    I had a great time with 9 Monkeys of Shaolin. It was a fun time for the most part, and I constantly wanted to experiment with the different gear and skills. It was one that I always found myself jumping back into it just to get a few more levels in. If you’re a fan of the beat ‘em up genre, this is one you will need to check out. It has the style and the complexity to keep players having fun for the entirety of the game.

    Everything about 9 Monkeys of Shaolin is above board (except maybe the title). While it doesn’t bear the name of some famous franchise, everything about it possesses high quality and I definitely had a good time playing it. This game is a solid pick-up for beat-’em-up fans, particularly if you can find a friend to play with. Give it a play, and unleash your inner monk.

    I was pleasantly surprised by how satisfied I was walking away from my time with this game. The growth in combat complexity was not only satisfying, but the various upgrades and equips allowed multiple strategies and approaches to levels that were surprisingly robust. There’s a beauty to the clean but vibrant backdrops and interstitial drawings. 9 Monkeys of Shaolin is a rewarding beat-em-up that belongs in every fan’s library.

    This is a really fun beat em up game, even though is a little short I really enjoyed it a lot because the gameplay is so good, there's a lotThis is a really fun beat em up game, even though is a little short I really enjoyed it a lot because the gameplay is so good, there's a lot of ways you can defeat your enemies and also is a very rewarding game. There are many collectable statues which unlock many mods in the game, and also many characters you can play as after defeating some bosses. I only wished the game last a little bit longer but it's even fun replaying it from time to time. I recommend it, but wait for a sale. Because at full price I don't think is really worth it because of how short it is.… Full Review »

    Imagine a game programming student making their first game for an assignment at college and this game is pretty much what you're imagining. It is a side scrolling beat em up style game that is absolutely no fun and just bad in general.    … Full Review »

There is enough variation in combat, which keeps it interesting. However, the game is short and there are some serious issues that really affected how much fun it was for me to play. For example, sometimes I would find tea, but I wouldn’t be able to pick it up. After battling the final boss (and failing the first time), I accidentally clicked “return to camp” instead of “retry”, resulting in having to do the whole level again, instead of just the final fight. There was no “are you sure?”. Sometimes an enemy would be able to hit me with a bomb, while I had just dashed in the opposite direction and they couldn’t have known where I was going. The map was not clear enough for me to easily view which levels I had finished and which ones I was still to finish. Overall a decent enough game, I you can get it with a fair discount. In my opinion not worth the € 30 it initially sold for here in the Netherlands.… Full Review »
