat'em all style. Clearly it is not perfect but Platinum Games put a real effort into bringing something original with a universe of its own. The gameplay is somewhat demanding, the game can be hard sometimes for the casual gamers. Nevertheless, I had a good time on it and once you get accustomed to the gameplay, it's really heady.

    No spoilers here. I hope this game never goes to Sony’s Wokestation. This is an excellent game. The only thing that really gets me is, this could have easily been Bayonetta 3. Platinum Stars knocked it out of the park again.
    What makes this so good? Well think of it this way: Bayonetta 1 and 2 + Neon Genesis + Detroit Become Human with a smidge of Pokémon a pinch of Hellraiser and a dash    No spoilers here. I would give it a 10/10 but some of the commands in the game towards the end are slightly confusing to what the game expects you to do with a forced static camera angle. So it gets a 9.5 from me.     Excellent graphics for a Nintendo Switch game. Gameplay is fun and the optional side missions make this a very entertaining game. The only drawback is that sometimes side missions take away from the continuity of the main story, otherwise it would be 10/10.

It's packed with references to previous platinum games and anime throughout. The game is locked at 30 and that's probably one of my major gripes about this game, and the way the game looks is very interesting and Anime-Cyberpunk, etc. but itA fun action game with a weird amount of simplicity and complexity to the combat for a Platinum Game.     The different perks you can give your legions (Evangelion-Stand) can be frustrating to manage or could not be there, but luckily there's a sort button and provides variety for other players. I wish I could go back to areas I've been to without having to go through a whole story mission again because there are a bunch that is very long depending if you talk to NPCs and side quests.
    Overall it's another fun action game from platinum and there are moments, gameplay-wise, that reminds me of NieR Automata, mostly this was in the same develope and made by the same team from platinum.
    Another few gripes I had were at least a jump that could be used for easier jump canceling moves besides the use of a legion.
    An option for Blade with the Sword Legion, to be more similar to Rising, use Left stick to move the camera and swinging right stick to slash rather than a button press.
    Maybe some fists weapons and option to aim with the pistol or better target much like in Bayo and DMC... maybe.
    Customize the Other twin to match the Player's Character.
    Those are just my nitpicks, but it's a good game. I'll be honest I haven't played Platinum Standard yet, I wanted to get a better understanding with the legion mechanic and have a reason to come back to play again besides playing as the other twin. I know there is a tone of goodies waiting to be unlocked.    … Expand

    Platinum games are the best delevopers. Astral chain is in my top 5 games ever with nier automata and bayonetta 2. Music is one of best soundtracks with story and gameplay like bayonetta and nier. Masterpiece

    Incredible combat, amazing music, a decent plotline, and stellar performance are making this game one of the best Switch games so far, and quite possible the best action game i ever played

    While the story follows a very anime esque plotline where most twist can be deducted a few chapters prior(or even earlier if you watched certain anime this game draws inspiration from) the plot itself managed to captivate me in its own way, the mute protagonist being a less then optimal choice from platinums side isnt bad enough to hamper my enjoyment of the, once again predicable but still, good plot.

    The gameplay can be categoriezed into 2 Main categories, Combat, and non Combat.
    The combat system relies on your legion to get the most out of it, using the Titelgiving Astral Chain to controll him from affar, to bind the enemy in place or using him as a ankerpoint to jump to across the battlefield, towards an enemy, or away from it. The legion attacks on its own and focuses on the target you locked on. you have a basic Attack combo, which expands via upgrades to have more situational attacks(a 360° attack, a dash attack) as well as a dodge. Combat consist of evading enemy attacks, bashing on them and using your legion to defeat enemy after enemy, some enemys are as simple as bashing on them till they die, some others need to be binded to have a clear and safe attack window, others are protected by supourt enemys, underground or in the air, or close by and needing to be severd from their compaion via one of the 5 Legions special ability.
    Bosses present the biggest highlight in any platinum game, and AC is not an exception to it, evading, clearing out mobs, binding the enemy, attacking and finishing a combo with a powefull synch attack with your legion, all there while you need to manage not only your health, but also your legions energy, not forgeting to call it back before it runs out and having to wait precios seconds till its full agian, seconds, that can mean the end.

    Non combat is used to investiage areas for hints of what boss you will fight, helping civilian or simply carying boxes or icecream. These missions are hit and miss, most of them are completly optional, only required to 100% the game, or S+ Ranking every mission, and i havent found any mission that is completly garbage, even if having a Gyro sensor carying minigame in the middle of the game was kinda odd.

    The non combat mssion give a well needed break of the combat missions during a File(the games name for Chapter) and arent breaking the pacing in any way.

    The Music is amazing, the Opening, ending and insert songs are phenomenal, the boss tracks are all amazing, and every track was great to listen too.    … Expand

    Increíble juego! La historia me recuerda a una especie de Evangelion con Bayonetta. Uuufff adrenalina pura desde el primer episodio y los toques de investigación le dan un plus espectacular!
