If you like traditional turn based JRPGs, this game is the best.
The story, characters, music and most noticeably the world is simply unmatched.
While I think Sky FC is already comparable to classics like FF6, 7, Chrono Trigger, Lunar: Eternal Blue... Sky SC surpasses that tier and set new heights on the genre. What makes this series so special? Well, the quality of its writing and also

What makes this series so special? Well, the quality of its writing and also the sheer depth and volume of it. For example, each town NPC is handcrafted and their dialogues change as the story goes on, which makes the world feel alive. Many of them have their own story arcs or running gags that will make you want to talk to them for what they will say instead of purely for completionist purposes. Now, if they bother to give this much attention to random NPCs, you can expect an unprecedented level of detail for the main cast and story that puts even visual novels to shame.

I strongly suggest playing through FC before this, otherwise you will be kind of lost in the story.

This review is copy and pasted from my review on the PC version. Please note here that the PC version is overall the better experience because it can be updated and patched for translation errors, and it has better graphics.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. One of the best games, I have played in a while. Like most great novels, it has a slow beginning and an excellent middle and ending. I have loved every second of this game from the villains who are not one dimensional villains with interesting motivations. They interact well with their rivals to the Big Bad, who is the most twisted villain, yet the most interesting I have seen in a while. People say it is another game about saving the world. I can say about that with most games including my favourite Suikoden 1-5, the most acclaimed Chrono Trigger, Lunar, every FF. The consequences can actually be felt here, though since chapter 8 you actually have to be really intelligent and know which character you can trust with the equipment in order to use orbment. It makes certain quests difficult, yet that is the fun of this game.

The NPCs feel more like humans than most games nowadays. Yes they give long speeches, but it feels nice when you transfer they say stuff like "oh Hi, thanks for... It was great, if I have a problem, I will let the guild know. Also, for your troubles here is..." This is one of the rare forms of communications that makes a town feel alive. There are loads of minigames with cooking being actually useful in battle and out of battle.

It is impossible to highly recommend this game since there is no better word than highly recommend. It is phenomenal. Please try it.

The empires strikes back of the Sky trilogy! Okay, okay, maybe not quite the same. But the slow burn builds to the inevitable conclusion in FC. The gameplay is great, Estelle is lovable and the music is fantastic!

This is a great second game to the series. This game ties up the loss ends to Sky FC, and sets up the rest of the trails series. Story is even more epic then sky FC. but you need to play FC first, this is a great game and you really need to do yourself a favor and play the trails series.

Trails in the SC is the satisfying conclusion to what I consider to be the best original RPG series on the PSP/PSV, and should not be one to be missed by any JRPG fan.

If you would have told me there was a new PSP game coming out in 2015 that I had to play, I would have called you crazy. But here we are. The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky Second Chapter is a title that you shouldn't miss.
