A great race title if you can persevere past the initial frustration. [Mar 2007, p.74]
  2. One of the best racing games the PSP has seen so far.

This PSP racing port of a port delivers the incredible mileage and deep features of the console version, save some graphical downscaling and minor tweaks. [June 2007, p.80]
  4. It's visually impressive for the PSP, with a smooth framerate, so it shouldn't bother anyone looking for a nice picture.
  5. Test Drive Unlimited was a bold experiment in seamlessly blending the solo and online racing experience and it worked great on the 360 and PC, and to some degree you get a small taste of this on the PSP, but I wouldn’t recommend this game to anyone looking for the next big thing in PSP online gaming.
  6. Hardware limitations aside, Test Drive Unlimited for the PSP does an amazing job of bringing all the elements found in the console version of the game to make this a fun racing title.
  7. Arguably one of the best driving games on the PSP to date. The graphics are stellar, the sound is good, and the gameplay is engaging, addictive and highly entertaining.

Test Drive Unlimited is about having the ability to race amazing fantasy vehicles around an amazing fantasy island - and that core element works extremely well.
  9. A decent driving model set within a rich virtual petrolhead lifestyle world that – occasional technical glitches aside – can prove absorbing.

Almost as good as its big brother counterparts. Almost.
  11. While the PSP version of Test Drive Unlimited is not the most complete version of the game available, it's certainly the most impressive from a technical standpoint.
  12. The PSP version of Test Drive Unlimited crams in just about every feature found in the PS2 version of the game, including the open-ended online world, and it does so without mucking up the experience.
  13. 78
Most of what made that idea so fresh and unique doesn’t hold up well on the PSP. On the plus side, the impressive technology and solid racing make this game worth a look anyways.
  14. It all comes down to what you're looking for in a racing game. Test Drive Unlimited for the PSP has the potential to keep you playing for months on end, as long as you don't sit down for extended sessions.

A mature and serious racing game that ill impress you. [Mar 2007, p.84]
  16. The dumbed down versions might not have the same draw as the console version, but for a portable racing game, Test Drive Unlimited is excellent.
  17. Test Drive Unlimited is certainly in the upper echelon and offers an overall quality experience that is perfect when you're on the go.
  18. Test Drive: Unlimited wasn’t specifically intended for handheld play and it shows. The wealth of content is staggering and the presentation pristine; however, a sense that this game has been unnecessarily squeezed down to size causes it to miss its potential.

I have to say, this is easiest one of the best racing games i have played. The graphics are sweet, and the handling on the cars is spot on I have to say, this is easiest one of the best racing games i have played. The graphics are sweet, and the handling on the cars is spot on just right. yes the cars do feel a wee on the heavy side, but that is how cars feel when your speeding round a corner..On line mode will keep you amused and so will the size of the island your racing around. If only all racing games were like this, good job EA. Full Review »

Nice physics and handling, civilian traffic and cops to dodge and an entire tropical island to explore makes this my favourite straight road racer on the PSP. Full Review »
