Granted, there has been a shift in focus away from parkour/stealth and towards combat—made obvious by a lack of verticality and much more open environments—with some serious improvements to the combat system; making it slightly challenging and mostly based on user skill instead of just aesthetic compared to earlier entries...
And yet the game remains relatively bland and average in all but the design of its environments. The ceaseless repetition of mindless and unvaried tasks that are shoved down your throat through the use of innumerable checklists, map markers and "points of interest" detracts from what could clearly be a decent game if it were more focused and more tightly designed.

I will add a bonus point because of the "Discovery Tour" mode, which can be an excellent tool for getting people interested in Greek history and mythology. This may arguably be the best way to play the game.

I believe the new direction the games are heading as open-world deep-dives into history is really working. There is so much to do in the game that you will never be bored. The main quest-line took forever for me to complete because the strategy needed for overcoming tougher bandits and assassination targets always keep me doing side quests, a game hadn't had me this focused in the world since The Witcher 3. The introduction of the Cultists in the latter portion of the first part of the game was really what I was looking for to tie the game together, this with the exploration mode really made this an open-world to behold.

Super fun game that looks and plays beautifully on Stadia. The story is well crafted, the open world is incredible (my favorite of any AC game). The mechanics are easy to pick up and the upgrade and weapon system is intuitive.

I spent over 100 hours on the game and it easily kept my attention the whole time.

There are very few bugs, so far I've only had two (graphical) issues in over forty hours of play, and both resolved on their own, and neither was game breaking in any sense. The world is beautiful, and I've really liked little things like the game pinging me when I'm close to an untracked quest so that I can't cover quests that I'm near and may have lost track of. I've been enamored with this game since I started playing it, and I can easily see myself putting dozens more hours into it yet, so from a value perspective, the hours of enjoyment per dollar cost is definitely in favor of this game! The only real gripes I have with it are that on the global map, finding your quest marking can be really difficult due to a poor sizing and coloring scheme, which causes it to blend it, and from a combat perspective, while it's good, I've had a good number of deaths caused when the character doesn't respond in as crisp a manner as my input was, i.e., you press for an action and get an inconsistent reaction speed. This has led to me taking on a button mashing tactic where if I want the character to do an action, I end up spamming those buttons to cause the action until I see it occur rather than the nice and smooth combat systems that games like the Batman Arkham series have made me so fond of. Still, combat ends up being a relatively small part of the game compared to stealth and exploration, so it hasn't bothered me enough to be a true problem. I would definitely buy this again, and am confident that for those looking to finish this game, you can easily plow one hundred hours into it. Expand
