Despite its complex tutorial, Puzzle Chronicles is one of the best PSP games out there. Character customization, usable items, companions and sidequests en masse will make you play forever.
-
This game is in the first two hours extremely difficult, but after that you will understand the gameplay and then this game will become pretty cool. The game has a very good atmosphere, nice voice-acting and nice graphics. The game is hard, but it’s a good one!
-
Puzzle Chronicles is a good puzzle/RPG game capable of engaging both fans of the genre.
-
Games Master UKGood old-fashioned gameplay with an RPG twist, but not as good as Infinite's Puzzle Quest. [Apr 2010, p.85]
-
Game InformerCharacter progression is interesting at first, but the game quickly becomes trivially easy. [Issue#203, p.95]
-
Puzzle Chronicles is undoubtedly a well crafted puzzle/RPG, capable of engaging both fans of the genre as well as any newcomers to the series, but despite it's undeniable qualities, the low difficulty level might fail to offer a real lasting challenge.
-
At the end of the day, Puzzle Chronicles did try to be different, however it failed to successfully make this an exciting puzzle game.
-
Playstation Official Magazine AustraliaChronicles runs smoothly, but we just wish we had more room to see what was going on in the gem-filled half of the screen. [Apr 2010, p.77]
-
The game suffers by comparison to stronger titles that are similar enough to make such a comparison unavoidable.
-
PSM3 Magazine UKThe awkward style makes for a fantasy adventure that's difficult to believe in. [Apr 2010, p.96]
-
Play UKExactly the same as every other puzzle game ever made. [Issue#190, p.79]
-
Puzzle Chronicles is a decent game wrapped in a tacky and uninspiring packaging. The puzzle based combat and the accompanying system for upgrading your character works well. Unfortunately the overall design and voice acting is horrendous and there are simply too many minor flaws present here for the game's qualitative sides to really shine through. Stay clear until you can find this title in the bargain bin.
-
No, Puzzle Chronicles isn't a must-have in the same league as Puzzle Quest, but if you want a different kind of puzzle experience and don't mind putting up with a story similar to Red Sonja, feel free to splurge.
-
Not something we can recommend - to anyone. Obviously built on a too-small budget or by a B-team, it's slow and unrewarding to play. The graphics are ugly and nothing from the puzzling itself through to the meta RPG or even the narrative have anything significantly valuable enough to suggest tolerating any other part of it to experience.
-
Puzzle Chronicles reminds us of the Puzzle-RPG-mix Puzzle Quest . But poor presentation and bad balancing make Puzzle Chronicles not quite as entertaining as that game .
-
This rote puzzle role-playing game delivers a few exciting moments but falls far short of measuring up to the game that clearly inspired it.
-
Puzzle Chronicles is a mix of puzzle and role playing game where the puzzle-battles are way better and more interesting than the rather mediocre and slow RPG-style sections.
-
LEVEL (Czech Republic)Horizontal Tetris is not a bad idea at all. But if you combine it with a stupid story and crappy visuals you bury all the fun this puzzler has to offer. [Issue#190]
-
Playstation Official Magazine UKIt's almost worth playing Chronicles just to appreciate how bad it is. Almost, but definitely not. [Apr 2010, p.112]
