It's honestly pretty dull and makes a lot of baffling decisions.

I have to crush my R3 for a long time to super jump; combat is boring, enemies are boring, levels of open and empty, the mission type is not varied, weapons always come damaged.

There's a meta-game of leveling between missions, getting abilities getting DNA, etc., but it's not enough to save the game.

Played via Stadia Pro. A game with an apparently steep learning curve. Loved the graphics/look. Not a genre i am familiar with, but was occasionally fun - when I wasn't just dying, haha.

I really want to love this game. It is fun and gets challenging but it still feels too much like I'm running around an empty map trying to find loot. Maybe I shouldn't be playing it that way. It has charm and plays great on Stadia.

Not my type of game, theres alot of open space, and the enemies are unforgiving, its really tough in the start, I assume it gets easier as you go on, I was only able to put a couple hours into the game, I could see how alot of people would like it, random generated levels, variety of enemies, awesome art style with a combat system that could be a bit more forgiving health wise, at leastNot my type of game, theres alot of open space, and the enemies are unforgiving, its really tough in the start, I assume it gets easier as you go on, I was only able to put a couple hours into the game, I could see how alot of people would like it, random generated levels, variety of enemies, awesome art style with a combat system that could be a bit more forgiving health wise, at least for me, music is such a great part of the game as well. It's trial and error to find this out though. Expect to die a lot and get frustrated.
Takes advantage of a unique stadia feature in State share. Help each other out on difficult levels or compete against your friends to get the best score. Some of the movements in the gamne could od with work like climbing the ledges on the side of a building is awkward and stiff. You can only move at one speed. It is challenging and enjoyable but unlikely to win any awards or be on top of peoples favourite games.

Offers a fun experience for shorter game sessions. The state share feature is unique and fun to use with other players. Fun minute to minute combat.

This is not really my type of game. It was really fun to play until I died and lost all my stuff. At higher levels I was only able to play because of the State Share on Stadia. I was able to get weapons from others who had left them and saved their game share. The combat is a bit clunky. the gameplay is fun though and the concept is really cool. I don't have time or desire to "get good" at this game in order to play it. Expand

This game is attractive and technically interesting, I think it gets a bit of a though ride. It also isn't a perfect game with some frustrating elements. 7.

Great Sci Fi asthetic. The action gameplay is pretty fun but gets repetitive. Difficulty level is a bit too steep and not much character progression to help grind.

Expand

This game isn't to be discarded. It has some very interesting game design ideas, especially utilizing Stadia's State Share feature. In a world where games such as Hades, Slay The Spire and Into The Breach have found ways to elevate the Roguelike to new heights, PixelJunk Raiders sadly fails to make a mark. [Issue#357, p.118]

PixelJunk Raiders may look like an inventive and colorful world to wander around, but it stumbles hard when it comes to darn near everything else that makes a roguelike fun.

PixelJunk Raiders has a unique vibe and some interesting ideas, including smart implementation of Stadia’s State Share feature, but it isn’t anywhere near as fleshed out or polished as it needs to be. Cheapo presentation, clunky combat, unbalanced roguelike mechanics, and a lack of variety combine to extinguish the game’s promise. PixelJunk Raiders may stand out like a minor oasis on the desolate Stadia release calendar, but there’s a much wider, more vibrant world of roguelike-flavored games out there to explore.
