The Red Star is a great game, just one that wasn’t designed for most people to get excited about.
-
Playstation Official Magazine UKAn excellent and testing shooter. [June 2010, p.117]
-
As a $15 game, though, The Red Star is a great deal, considering it was at one point set to release as a full-priced game. For old-school action game fans, this one's a must-download.
-
Fans of both old school shooters and 2D beat-em-ups will fall in love with the merging of these two genre.
-
The Red Star is a fine game, and should be played by fans of the brawler and SHMUP genres. Whether you dig up a PS2 version or get this one on PSP, I don't think you'll be disappointed.
-
I like Streets of Rage and Ikaruga, but The Red Star only offers glimpses of gameplay that feel like those awesome titles. The boss fights are fun and I enjoyed upgrading my weapons and abilities with the points I earned, but there’s no story here, the game isn’t all that challenging, and it’s pretty mundane looking.
-
It's a blast to play, and probably the most fun we've had with video game Russians, outside of performing spinning piledrivers with Zangief.

Aug 4, 2022Really decent game. Definitely a lesser known hit. Challenging but not cheap and the pacing is good, levels don't go on too long.
